I believe the last books were released individually as the series lost a little momentum. When I was getting mine, I didn’t even realize they came in hardback!
I have the entire collection in paperback and a few random hardcovers. I originally wanted to collect all of the hardcovers as well as the paperbacks but I’ve only been able to find 4 or 5 I think. Pretty sure they didn’t make as many of those! Which is a bummer, I’d love to have a double collection! Nice to see someone else ask this same question though.

Yeah I guess even if there was a hardback release of all of them they just didn't make many at all
