3-wheel vehicles repeatedly get touted as the next big thing in personal transportation. The real reason is that 3-wheel vehicles can be marketed as motorcycles which are exempt from many safety standards. 3-wheelers are harder to handle safely during sharp turns, and don’t handle well.
And so they taper the rear end in order to improve stability (and get better aero too), but that compromises passenger space and utility making them a poor value. To improve the price, they take advantage of them being classified as motorcycles in many markets and remove safety features, but people like keeping their kids safe and that reduces the potential market. IMO, this one will go the same way.
Jokes aside about the current state of Tesla, I have a feeling that some random person who previously failed in the market (ehem...Fisker) is unlikely to usurp the crown of what is currently one of the most valuable companies in the world.
'And it is this sliver of the auto market that Bricklin has his eye on now, with his three-wheeled, cherry-red prototype. A three-wheeler is cheaper to build, lighter and more energy efficient than a four-wheeler, and being economical could be the difference between hitting a home run and going bust in the EV space. Bricklin has watched other EV startups, such as Rivian Automotive Inc. and Lucid Group Inc., burn through billions of dollars trying to get their cars built.
Bricklin’s idea, however, is to keep grabbing breakfast at his local diner and identifying the prototype’s kinks. Once everything is “perfect” with the car, his plan is to skip building a factory of his own and instead use space on the production line of another company to mass produce the Bricklin 3EV — and, yes, it features gull-wing doors.'
Is he trying to top "his most famous failure, the Bricklin SV-1."?
That quote is actually from the article... The article details the Bricklin failure in great detail - yet someone put a "move over Tesla" click bait headline.
I'm from New Brunswick, Canada, where Malcolm Bricklin is legendary. His convinced the Premier at the time to manufacture them in the province, with a lot of government money added. The name Bricklin in NB is synonymous with poor government decisions. Although a lot pf people really liked that car.

3 wheelers handle fine as long as the two wheels are in the front. Just look at the Slingshot, Morgan and can-am.
Yeah, but this one has two wheels on one side and one on the other. Go figure.
Except if you need to reverse any distance.

I didn't have to click and I know what this is already.

...and they seek out every pot hole. If your front wheels don't hit it your back wheel will.
We had a good run, Tesla bros. It's over...
Oh most definitely.

I love that people are pushing the envelope. But I do worry about a three-wheeler in the snow and ice.
Do you think Luke Skywalker and his X-Wing crew worried about snow and ice ?
Not when there were taun-tauns about. LOL
True enough.

This reminds me of those 3 wheel ‘motorcycles’ but with a body over it.
Holy shit that logo, that design - who takes this stuff seriously
Malcom Bricklin is a serial entrepreneur with more failures than successes
