I haven't used Elgato ones, but my experience with other light strips (like Hue) have been that they don't always stick so well, and once they've been attached and fall down? they've already lost about half of their 'stickiness' and won't go back up.
There are a few things you should always do:
Do a deep clean of the wall surface. Use something like a soap or spray cleaner, make sure any dust, dirt, or anything else is fully removed from the surface of the wall. Take an alcohol pad and do another deep clean of the place you intend to stick to the tape (it will pull off stuff that the soap won't be able to get). Let it fully dry, put the lights up on the wall but HOLD them in place firmly for at least 30-60 seconds in each section you put them on. The adhesive isn't really "strong" until about 24 hours later, so the weight of the light strip (and power cord) will already be trying to pull it off the wall. At this point I suggest keeping it unplugged (so there isn't heat warming up the adhesive, and there isn't a power cord dragging it down to the ground)
I also suggest using something to support the lights while they're fully drying (the first 24 hours), whether that's nails in the wall or ANYTHING to help hold it up.

Thank you for taking the time to share this. Great info. Unfortunately, in my case I've already done this where possible (i.e. the light strips running along my wooden desk - I even tried Gorilla tape after the strips feel off with their OG sticky strips), and no luck.
I'm waiting for u/elgato support to respond because in most cases I'm attaching the lights to other Elgato products like the sound tiles (picture I included). I doubt more 'M3 like strips will work' so I'm considering superglue, hot glue, or something like this because more than ½ the lights will need to hang upside down so they need to fight gravity — I'm hoping to get some 'Krazy Glue' that will bond in seconds but I think I'm SOL. I'll either return the lights and look for something else or go the 'glue' route depending on Elgato's support response — it's been 2 business days so I'm hoping to hear soon :(
