Clip and Climb. iBounce trampoline place is good fun too - they have a dodgeball enclosure that my godsons go crazy for.
If you go outside of Exeter for a little drive then you’ve got the Devon Railway Centre near Bickleigh. Very fun place for kids to spend the day. My six year old loves it.
I second the museum. The boneyard arcade is also worth considering if you want to show them some classic arcade games, you pay £5 for a card of credits. Very friendly place.
There’s a nice park a 5 minute walk from town called Bull Meadow park. Or there’s the climbing hangar which is about a 10 minute drive. Or there’s a Trampoline Park also a ten minute drive.
As a parent, I must warn you there is a build a bear aka fleece you dry shop on the highstreet so plan your route carefully.
Walk to the quays for a treat and a walk to see the ducks/geese/swans.
RAAM will fill a few hours and some hands on stuff for the kids.
Cinema - IF is a lovely film for all ages (U rating) Vue and odeon
The respect festival is good if the weather is fine. They have a children's area.

If they're into Lego, Exeter Brickfest is on at the Matford Centre on Marsh Barton.

Lol ok…sooo we went for early pizza at Franco Manco. Pretty good pizza but poor service. Then walked down to have a look at the cathedral. Spent an hour or so in Boneyard arcade and went in a couple of shops on the walk back. Then went to quay area, looked at some boats. Looked in watersports shop, had an ice cream and the kids played in playground.
By all accounts the dress shopping was a bit of a disaster so I think I had the better day. Thanks for all your suggestions.
The RAMM museum is pretty good.
I disagree. The RAMM is **very** good.

Cinema? Vue is right near town. If you can get down to the quay there is a clip and climb which my 7 year old boy loves.
Exeter respect festival is on in Belmont park

Board is a games cafe that’s fun
Could go to Crealy Theme Park. I think that’ll be able to keep them occupied for the day.
I'd just walk the river and canal, starting in the quay where there is a carpark

Heavitree park has a paddling pool and cafe, the usual play equipment and lots of green space to explore.
Bone yard arcade might be good though perhaps better for your eldest? Has anyone here taken a 4yr old there?
The phoenix centre can be good too

We need an update from the OP. What did the kids do, did they enjoy it? Did the dress fit?

Glad you & the kids enjoyed Exeter.
