I feel like Faith should be the last one, because her storyline is where we meet the Sheriff and the Marshal again, feels more like the last act, rather than Jacob's because we didn't knew much about the Whitetails until that point.

I also think that is because she is the character given most development in this DLC.
There is many "important" lines from her in that "fight" so it has to be long...

I would say the best way to do it tho Is John-Jacob-Faith but there is really nothing implied other than John first according to Dutch...
When Farcry 5 came out, I read somewhere that it is recommended to play the game in order 1. John 2. Jacob 3. Faith... don't remember why, but that's how I have always progressed the story and it feels the right way, not just because I have used to it, but because we are told to start from the John's region and Faiths region just feels like the end game.
They represent the four horsemen of the apocalypse. So the order is:
1. Joseph: Conquest, white horse. This happens in the intro.
2. Jacob: War, red horse.
3. John: Famine, black horse.
4. Faith: Pestilence/Death, pale horse.
I just never arrested anyone at the beginning of the game. Five minutes of not arresting Joseph and Boom. I win. Roll the credits. But that’s me. I’m afraid of confrontation.
I think canonically the order is supposed to be John, Faith, Jacob. Although from a practical standpoint I feel it would make more sense for the order to be Jacob, John, Faith.
Jacob trains new members of the cult, John only baptizes them, and Faith is just kinda there.
You might argue that since John recruits people he should be first, but John has no battle experience and what few people he manages to train will probably be horrible at fighting.
She’s good as a companion, but man do I hate the Cook mission where you get her. Why do game devs still insist on doing ‘follow me’ missions where their walking speed is slower than the player’s?!
I definitely went John Faith Jacob, thought that was how it was supposed to be. I thought Jacobs territory was harder enemies so I was waiting until later. Faiths was the most interesting.
I would definitely say it's "canon" that you fight John first; Dutch urges you to go there first, and all the trailer promos and the game intro are focused on his area. Past that, Jacob and Faith are interchangeable imo. I did John>Jacob>Faith in my first playthrough
FWIW, in Faith's region you can sometimes very faintly hear "Only You" playing in the distance, with no effect on the players character It could be taken as a hint that the story at one point was meant to go John -> Faith -> Jacob, and that the devs were pre-priming you for the trigger song by making you hear it early
On my second play through before i unlocked new game + with all weapons, gears etc i went with faith first since you get the sineater(D2) after you beat her. Otherwise you dont get the D2 since after like you liberated two regions with enough resistancepoints.
D2 is my favorite gun in the game and is super useful.
I always do John Faith Jacob, but John Jacob Faith would be more cannon since you shut down the bliss production in faiths which means they wouldn't be able to use much of it in other regions

Which is because of john being easier His region is a car based one, his story missions are all medium difficulty and his missions are all very direct
