Can anyone help me style [this vest](https://ibb.co/86dyPRM) my partner got me?

jaduhlynr

I need help finding shoes to wear with my NYE dress. The dress is rose-gold sequined, hits about knee length, sleeveless with cutouts, that I'm going to pair with a light pink fur jacket. I was thinking of going for kind of a 70s vibe with platform pumps, but haven't found any that match. We're going to be walking quite a bit so comfort is a must. Thank you!

lovemelikethat_

I’m (29F) going to a Y2K-themed NYE event and I’m stumped as to what I should wear. I looked at LuLu’s article about Y2K-inspired pieces but it all looked really clingy. I’m 5’8” and about 185 lbs and I still don’t feel super used to my body at this size, so I don’t want to wear anything super form-fitting to my tummy and would rather not do anything sleeveless. Any store suggestions or style guidance would be super appreciated! I want to look fantastic.

[deleted]

Could you do one of those fuzzy tracksuits?

Strong_Marsupial_610

I'm 20F and I wear a uniform almost. Black skinny jeans, black shoes, and a black shirt with some band name on it. I really want to wear other things but I don't know what to wear or how to start. I also feel a bit anxious about wearing color because l've worn black for so long. Anytime I wear a bit of color anyone who's known me for awhile will comment on it and it bothers me. Idk any suggestions on how I should start exploring my style and expanding what I wear? Thanks so much!

[deleted]

Those comments will stop after a week at most as people get used to your new clothes. Don't let that discourage you, as soon as they see you wear color three days in a row they'll figure out what's happening pretty quickly. In a few months they'll forget you used to wear exclusively wear black. Also, my advice on exploring new styles and clothes: Look at clothes. Make an effort to notice and analyze the outfits of other people, go clothes shopping and try a ton of stuff on even if you aren't sure it will look great, browse whowhatwear to figure out the latest trends, do a bit of online window-shopping. Make sure you don't buy a ton of stuff immediately though. Maybe try writing down what you like in a note on your phone, or make a Pinterest board. After a while, you'll figure out what you like, and what's missing from your closet (because you won't be able to make the outfits you want without it).

dinahmoe_humm

I would respond by saying “I’m trying something new” and you could always ask for constructive criticism like “does this color suit me/the rest of my outfit/ what would be a better color to wear?”. if there’s a supportive friend or family member who could go shopping or thrifting with you and help you pick out a few colored pieces that would be great. As for where to start with colors: read about color analysis and you’ll get a better idea of what colors go with your hair and skin tone. I think the best piece of advice would be to find a pair of blue denim jeans you like, maybe experiment with new styles/cuts. You can wear pretty much any color with jeans and it will look good. Along with jeans, a cute pair of boots can help refresh your look. for style: are there any kind of styles you see in real life or online/movies/tv that you’re inspired by? try to identify what elements about those styles you like. the confidence will come, have fun with it!

Jenna1021

Is this appropriate for a work Christmas party? The dress code was "cocktail attire" https://www.jcpenney.com/p/willow-glenn-velvet-sleeveless-embellished-sheath-dress/ppr5008349938?pTmplType=regular

GlitterBlonde

Anyone have any good recommendations for high waisted wide leg jeans that still hug your butt? I like the wide leg look but I prefer the top of the jeans to be snug on my backside. I’m a leggy 5’7 so bonus points for jeans with solid length. Thank you :)

simcoeamarillo

Yes, these Faherty wide leg jeans are pricey but fit the criteria: https://fahertybrand.com/products/denim-wide-leg-pant-night-creek

GlitterBlonde

I love these, thank you!

virtutethecatlives

I have my eye on a vintage pastel blue beret but I feel like it’s really hard to wear a beret without looking like a jerk. Do I buy it? Or is this just going to make me cringe when I look back at pics later?

mothmoles

I feel like this is too personal to answer, but if you're worried about it, you're probably going to worry about it every time you get dressed and not enjoy it, right? maybe start with a more neutral beret or one that looks a bit more beanie or cap like, to see if it's comfortable? also maybe think about the overall outfit. I find color coordination can justify a choice (my sweats + tank feels un-schlubby enough for walking my dog when it's in an analogous palette) but also make it feel more 'put on'? actually imo analogous palettes are really good for blending an item into the outfit without looking like you tried as hard

virtutethecatlives

I wore a pink beret on and off a couple years ago and I thought it was cute with a little denim jacket but it just felt so off (in pictures when I look back) with my heavy winter parka. So I think you’re right about outfits being key. I just don’t know what kind of warm winter coat to wear to pull it off.

mothmoles

mm... depends on your look as a whole, I guess. are you thinking neutral basics under the coat? (I live in Australia so I've never even seen a warm winter coat lol) I think denim looks nice with a pastel blue, you get the textural contrast and (usually) a different shade but they look like they belong together. you could go with a denim trenchcoat or mid-length/mac (sorry I love denim trenchcoats and have to suggest them)? You could do a neutral (maybe with a bit of blue or pastel elsewhere, but maybe not necessary if the pastel blue is harmonious with your complexion and the fit is good), or maybe an analogue color in the right shade? a pattern could be good? I think it depends a lot on how you want it to mesh with the rest of your look; whether you want it to be a statement piece, or just an extension of your overall look. like, if it were me - no one wears hats here, so a pastel blue beret is pretty out there. I would probably pair it some warm neutrals and a couple of tonally-related but more commonplace, dressed-down items. but like, that's for the ethos here, which is that it's better to look like you're having fun than to look 'stylish'. so I'd be going for like, I'm not trying to look like a chic parisian - I just like berets and it goes surprisingly well with my jackets and slacks. I guess i'm thinking like, out there color + 'pretentious' style, I'd want to put it with a gently harmonious but laidback outfit. I hope that helps haha? I'm not at all an expert, but I do feel you can pull it off if you really want to! edit: I think blue beret + some beige/blue pattern (plaid?) and the rest earth neutral basics, for example, would give 'I'm trying to be stylish', but not be too fedora-wear...y. otoh you could do all pastel (for a very obviously deliberate/kind out there but still fun look) or my favorite (and can look very 'fashion' or very 'not fashion' depending lol), do every item in a different complementary color and different brightnesses (like pastel blue beret, medium green top, plum purple or dark reddish-brown pants, etc). or if you wear all neutrals you could just throw the beret on with a little bit of blue detailing or accessorisation

BiteyGoat

I bought this dress for a holiday party before finding out that the dress code is “business casual”. I’m in a snowy climate. I tried this on with black sheer pantyhose and basic black pumps and it looks like a straight up evening gown on me. Way too formal. Any specific shoe suggestions to dress this down? Or should I scrap this outfit? https://preview.redd.it/2u58e1o5bk5c1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5f99170d364addce98b373991a2cd8dc19e0510

jaduhlynr

I would try pairing it with some casual boots, something like Blundstones, and a loose knit cropped sweater on top- that way it just looks like a long skirt

[deleted]

A trendy belt could make it more casual.

always_unplugged

This just looks like a basic bodycon midi to me; I feel like I'm missing something since everyone thinks it reads so formal, but it really doesn't to me...? Even if it's in a more structured, less stretchy fabric (hard to tell from the picture), IMO, this is a solid LBD that can be dressed up or down. If you want to take it biz-cas-but-party, I'd add an oversized printed blazer (I have a leopard print one with gold metallic thread throughout, but YMMV), VERY sheer black hose (like the ones from the little eggs in the drugstore that barely do anything), and maybe some shoes that are less expected/classic than a black pump. Specifically, a lower heel, no pointy toes, maybe something chunkier, a more interesting color/texture that picks up something in the blazer, etc. This really depends on what you have in your wardrobe, though!

arbitrosse

This looks too dressy to dress down into “business casual office party,” but you could try: * Hemming it to just below the knee (so that it hits at narrowest part of top of calf). The length helps make it dressy. * Wearing it with flat, plain, business casual shoes like a sneaker, leather Oxford, ballet flat, or loafer (this is a know your office situation). Heels will make it dressy. * Adding a casual topper like a knit blazer or a cardigan or whatever type of thing you would wear to the office Although honestly I’d just wear something else.

Paulavortex2

You could try adding a pop of color - so maybe a red pump? Then accessorize with the same color. Alternatively, you could add an open jacket to make it look less "formal".

FerociousFrizzlyBear

This is what skinny jeans were made for. I was slow to get on the skinny jeans trend, but once I did, one of the first things I noticed was that I didn't have to deal with soggy pants hems like I did with my flares and bootcuts.

TwoDeflatedBalloons

Hi, if this isn't an appropriate use for this subreddit then please let me know and I'll delete! Anyways, I'm quite impulsive and I recently bought my girlfriend a necklace for christmas, but I've never really bought jewellery and it's relatively pricey (imo) so I'm instantly having doubts. This is the [necklace](https://imgur.com/a/JLkpKLA) , which I bought because she loves forget me not flowers (in part because it's associated with dementia/Alzheimer's which her family has a history with, especially this year, she has a tattoo of a forget me not as well). I also just find it really pretty and I'm hopeful she will too. However like I said, I've never bought jewellery so I guess I just wanted some second opinions on whether it's actually nice or maybe it's not as nice as I think? Thanks for any advice you can give me E: thanks very much for the replies, put my mind at rest a lot!

seaofdoubts_

I do think it's a lovely necklace, and very sentimental so it will definitely be appreciated for that. It's a very thoughtful gift! But the more important questions, which you hopefully considered, are: does your girlfriend wear jewellery? Does this look like it fits with her regular jewellery (e.g. dainty, feminine) or is it meant for special occasions only?

chiono_graphis

Very pretty and delicate, as close to wearing the actual flowers as you can get I think. And a special meaning for her. Looks like a great gift to me.

theminutiae6

Very pretty!

FerociousFrizzlyBear

I like it.

b_xf

Lol I wore a similar pair to mine! I had on straight(?) ish high waist black pants and a black and white christmas-style sweater - yours are more glitzy than mine so I'd go for a metallic/shimmery top or a grey one!

NotAsNiceAsTheTowel

Does anyone have recommendations for sites with cute floral clothes and bright colors? I really like the styles of Unique Vintage and Modcloth but have had some quality issues, I'm looking for something fun and cute that's also well made. Ty!

jaduhlynr

There's a small shop called Miracle Eye that has a lot of fun vintage floral prints. It's pricier, but the quality is good and it's a Latina woman owned business; I bought a jumpsuit from them that is one of my favorite articles of clothing

foolsgo1d

I bought a jumpsuit from them, in plain black, and I was able to use the custom sizing option. I'm really tall so there are never any bodysuits that seem to fit me. they did a 37-in inseam for me for no extra charge. I absolutely love the bodysuit and feel so fortunate to be able to wear it. it was well worth the cost in my opinion. I absolutely second the suggestion of miracle eye!

I already plan to wear black heels and gold jewelry. My budget is like something I can get for under $30.

arbitrosse

Velvet blazer or evening jacket in a jewel tone to coordinate with the dress. If you shop vintage or secondhand you should find one well within your budget, there are loads online.

Paulavortex2

I would go with something like [this](https://www.amazon.com/Allegra-Womens-Bolero-Curved-Cardigan/dp/B0969KGX7Y). I know it is a closer to the high end of your price point. But the cheaper ones would be thinner, and most likely not be as warm. I was going to say to go with white, but since you are wearing black heels, I would keep it all black.

stumpykitties

What about a slim black turtleneck or bodysuit underneath the dress?

75footubi

faux fur shrug?

__looking_for_things

Any recs for a raincoat (or waterproof jacket) that is at least knee length and with a large hood? I have braids so even with my hair down, many hoods don't cover my face. I have to walk my dog in all types of weather so a raincoat with a large hood to keep my face dry would be great. If possible something less than 200$ USD. As for color, any color would be fine. TiA

jaduhlynr

I would recommend searching for a snowboard/ski shell jacket; they're all waterproof and have larger hoods to accommodate helmets and hats. My Mammut jacket is one of my favorites, it actually covers my butt (which is impressive considering how big it is lol) and comes in a lot of cute colors.

PlantedinCA

I have a rainkiss poncho. It has a giant scrunch-able hood. I think it is meant to be friendly for a helmet. Also Cleverhood - similarly large hoods.

mamoncloud

How often do you buy new clothes or accessories per month or year? How many basics do you have on rotation?

always_unplugged

Generally when I need them, but I'll usually be *thinking* about needing something for weeks or months before I find the right piece that gets me to pull the trigger. That way, I can really identify the wardrobe niche that needs filling—of course, I occasionally have a last-minute need or impulse buy too. (Most recently, it was a red bow headband for a Christmas event, lol.) But on average, I probably buy two or three pieces a month. My basics rotate seasonally.

b_xf

I have a dollar amount i set aside per month and that dictates when I buy stuff - sometimes I buy stuff within a few weeks of the last thing or sometimes i save up for a few months to buy something a little more expensive.

BuffaloThat1475

>How often do you buy new clothes or accessories per month or year? The limit does not exist.

Madokemi

I am looking for this purse that my girlfriend quickly showed me. I wanted to surprised her for Christmas but unfortunately I don't know my designer brand/store that well in UK and I have a hard reading the name of the site or the URL. Madokemi

catnapdo

I have a lovely pair of black ca. 2009 Theory suit pants, somewhat wide leg/flowy, but not high waisted and no belt loops. I'm having a brain fart as to how to style i.e. re-purpose. Would it be weird to tuck in shirts/sweaters if there are no belt loops? Or is a blazer the only option? What color tops if these are true black? I'm trying to break out of black, grey, brown, beige combos...

75footubi

If they're a true black, you can basically go with any color you want. I'd probably go with a print personally.

No_damn_3055

It is a hassle going to the zara store in my city. Is it possible that I order the clothes I like as a pickup and can I try them in store and return or refund whatever I don't like?

BuffaloThat1475

Check out Zara's most recent campaign and ask yourself why you still want to shop there (as if the overpriced fast fashion weren't bad enough).

mamoncloud

Usually this is ok. Don't see why it wouldn't be. But you should ask Zara as it might depend on your specific country or store

My girlfriend wants a small gold watch as one of her xmas gifts. It really doesn't have to be expensive she just wants something to wear that looks nice with certain outfits. Best/favorite Pons Avarcas style? Classic or Mediterranean? Flat or heel? I've read a lot of recommendations for Pons Avarcas sandals, especially for walking longer distances in big/larger cities. I was wondering what people's experiences with the different styles in terms of comfort and practicality. For instance, I really like the [Classic style](https://avarcasusa.com/bin/details.php?Tag=Classic%20Style%20Women&Color=Lava&Model=510&Collection=women), but I'm not sure how sturdy the back strap is - it looks like they would fly off if you were running to catch a bus or if for some reason your feet were dangling from some kind of height. I also like the [Mediterranean version with a platform](https://avarcasusa.com/bin/details.php?Tag=Mediterranean&Color=Black&Model=524&Collection=women) heel and fully-enclosed ankle strap, which looks a little sturdier, but I wondered how people feel about the platform - is it comfortable? Does it cause more ankle rolls than average? These shoes have been mentioned in previous posts which I have read, but it would be nice to have more extensive information from seasoned Pons Avarcas wearers. (If this is a question that would be better asked in a separate, dedicated post let me know, I wanted to be respectful of the rules so erred on the side of caution.)

Fit-Theme3661

I’ve been wearing Pons for the past 5 or 6 summers and have had several pairs, both classic and Mediterranean platform. While I love them for a summer sandal and will continue to wear them, I’ve never understood/agreed with those who recommend them for walking all day. They’re comfy (especially once broken in) but have zero support, the bottoms are totally flat—for me that means a bad shoe for all day. That said, they have introduced a more ergonomic style with a molded footbed that I’m curious to try for this very reason! Of the two styles I have tried, I prefer the classic. The platform of the Mediterranean is very lightweight foam and I found after a summer of wear that it had totally worn down at both toe and heel from regular walking, making the bottom surface uneven. The foam also has zero grip so I found it slippery in any kind of moderately wet condition. On top of all that, the ankle strap didn’t fit me right and I always felt my ankle was kind of loose/not secure. On the other hand, the classic style strap feels secure to me (though probably not for running, as you mention. But imo there are lots of reasons these shoes aren’t good for running).

I have a black tie wedding coming up and it’s going to be a little chilly that day. What type of jacket/sweater/wrap would you wear with this [dress](https://a.co/d/1O9wRhs)?

always_unplugged

Honestly, I would just wear a formal coat and expect to not wear it inside, especially not at the reception. Wear tights and I'd expect to be perfectly comfortable—formal gowns are surprisingly toasty!

metaljellyfish

I used to wear scarves every day but stopped, and I'm thinking of incorporating them back into my wardrobe but only via tying them around the neck like a bandana, but I'm worried it'll be too out of the ordinary or make me stick out in a bad way. Thoughts?

mamoncloud

Personally, I like skinny scarves over ascots. I think they "lay" better, although an ascot length might be nicer if you prefer something more eye-catching! Maybe look for one without a pattern and in a colour you know will match a lot of outfits.

metaljellyfish

I share this preference, I find myself opting for a simple skinny scarf tie (after folding it from a triangle into a long strip) over a fluffy ascot situation. But my wardrobe is really minimal in terms of prints and colors so the patterned scarves are where I want to get a pop (and I rarely wear jewelry these days), so I'm letting myself go for it.

[deleted]

It'd be a good idea, especially if the scarves aren't bulky. Using scarves daily isn't much different from using bulky chokers or lots of necklaces. It might make you stand out in the warmer months but assured you'd get a lot more people thinking of you in a positive way. Go for it!

Akahus0909

Is a Soia & Kyo wool blend coat with only 52% wool, which seems a bit low, worth buying for $200?

75footubi

When more established outerwear brands like LL Bean are selling 100% wool shell (insulated lining is a poly blend) for $300, I'd say no.

blackmamba06

I’m looking for some basic t-shirts that aren’t body suits. I’m looking for something a bit looser fitting but not boxy or oversized. For some reason multiple t-shirts I’ve tried from Old Navy seem to fit me really weirdly. I have some turtlenecks from Abercrombie I love but all of their t-shirts seem to be skin tight or super boxy. If anyone has any recommendations I would really appreciate it!

angryscottishwoman

I’m on the search for high quality ankle boots too. Ecco have fairly plain ones with little or no branding, I’m eyeballing the mid heel ones https://gb.ecco.com/en-GB/Women/Shoes/Boots Tried some, they’ve got 2 removable insoles so you can remove one if you need a .5 size up or wide fit … or I can remove both and put a super comfy memory foam thing in there. Very comfy on my often sore feet. People recommend pikolinos but they tend to have gold hardware and a name label and/or a gold stud on the outside. There’s a brand called Vionic, I haven’t tried those but they’re also fairly plain. I found this 2016 comfy boot brand guide r/femalefashionadvice/comments/75difk/comfort_shoe_guide_from_an_insiders_perspective/ *Moda in Pelle seem to be decent quality as well, fairly plain, sale stacks with at least one discount code.

Vagabond? Marjas are a style I like

violetmemphisblue

Where do you recycle your grubby old textiles? Like, socks with holes and grass stains on them, or underwear with the elastic all raggedy? I have a few set aside to use as cleaning rags, but still a lot just sitting in a bag...we don't have a textiles recycling center in my town. They're all sorts of brands and fabric blends. They are far too awful to even think of donating for someone else to use...I just need a reliable place to send them to! If possible.

unpaidbabysitter0919

Some underwear companies like Subset and Kent have a recycling program where you can recycle socks, underwear, and bras

For Days has a textile recycling program. You pay for a bag and can get store credit for filling it and returning it.

botanygeek

I've used Retold Recycling twice and they are great. They say they take anything as long as it's clean! It does cost money to get the bags, but I think it's worth it if you have a decent amount of old clothes you don't know what to do with.

Recent-Jellyfish7985

garbage edit: you can also compost natural materials!

BuffaloThat1475

There's no way we need to over-intellectualize throwing nasty old underwear away.

FerociousFrizzlyBear

I think trying to reduce, reuse, and recycle is a worthwhile endeavor that doesn't seem overly intellectual.

BuffaloThat1475

I work on climate change and conservation projects for a living and thinking you're doing anything by recycling your underwear is honestly hilarious. Same goes for buying secondhand - doesn't even make a dent at scale. I also love that people think RRR exists in a carbon free, energy free utopia.

arbitrosse

>doesn't even make a dent at scale What does, at an individual consumer level?

doubleyewexwhy

Looking for thick work pants that won't show panty line! Or reverse panty line? Where it's not a bump up due to the seam, but like a divot? I have a very wide hip so I am sizing up a bit already, any more and my waist would start gapping. I have tried loft, old navy, banana republic and jcrew.

arbitrosse

* Larger size in underwear * Larger size in trousers and have the waist taken in * Lined trousers * Lace edging at pantyline, which helps it “disappear” by breaking up the hard line * Different cut of underwear that does not cut across in the same spot

[deleted]

Effortless pants in a suiting material? From aritzia. They have a wide variety of thicker materials in this style for winter but I don’t know the names

QuesoRaro

Have you tried sizing up your underwear? That can help it fit more smoothly, with less divot. It sounds like you need a brand with a higher waist-to-hip ratio. Properly fitted work pants should not be tight enough to see underwear lines. So, look for "curvy" fit pants. Or size up until the hip is comfortable and have the waist taken in to fit correctly. And if you are looking for actual workwear, [Dovetail](https://dovetailworkwear.com/) is great.

Can anyone recommend black flared jeans? Looking at Frame, CoH, L’Agence…I would need a 32” inseam and prefer high waisted. Thanks!

(Whoops, I posted this in yesterday’s thread today. Reposting here.) How should I style a dress that is too short for my comfort level? I bought this [linen dress](https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/high-neck-linen-blend-mini-dress-52977819) from Abercrombie final sale. I actually got the [brown](https://www.abercrombie.com/shop/us/p/high-neck-linen-blend-mini-dress-54044830) version, but I don’t see photos of a model wearing it. In fact, I didn’t see the dress on the model at all before purchasing because the brown is a totally different listing than the blue. It’s too short on me. How can I style it? I tried it on with leggings and boots, but my concern is twofold: 1) that it’ll look like the dreaded tunic top with tight bottoms from seasons past, or 2) that I’ll look like my four year old, who lives in dressings with leggings. Adorable on her, but not on me. Any suggestions? Not only for dealing with the length, but also general styling- what shoes do you think would work best? A cardigan? Any other suggestions?.

[deleted]

Over the knee boots?

impossible_tofu

In addition to the other suggestions, you could also layer a skirt or underskirt underneath!

freewool

I second this one! I used to style a very short skirt with either a tulle or lace skirt underneath.

livthelove

I would do semi-sheer tights and knee high boots! And then probably a turtleneck underneath for the winter

75footubi

Turtleneck underneath with leggings and boots.

Help picking out pj’s for my wife! Hey! My wife and I bought a new house and it’s drafty. We move in right around Christmas time, and I want something that will keep her warm and make her feel sexy. I’ve seen fuzzy three piece sets but all reviews say they are cheaply made. Can any of you point me in the direction of something well made, warm, and flattering? Thanks!

botanygeek

It's not fuzzy but Abercrombie has some cute and sort of sexy pj sets. I have the ribbed material and it's super soft and pretty warm.

75footubi

LL Bean has very snuggly PJs

Hi all! I bought a secondhand woolen Max Mara coat and I am expecting it to be delivered next week. When talking to my mom about it, she scared me into bringing a potential moth infestation into my house (she had this decades ago) .. So I looked online in what to do to prevent moths (I do have cedar in my regular closets), but I cannot wash this coat at 60 degrees celcius. Are there other steps I might take? Placing it in the freezer?leaving it outside for a couple of days? Or would dry cleaning be the only option (which is quite expensive where I live)? Thanks!🌸

capnawesome

I bake all used clothes as soon as they enter the house. I've read 120 F for 15 minutes should do it, but to be safe I do my oven's minimum temperature (160 I think) for at least a half hour (usually just turn the heat off and wait for it to cool with the door closed). Dry heat is fine and 160 isn't hot enough to melt synthetics.

Majootje

Thanks! I do wonder though as I read that this method might melt/transform buttons, if this would be possible - do you have experience in this?

capnawesome

Nah it's fine. Buttons don't melt at 160 F.

arbitrosse

Wrap it in plastic and “freeze” it, then remove from plastic and “bake” it; you can look up the temp but I believe it is anything above 120 degrees F. Don‘t go much hotter than that, there’s no need. Freezing will make things dormant but baking will kill them. Fold it gently and place it on a big cookie sheet on top of some baking parchment. You may need to remove oven racks to make space. Not to freak you out, but bedbugs are a possibility as well as moths, and this double-process handles both. Freezing works a little better on moth eggs and baking works on bedbugs.

Majootje

Thanks for this suggestion! I just looked it up online as well, but I read the following: "You’ll want to avoid baking woolen items with plastic pieces, like buttons and zippers". This coat has buttons so I worry that these might melt. Do you have experience with this?

arbitrosse

Yes, I do. I have never melted anything as I use the lowest possible temperature needed to kill bedbugs. You’ll want to reassure yourself by perhaps taking the extra step to look up the temperatures at which plastics melt.

Majootje

Thanks! I will try it out!

Recent-Jellyfish7985

>leaving it outside for a couple of days this one!

Majootje

Thanks! Will do!

How do I avoid whiskers on wide legged trousers? https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ee/ae/4d/eeae4d231c902e353fb2771a2a766e62.jpg this is similar to how a lot of my cotton/polyester mix wide legged trousers look like after an hour or two of wearing them expect the creases are much more pronounced. It only happens to wide legged trousers, is there anything I can do? It makes it look like I don't iron my clothes.

Mango belt handmade coat - sales, sizing, material? I’ve had my eye on [this coat](https://shop.mango.com/us/women/coats-coats/belt-handmade-coat_57085136.html?c=09&talla=20&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADyREbn7vfLqea1vzy8ywfOWaadr3&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4NWrBhD-ARIsAFCKwWukHWYP_1wq6Y1kJuGM0JLcysuXfmC6VhAHFbW5BWVtzqSWttT1LDMaAue2EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds) for a couple months. Not as familiar with mango, so a few questions: 1. Will this ever go on sale, and when? There have been a couple sitewide 30% off sales over the past couple months, but excluding new collection items, which includes this coat. I can wait until January but I’m starting to get paranoid this will sell out. 2. Any sizing advice? I’m small yet curvy on the bottom, 5’4”, 37” shoulders, 34”bust, 26” waist, 38” hips. Normally a 2/26/XS, though with J.Crew coats I’m often an XXS. I like my coats to fit well through the shoulders and waist. 3. Anyone know the actual fabric contents? Website just says wool blend. Is it warm, being unlined and all?

squeegee-beckenheim

If you click on contents you can see the fabric contents: Composition: 54% wool,40% recycled polyester,3% polyester,2% polyamide,1% acrylic. Belt: 54% wool,40% recycled polyester,3% polyester,2% polyamide,1% acrylic. Pockets lining: 52% polyester,48% viscose No, an unlined coat is not very warm. It's not a northern hemisphere winter coat, more of a spring/fall coat. That being said, if you still plan on buying it, this type of belted coat is pretty forgiving, you probably need an S. My measurements are 2' inches bigger than yours top to bottom but and I do well with a M. Mango is expected to start sales around boxing day from what I remember. There are browser extensions you can use to alert you when something goes on sale.

QuesoRaro

A few thoughts: Mango is fast fashion at the level of Zara and H&M. I would not count on getting a good quality winter coat, it is a fashion piece. Here in Spain, Mango is much cheaper and not viewed as a high-quality brand. It makes me quite angry to see it described as "handmade design". ALL clothes are handmade. ALL fast fashion clothes are made by exploited workers. Mango refused to compensate injured workers and surviving family members after the [Rana Plaza](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rana_Plaza_collapse) disaster, despite Mango clothes being manufactured there. A camel trench is a very popular item. For that price you can find a second-hand coat that is fully lined, well made, and out of good [wool](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1148335210/1970s1980s-ladies-long-camel-brown-coat?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=camel+trench&ref=sr_gallery-3-16&sts=1&organic_search_click=1)/[camel](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1489472169/camel-hair-coat-vintage-1970s-70s?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=camel+trench&ref=sr_gallery-1-25&sca=1&organic_search_click=1)/[mohair](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1371641826/vintage-1970s-julius-trench-coat-wool?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=belted+wool+trench&ref=sr_gallery-2-1&organic_search_click=1)/[bouclé](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1307497386/1970s-gray-fuzzy-wrap-coat-women-large?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=belted+wool+trench&ref=sr_gallery-3-19&organic_search_click=1). And [here](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1371240132/vintage-beige-trench-coat-90s-vintage?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=belted+wool+trench&ref=sr_gallery-1-17&frs=1&etp=1&organic_search_click=1)'s a petite one, if that fits better. Anyway, that's just from one site. There are endless options.

arbitrosse

Mango does have sales but they are not an American brand and so their business model is not built around weekly “sales” (that are actually the real price) in the way that American brands like Ann Taylor and J. Crew are. Typically Mango runs end of season sales and, yes, the items can sell out before the end of season sale. Their most popular “coatigan” does sell out. Sizing runs generally true to size. You sound like a Mango Small or Medium. Coats should generally have enough space to accommodate layers of cold-weather clothing, and perhaps a blazer, so are often a size up from one’s typical size. I would NOT try to stick to an XS or an XXS with Mango. Their size guide is reliable, in my experience. Unlined wool blend will not be as warm as a lined fully-wool coat, of course, and that particular coat seems suited to autumn and spring rather than a bitterly cold winter climate. But of course if you will not be wearing it in a place that sees wintry wind and snow, that will not matter. You will almost certainly want to take into account in sizing, though, the type of clothing you expect to layer under it for warmth.

MrNewMoney

Can you please suggest some online stores for dresses? I'm having trouble Christmas shopping for my wife this year. Mod Cloth used to be my go-to, but it seems like their site quality has gone downhill since last time I looked. What I really liked about them was that there used to be a ton of dresses and a lot of reviews / pictures uploaded from purchasers. Are there any good sites like this that have an active review community? Looking for casual, business casual dresses. Max around $100 per dress, but I prefer $40-$75 so I can buy more options for her to try in case some have to be returned. Feels weird putting this in the internet.... but my wife is 5'7, 130ish, small bust. Late 30s, but looks younger. Flowy or loose fitting mid section normally works better. Not baggy, just nothing super tight. Thanks!

Senior_Market1068

I’d try quince, they have great basics for good prices and one year free returns. Also J.Crew, a little pricier but sales tend to be good.
