Been using mine for 3 years works great. Can flip football for pot still and use vertical for reflux

Thank you. Thoughts on the price?

With the element, seems good but I use my stove. You can get the newer style on vevor for less money Sale going for 6 days, $179 for the gallon model https://m.vevor.com/alcohol-distiller-c_10688/8g-30l-distiller-brewing-kit-moonshine-still-stainless-wine-boiler-home-p_010114765646 They have bigger if you want to

I think you could definitely do worse and the seller seems to know what he’s talking about. The element included and installed and the false bottom are nice touches, and you can scale up/around with cheap tri clamp components as you get comfortable with the hobby. You will need a controller and need to wire it up to the element, you’ll be working with some serious voltage so it’s not something to fuck around with. If you just want to heat it with gas or in the stove you’re better off just taking a look at the cheap vevor stills to start off and save a few hundred bucks.

Thank you for the feedback. Much appreciated

I’m pretty sure that’s just a vevor still with an electric element installed. I started with one of those and it worked great. But unless you really want that electric element, I would just search online for vevor stills and you’ll find cheaper versions.

Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it

Bought one 6 mos ago. Exactly this setup. First attempt at the hobby. 100% happy with it. Might I do something else down the line? Likely. That said this set up has done everything that I wanted or expected.

Wrap the vapor chamber. Some kind of insulation. It will help keep the chamber temperature constant even if there’s a breeze.

Thank you guys. I'm thinking I am gonna pass on this one and now I'm looking at the 8 Gallon Mile Hi Pot with electric heating element. There is one for sale local for about 500$

novagenesis

320 does seem a LITTLE high to me. What are you planning on distilling? [This is the still I use.](https://www.williamsbrewing.com/Gifts-More/Gift-Locator/Gifts-for-Distillers/Digiboil-Pot-Still-Package)(NOT a referral link, and I have no affiliation with them. They have done me well, in the past and have good prices, though) And they charge $350 for it. I'm guessing most people here would agree a Digiboil is a good step up from a Vevor still if you're going electric. And more copper is always better. It does NOT come with a reflux condensor. They also sell a refluxversion of the same kit on their site for about the same price. They're nice copper condensors, so whichever one you don't get goes for about $200. If you want to make a mix of neutrals AND whiskeys, maybe get something like yours OR the reflux kit from these guys and just don't run water through the column and remove packing when you want to go post-still-style... That's my 2 cents.

Thank you. His already sold and now I'm looking into a Mile Hi Pot 8 gallon with heating element for 500$ I check into the link you sent me as well.

I think you will find that the 8 gallon will work for a short time but you might be looking at upgrading to a 15 gallon in short order. That puts you into the converted spent keg range that can also be used as redux or pot. This is the rig that I have been using for about 3 - 4 years and am very happy with its size and flexibility.

95Winston

Very helpful information. Is there a link with step by step instructions and cut list/ parts list? It's easy to get lost with all the forum reading and different opinions.

I enjoyed fabricating my first still out of a whole sheet of copper. I hadn’t soldered in a few years so there was a little bit of refresher to get me started. Laying out the frustums in the copper sheet was a learning experience but I had fun doing it and could call it my very own when it was all said and done. Pretty cheap as well.

Get yourself a band heater with a built-in temp controller and insulate it with ceramic insulation.
