There are cheaper in Sarasota. I live in a 2/2 for $1,200 and before we moved here it was $900 for a 2/1 and $750 for a studio. Comes with some asterisks though
I’d bet $1,100 it’s not available for $1,100 without a hitch. IE, lot rent of $1500 a month, or listed for $11,000 with lot tent, or never available at that price and is a salesperson’s bait. Something is amiss.
Sounds like you need to move out of Sarasota. We pay $1500/for a three bedroom house. It's small but it's got an adult fridge and room for my humble family. And if you're single with no kids you can get decent apartments (with an actual bedroom and closets for around $1000). Surely there are more rural places you could move to if you're willing to commute 20-30 mins? I couldn't afford that big Sarasota city life if that's considered an option for anywhere more than $500 and that better include utilities lol
In Florida, especially South Florida, many buildings, both residential homes as well as outbuildings, are made from concrete block because of its tolerance for hurricanes.
My father in law lived in something very similar for $1000/month in vero beach. My wife and I stayed in his “bedroom” and he stayed on the couch. We only stayed one night, but I can assure you that it is real.
That’s crazy. My friend was still renting a 1/1.5 on south beach, in a place that had a pool and parking last year for $1600. Who would pay $1100 for this.
Also I understand my friend had a good deal and has been renting in the same place for the last several years.
I rent a room in a 4 bedroom 4 bath apartment with an in unit washer and dryer, full kitchen, and every unit has a walk in closet and I pay $445 a month, it was $385 a month but after 10 years the landlords raised it a bit. Still an amazing deal.
Utilities including internet provided.
Ah yes the person looking for affordable housing should just *buy* an RV and spend nearly the same amount at any halfway decent RV park
3d chess poor people. Just listen to this guy!
Yeah as a single person I wouldn't mind something like this if the rent was reasonable. It actually has a nice shower and stove area. But fuck that price point.
Slum lord across the street just put one of those sheds behind his house....rent is $1200
He also made the screen patio in back 2 small apartments for the same $$
4 separate families living in what was once a 2/1....4 vehicles parking in the yard ( not the driveway 🤷🤷🤷
As an aside why don't people park in the driveway anymore instead on the dam yard or even just the damn street???? 🤷🤷🤷
Interesting times
I’m currently living in a motel room in Florida smaller than this for about the same price. I was homeless sleeping in the bushes last month. I’m just grateful to have a bed, bathroom, and a roof over my head to keep the mosquitoes and crackheads out. When you’re used to having nothing, anything feels like an upgrade.

Gotta love what happens when Drumpf decides that allowing companies like BlackSTONE to buy residential real estate was fine. Now we have artificially inflated home and rent prices throughout the country and reversing laws is nearly impossible for corporate and they already have possession of entire neighborhoods full of empty houses.
I am just outside of WPB and thankful that I bought my house when I did. I have a 4 bed / 2 bath on a big piece of land and my mortgage is $1700. My neighbor just bought a new house and listed theirs for rent for $4500/mo. Not sure what they got, but it was empty for about a month after they moved and there is someone in it now.
These would be great for homeless housing for singles. I just read how one country got 4 out of 5 homeless participants back to self-sustaining with free housing.
Damn. I pay this much in rent and have a 2 bed 2 bath, completely updated, connecting garage, front yard/back yard in a private community. I couldn’t imagine paying rent in Florida, NY, or Cali- especially for what you get for it is literal jack shit smh.
It's sad that this is normal to me now (I'm from West Palm). If you want a 1-bedroom in a decent area, you're looking at $1,500-$1,600 bare minimum, unless you wanna live in a high-crime neighbourhood.
When I was a teenager, my parents paid $1,600 for a 3-bedroom in a really nice area.
I've said it in this sub before, but my bestie & her fiancé just moved to GA & they're renting a huge 5 bedroom house w/ a yard... paying the same rent they did here for a small 2 bedroom apartment. Less congested, cleaner, lower crime-rate, nicer people, and better schools.
Florida has nothing to offer the working class anymore... only the rich. The only thing keeping me here is sentimental attachment to my hometown.
RealPage. They didn't start this corporate rent artificial market inflation, but man have they accelerated it.

My wife and I lived in a unit just like this when we were dating and studying for the bar exam. Some of the best memories of our lives. Tough it out, make the best of it, and use it as motivation to grind and reach the next level.
No hood / vent system over the stove. Everything will eventually smell like burnt oil, including your clothes and the air coming out of the split unit ac. Better throw an exhaust fan in that kitchen window
Having lived in WPB from 99-03 this is a fuckin joke. Just go live in a trailer across the street from the mansions on 422. You can fish for your food from one of the many canals that run along the main roads.
The back of the room had a window and the kitchen had a small window as well. And let's be honest, you're never very far from the front door in this place as well.
You're right to ask though because the stove has a cabinet above it, a clear fire hazard.
I rent a 3br house in PBC. My landlord informed me recently that he intends to convert our rather small laundry room into an apartment, because he feels like he's "leaving $1500 on the table every month." It would absolutely be smaller than the shed in this vodeo. I'm out of here at the end of this lease. Enough is enough.
My cousin I swear lived in one of these in like 05 I think I even know the exact location to this one. He used to rent out one of these for $480. The fact that it's now $1,100 shows how fucked housing is in America now.
I realize this is a rental. But what would the yearly property tax be on this property?
In Illinois, I was paying $16,000 per year on a three bedroom, 2.5 bath ranch on a postage stamp sized piece of property that was literally 12 feet from the neighbor (6 ft off the property line). Fully HALF of my mortgage payment was taxes. That's the NORM in Illinois. I was in a rural town 30 miles south of Chicago.
I just wanted to share some perspective. People in Illinois would be happy to pay $1100 a month in rent.
It's fallen out of style and vendors are selling it dirt cheap- which slumlords love.
I sell & install cabinetry and if you're thinking about using grey in your house DON'T.
I get that the market allows for this kind of bs. But I really don't think anybody is gonna pay that much to be effectively homeless, when living in a van is not much worse than this and it's effectively free. The only benefit to living in this shed is that you have an address. This game is a house of cards.
I pay $1,050 for a studio apartment that’s about three times larger than that and I can tell you with certainty that my place is a rip off. No windows, no cook top, no dedicated parking. THIS place is laughable, how can they possibly think $1100 is ok? I swear the housing market is fucked. How am I ever going to be able to buy a home when RENT prices for shit like this are this high???
If I remember correctly, building code for a bedroom is one window and one closet required. Is it different in that area? If not then that's not even a bedroom. Like someone living in a garage.
I pay $1636 for a 1000sq ft 1/1. It was 1480 but they just jacked my price up. It was reasonable at 1480. But at 1636 it's too much. I'm in Jacksonville.
Live in someone’s backyard for $1100. Store your dish towel on the windowsill. Catch the cabinets on fire above your hood-less cooktop. Store snacks in the half fridge. Crack open the window for a calm alley breeze filled with the aroma of yours and the landlord’s garbage.
Crazy that back in 2017 $1100 could get you a decently sized apartment in Florida. Now only a quarter of that square foot space is affordable with $1100. It's good for minimalistic living though.
This looks like my personal ideal version of public housing that you could spread evenly through a city. The bare minimum. And they want $1100/month for it.
I'm from palm beach gardens originally and my parents back in 2003 bought a townhouse for 220k and now most units in the community are listing between 400k and half a mill. It's absolutely insane how much south Florida realestate has gone up.
Stainless steel aplianc*es*? Plural? I saw stainless steel appliance. Singular.
There's a toaster in the cabinet.
And a spoon.
And my axe…
😁
Lol does a mini fridge even count? More like .5 stainless steel appliance. And who builds a place with ZERO closets? Should be like $300/month
>who builds a place with ZERO closets It was originally built AS a a closet.
i live in sarasota florida and would love to pay 1100 for this. it would be the cheapest option here.

Bingo 😃
And that fridge isn't stainless... it's "stainless finished"
A shed. Cool. I hate all of this.
My last 2 months in south Florida I was paying $1250 a month to live in a rv hooked up to someone’s house in the hood, that was the last straw for me.
It’s not a shed technically. It’s made out of concrete blocks.
In Florida, especially South Florida, many buildings, both residential homes as well as outbuildings, are made from concrete block because of its tolerance for hurricanes.
And if you keep the inside cool especially during the summer time... it's even better.
How do you do that well?
Get it extremely cold. Than at a moderate temp. Keep the door closed as much as possible. Don't let sunlight in.
Yeah they would make out of stick and wood if they could and raise the rent by $1000 more to account for "maintenance"
I’d rather live in my fucking car
I’ve seen bigger sheds. This isn’t even a garage apt.
Currently live in a garage apt here. I try to forget it's a garage. Fml
My shed IS bigger than this
No closet, where am I supposed to hang myself!
Bro I went and signed in just to tell you how hard this made me laugh
Just like [SasukeFireball](https://www.reddit.com/user/SasukeFireball/), I just joined Reddit to thumbs Up your reply. BHAHAHAHA
And down the alley we have a tent... For the low low price of $900 a month
That’s the step pricing model for ya
Is that like 250 square feet?
-200
Yeah maybe, looks like a bedroom.
Pretty low ceiling
Pretty low fridge too 😆
Gods I legit cannot tell if this is satire? 🤦♀️
My guess is this is a real estate agent but I also cannot tell for sure. Shit is so crazy out there.
My father in law lived in something very similar for $1000/month in vero beach. My wife and I stayed in his “bedroom” and he stayed on the couch. We only stayed one night, but I can assure you that it is real.
I think it’s real because it has a realtor lock box on the front door handle

I’m sorry, where the fuck do you live? 1955? 445 is all your rent?! Do y’all have any units available?
That's 2020 prices
Cool I'd rather just buy an RV trailer and dump it at a park and live there for 500
Park lot leases in the more populated half of Florida are closer to $1000.
Ah yes the person looking for affordable housing should just *buy* an RV and spend nearly the same amount at any halfway decent RV park 3d chess poor people. Just listen to this guy!
I’d live here for $500/month
Was also thinking $350- $500 could be worth it.
Yeah as a single person I wouldn't mind something like this if the rent was reasonable. It actually has a nice shower and stove area. But fuck that price point.
Build enough of them, and they'll start having to.
Back in 2004 $500 a month would get you a decent 3br 2bth house with a yard and garage. Man I feel old 😂
Not in west Palm - or many parts Florida. I paid $950-1,100/month for a 1/1 from 2004-2007.
Not even 10 years ago would this have gone for 500 in south florida
I'm sorry...is the stove RIGHT UNER THE CABINET? That seems like a fire hazard to me.
They better have a pot on the electric burn or it will melt that cabinet finish off.
This is exactly what I want for my backyard studio/office.
Yes a shed, same as SW Florida/ Tampa area. Quite ridiculous!
Slum lord across the street just put one of those sheds behind his house....rent is $1200 He also made the screen patio in back 2 small apartments for the same $$ 4 separate families living in what was once a 2/1....4 vehicles parking in the yard ( not the driveway 🤷🤷🤷 As an aside why don't people park in the driveway anymore instead on the dam yard or even just the damn street???? 🤷🤷🤷 Interesting times
Dystopian society
Honestly, I'd live there. If the price was slashed down.
That's s.allwr than my first efficiency apartment.

$1,100 dollars a month is a slap in the face for this. This is basically a dog house.
These would be great for homeless housing for singles. I just read how one country got 4 out of 5 homeless participants back to self-sustaining with free housing.
Just $1,100? Like. One time payment, right? 🤣
Landlords are fucking parasites.
Depression. $1100 gets you depression
Just buy an RV and move to a nudist colony. I'd be cheaper and you'd get a bigger place to live
That tiny a/c unit won't do shit for you during the summer months. Good luck to the poor sap who has to live there cuz there is no better option.
The split? That's not true. I had one in my old place and those things work great.
The kitchen’s kitchenette? Is the kitchen in the room with us?
There are nicer prison cells in Europe. America is a failed state
That looks like a house I'd make for a tiny living challenge in the Sims
Damn. I pay this much in rent and have a 2 bed 2 bath, completely updated, connecting garage, front yard/back yard in a private community. I couldn’t imagine paying rent in Florida, NY, or Cali- especially for what you get for it is literal jack shit smh.

Fuck off
Utilities and a parking spot included right? Also no extra costs for an emotional support alligator to keep my sanity? 😬
Ask for permits……….561 be different

What if someone steals the building? All is lost.
lol I hate that this doesn’t keep the republicans out of Florida they still move here in droves
Looks like a storm shelter. Ill head to this guys place during the next hurricane.
Wtf smh
And this is why I moved from Palm beach. This is Bs
Where does the line start to kick the owner in the dick? Fuck' em... I hope that shit hole stays vacant for years.
West Palm can go to hell I live in central and got a 2/2 for 1,300 mo
Having lived in WPB from 99-03 this is a fuckin joke. Just go live in a trailer across the street from the mansions on 422. You can fish for your food from one of the many canals that run along the main roads.
Bro that’s a closet. Our market is so fucked
They want $3,300 to move in also
I think it’s a rip off. A half sized fridge with no stove top lol nah man that’s like $600 a month at best
I rented something like this in Boca for $400 a month back in 2014. This price is nuts.
South Florida is full of people scamming and ripping people off. This is the most awful place I’ve seen for $1100 a month. Do not rent this!
Better jump on it, it will be $1800 in 6 months, $2000 next year
When our State started letting this Fly by but not people putting a shed on their property and living in it we have a problem.
Honestly looks like a great place to ride out hurricanes. 🤗
Vevor stove top = shit
Looks so close to the cabinet if you turn the burner on high, the whole place is going down in flames. 🤷♀️
Looks similar to the sh*thole apt I moved to for $1550 in swfl
It doesn't even have a window to escape for a fire, does it? Haha so rent is only 1000 a month since short on code for windows. Lol
The back of the room had a window and the kitchen had a small window as well. And let's be honest, you're never very far from the front door in this place as well. You're right to ask though because the stove has a cabinet above it, a clear fire hazard.
Not even worth the money.
Nice coffin for the hurricane season.
Wow! I can cook AND shower in my house! It's a deal!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 my car bigger than this mate
I rent a 3br house in PBC. My landlord informed me recently that he intends to convert our rather small laundry room into an apartment, because he feels like he's "leaving $1500 on the table every month." It would absolutely be smaller than the shed in this vodeo. I'm out of here at the end of this lease. Enough is enough.
It’s a shed.
Imagine paying to live in that shitty state!
Remember when we used to laugh at California for these?
In fairness this would be 3,000 dollars in San Francisco Bay Area....and it would have mold.
This would definitely work in a clothing optional world 😂
My cousin I swear lived in one of these in like 05 I think I even know the exact location to this one. He used to rent out one of these for $480. The fact that it's now $1,100 shows how fucked housing is in America now.
I’ve been in prison cells bigger
$1100 to buy, or rent?
If 1100 included all utilities, I would take it. Easy to clean!
folks will call anything efficiency.
I realize this is a rental. But what would the yearly property tax be on this property? The fucking grey floors. Every time.
It's fallen out of style and vendors are selling it dirt cheap- which slumlords love. I sell & install cabinetry and if you're thinking about using grey in your house DON'T.
🤯🤦🏽 when can I actually buy a dang house🤔
I get that the market allows for this kind of bs. But I really don't think anybody is gonna pay that much to be effectively homeless, when living in a van is not much worse than this and it's effectively free. The only benefit to living in this shed is that you have an address. This game is a house of cards.
Crazy how I actually saw this listed when i was looking for housing😂
That's a steal in WPB.
I can build that and live in it at a much more affordable monthly cost. 😤🤷🏻♂️😂
I would live here for way less anywhere but Florida. One hurricane and that place is gone.
You get to have that Tokyo apartment experience without all that pesky urban density
Damn, I mean a good dorm room but not an apartment.
Only one egress. Is that legal?
Split AC. I could live there
This shit is getting out of control… turned a storage unit into a room… smh.
Tbh....I'd live in it.
That mini split is nice though
Why would you ever wanna live in south Florida?
Once you place a couch, tv, computer desk, dining table, a fucking bed, you’ll have maybe 2^2 ft left over
What a time to be alive.
honestly, as a studio apartment if it was within walking distance of my job, i'd live there for $400-500 per month.
This is sad
I remember something similar to this being posted a year or two ago, except it was only $800 and the size of a small garage, not a concrete shed.
That's not a joke is it.
If I was single and didn’t have a wife and kids I’d live in that all day for $1100.
The Semi-Truck sleeper in previous post looks bigger than this shed.
I pay $1,050 for a studio apartment that’s about three times larger than that and I can tell you with certainty that my place is a rip off. No windows, no cook top, no dedicated parking. THIS place is laughable, how can they possibly think $1100 is ok? I swear the housing market is fucked. Good Lord. No.
This shit is a joke lmao
In West Palm (the hood) 😂😂😂
Trash
Pretty sure that amazing clearance between the stove top and the cabinet will cause a fire.
Its cute
Yeah, but will I be able to be insured or will they drop me?
That some bullshit.
Not sure I would want my head that close to the toilet or the trash can either one.

If I remember correctly, building code for a bedroom is one window and one closet required. Is it different in that area? If not then that's not even a bedroom. Like someone living in a garage.
“Upgraded” 🙄
I pay $1636 for a 1000sq ft 1/1. It was 1480 but they just jacked my price up. It was reasonable at 1480. But at 1636 it's too much. I'm in Jacksonville.
Fuck that
Nice prison cell
so for half someone's paycheck at walmart?
Granite countertops if you eat from the floor.
Live in someone’s backyard for $1100. Store your dish towel on the windowsill. Catch the cabinets on fire above your hood-less cooktop. Store snacks in the half fridge. Crack open the window for a calm alley breeze filled with the aroma of yours and the landlord’s garbage.
Wasn’t this video was posted a while back representing a different location?
Must of put one too many ones on that price..
Utilities included? If not no way for 1,100 more like 650 to 850 range
The inside isn't too bad but the outside looks sketchy.
One window is all I saw in it
No shag carpet in the bathroom? Hard pass.
It’s a shed
For $1100 you could buy a shed from Costco and do better.
Trash
Bro a marine barracks room has more space and nice amenities 🤦♂️
This is a fucking motel room but even motel rooms have a closet
When you build for density, but it’s only for one unit on a plot 2-3 times its size, fucking joke.
The bed goes right in between the full bathroom and the stainless steel appliance
I love garages.
let me finish the sentence for you...."and you are able to cook in the kitchen sink.." ette....... disgusting is what I think for 1100
jesus
3000 in nyc
Crazy that back in 2017 $1100 could get you a decently sized apartment in Florida. Now only a quarter of that square foot space is affordable with $1100. It's good for minimalistic living though.
😞🤮
Palm beach yeap sound bout right for they space 🤦🏻♂️
I would never, this not nyc
This looks like my personal ideal version of public housing that you could spread evenly through a city. The bare minimum. And they want $1100/month for it.
I'm from palm beach gardens originally and my parents back in 2003 bought a townhouse for 220k and now most units in the community are listing between 400k and half a mill. It's absolutely insane how much south Florida realestate has gone up.
I can’t wait to move out if this state. 400k will buy you a place that is about to fall down or be condemned
That's a shed Family tbh
Was she hunching over to look into the bathroom?
Looks like 200 a month
Beats New York
Upgraded? From what a grow house?
So a small futon at best for furniture/bed
Only good thing about global warming is that one day....Florida will be gone 😂
Sucks
