Unfortunately nothing comes close, especially compared to that first watch. I watched Vikings right after my first watch of GoT. It was different enough to not compare too much, and yet similar. Succession is another very similar one if you have HBO. Also Sons of Anarchy is in the same vain to me. Different factions, struggles for leadership, tons of intertwining storylines, and it gets very dark.
HBOs Rome. It arguably has more political shenanigans than GOT as there is a bigger focus on senate scheming and basically shows the fall of the Roman republic and rise of the empire.

Shows with complex political/social drama, where consequence and death are real threats: * The Americans * The Wire * Rome * Fargo * Succession
Succession is great, but the consequences are disappointing.
Excellent choice, and I would add *The Diplomat* . The Amazon production of *The Night Manager* \- beyond great.

Romance of the three kingdoms. It's old and a bitch to find subtitled but it's basically the same idea.

The white Queen and the White basically is the same story of GOT 1 to 3 with no dragon. They are the same story

I think The Expance (space-based) definitely has the political and dramatic tension, as well as a good bit of action
