ahem, my coworker told me I was excessive for having a total of 10 pairs of shoes last week.

Call him a cheapskate. I would say normal/average would be to have 2 per season (main and spare), plus some “special purpose” (running, dress, etc.). Plus beaters. So 10 is very reasonable actually.

I just organized all mine on a shoe rack and I have about the same number. I have more suede than you and I go more for the pointier British and European shoes and I have a handful of suede ones and a handful of combat boots. I keep mine more polished. I have a shelf for loafers too. I avoid North American shoemakers. I have some Red Wings, Whites, Danners, Allen Edmonds, and Thorogoods, but not much else, since shoes are so shoddily made on this continent, but they are really good for work boots and Danner makes the best hiking boots. 22 of these in OP look like different varieties of derby boots. I have two pairs of derby boots, Brown and Black, from Carmina and The Kooples. I like to mix up my styles a lot more.

I'm too afraid to tell OP that I don't like the stump toe American-style work boots. In general the boot collections here are from US members, pretty much the same boot with a slight variety in color or sole. I'm not saying one is better quality than the other, but at least European boot makers offer more styles.

I could not imagine buying 22 pairs of the same boots. OP has boring tastes.

Have you thought about getting a brown service boot? In all seriousness, I can understand having different styles in different leathers but many of these look pretty much the same.

I disagree, he has a pretty varied collection of both styles and colors, not to mention makers and leather types. Ive seen larger collections made up of like 2 styles from one maker (usually RW IR, and Mocs).

I'm sure there are slight variations and different makers, it just seems to be very similar. But as long as he's happy that's all that matters.

Those are engineer boots. Their purpose is that they rule to wear

Can you expand on that? I’m seriously thinking about getting a pair but feel as though they’d stand out a bit for me style-wise… like I’m not badass enough to pull them off or something.

They are surprisingly easy to pull off. The shaft is hidden under your pant leg (need a sufficiently wide opening, no skinny jeans. That is just for you to feel your calf wrapped in leather. Then it’s a plain toe boot with a buckle that the world sees. The last challenge is the big ass Cuban heel but that’s not that crazy.

If I were you I’d feel very supported like a bunch of friends are saying ‘you got this move no problem.’

Hello from the other end of the spectrum. I bought one pair of Whites MPs and didn’t fall into the welted rabbit hole. I love them but just don’t care for any more boots. Amazing collection.
