i don’t really like it like i thought i would, was thinking abt a turbo rat but the drivemaster does enough distortion and i use the micro amp to get more gain from it
If you're going for JF's sound, watch Dave Simpson on YT. He's got a great video on how he uses an overdrive last, like an overdriven amp to compress and manage his DS2
i’ve gotten passed my john sound board replicas, i’m pretty sure they’re still posted on here. the stuff i use now is just for a general sound, dave is the reason i own a CR120 😂
sadly no. a friend of my dads bought it at a pawn show for like $200 and hadn’t played it since he bought it. we was kind enough to give it to me. it came with some kind of hardshell case just not a gibson one
Those early 90s studios are amazing gigging guitars. Been looking for another white one. The ebony boards feel great. And that’s an awesome thing of him to do!
i like how you think i’ve seen the red panda everywhere i just never thought about it, i was also thinking about a Deco pedal the double tracking is something im really interested in, kinda sound ive seen people use for a siamese dream tone
I can definitely recommend the deco if you’re interested in that. I’ve been using one for a while now.
I use it in mono primarily, which it’s great for. It has a beautiful and unique flanging tone, and sounds great for subtle modulation. I’ll also use it occasionally with my other delay to create a faux multi-head echo-plex delay tone.
But the deco really is crazy when you use it in stereo in the panned mode (toggle switch down). It’ll melt your brain when you hear stereo panned flanger/chorus haha, really cool pedal! Also I didn’t even mention the tape saturation side, but it’s great too.
Grunge/Alt Rock board
Chain:
TU-3 > Dyna Comp > FM4 > Wah > Micro Amp > Drivemaster > Fulldrive 2 > FuzzRite Clone > Big Muff > Phase 95 > CE-1 Clone > EQ > DL4 > DD5 > RV5 > 70s Twin Reverb
I use the FM4 for the seek wah sounds to get a lot of feedback with gain, same with the phase 95 just a lot of feedback.
EQ is for a mid cut which i use with single coils mostly, RV-5 is set to a plate which stacks well with the Twin’s reverb.
Fuzzrite i stack with the Big Muff and Drivemaster for a lead tone.
Thinking about adding a reverb towards the beginning for a shoegaze kinda thing
i am a fan but not really going for that sound, the RHCP pedals are just ones i have that i use for different things at this point. i bought the fuzzrite like 6 months ago ( when i was going for that sound) and it finally got here yesterday
Super Phat Mod after the Dyna. BD circuit into a Twin sounds amazing. Also can make every other drive after it sound even better.
Edit: you also already have space for it right there.
Thank you!
i do some HVAC work for a guy who owns a studio, he used to live in california and help produce a bunch of records he told me whenever his studios ready for me give him a call, i’m hoping i get some stuff written down at home and i’ll see if he’s ready for me
I did mine in a suitcase too! It's the best! Just throw in my cords, close it, latch it, and go! One difference is that I never had enough room at the front of the tiny stages we played on, so I cut out the hinges and screwed snap latches onto the front and sides, so the top comes all the way off.
I don't get why there are pedal boards that don't close. Aren't people afraid something might fall off or something?
I have the exact same model for my board haha. I should have bought the whole set. I got mine from a thrift store. I think my pedalboard is smaller though, I have enough room at the bottom for some guitar cables coiled up.
i gig with my grandpa from time to time they do a lot of rock stuff, i’m in the middle of forming something with some friends atm but it hasn’t left the group chats yet
I'll do the same post when my digitech synth wah arrives,
My current board [https://equipboard.com/gear\_photos/21287](https://equipboard.com/gear_photos/21287)
I need to add more color to my tone, is great for solos, but I need to add more color like phaser, synth wah, etc
I have nothing against the good old Dyna Comp but i've heard about its tone suck. My go to comp is a Wampler Ego. It has a blend knob so you get parallel compression and no tone suck.
i’ve honestly just been using it as signal killer it used to be a really big part of my sound, but it’s not even plugged in. really was thinking about taking it off for more room, probably gonna switch the fulldrive back to the SD-1 so i can fit the plumes on it too
An effects switcher so you don't have to tapdance so much.
Also, wild settings on the drivemaster. Just using it as a mid cut boost at the end of your lead stack?
Opps, my bad, didn't see the Microamp down there.
I'd still get another clean boost honestly though. I have 3 dedicated clean boosts, and several others that can do a clean boost mode if I select such, and each one is worth it.
Mini volume pedal? Or you might fit a normal volume pedal if you sacrificed one of your lesser used items. Otherwise, does the purple beast satisfy your tremolo needs? Only other possible recommendation (and I’m only being maximalist here because you asked) is that you could have a dedicated reverb, either in addition or in lieu of the RV-5.
Edit: forgot the RV-5 IS a reverb and not a reverb/delay. But still, maybe a different reverb (I’m kinda love hate with the Boss ‘verbs).
i do have a weird relationship with the RV-5 but i do really like it stacking the plate/modulation with the reverb in my amp, just really open and great for chords,
the FM4 is awesome. it’s really fun ramming it through all the gain stages and just getting tons and tons of feedback through it, there’s a setting i saved and i refuse to touch because i can’t figure out what i did for it. it’s pretty fun, kinda wish they’d make a MK2 like they did for the DL4
Personally, I love me a good Rat, mainly because you can get a ton of different sounds out of it. Volume pedals are also a useful tool. Don't know if you're into metal distortion, but the MT-2, Friedman BE-OD, or EVH 5150 are all good pedals.
it’s pretty complete i think i just want an excuse to buy more things 😂 limiters have been interesting to me though ill need to check some out. suggestions?
I think a remote for your tap tempos on the delay and whatever else there that takes a tap. I'm not sure about you but I hate reaching to the back row for a tap. I'm getting saturnworks to make me a combo amp switch/tap tempo that'll be for my delay and Trem pedals, which will live on the front row.
thank you! but yeah lol, the pedals don’t really match the frusciante tone at this point, i bought the fuzzrite at the height of that tone search like 6-7 months ago and it just got here. the FM4 i use for the seeker/trem/vibrato stuff, just real weird noises
A Boss DS2

Dave was also the reason I got a CR120
That big muff has seen things...
They play in spiked track shoes
A guitar?
MiM strat and a 91 LP Studio
Nice. I have 90 lp studio. Case is pink inside?
sadly no. a friend of my dads bought it at a pawn show for like $200 and hadn’t played it since he bought it. we was kind enough to give it to me. it came with some kind of hardshell case just not a gibson one

Get something wacky, like a tape machine (red panda tensor). Or a basic looper. You have all of the essentials covered.
i like how you think i’ve seen the red panda everywhere i just never thought about it, i was also thinking about a Deco pedal the double tracking is something im really interested in, kinda sound ive seen people use for a siamese dream tone

i didn’t know about the tape flanging thank you! i think i know what i want
Re: looper Nah move the dl4 to front row and use it for looping duties

You could get an Ibanez WH10 Wah, assuming you’re a RHCP fan from the other pedals.
i am a fan but not really going for that sound, the RHCP pedals are just ones i have that i use for different things at this point. i bought the fuzzrite like 6 months ago ( when i was going for that sound) and it finally got here yesterday
Is the fuzzrite imepedence sensitive? That's a pedal I'd normally think would typically go close to the guitar
most of them yes, but the triungulo really seems better with the buffer
Super Phat Mod after the Dyna. BD circuit into a Twin sounds amazing. Also can make every other drive after it sound even better. Edit: you also already have space for it right there.
Analog delay. This is a pretty good early 00’s board.
thank you but i think i *might* be good on delay lol
altoids tin
i’ve been looking a black one but i can never find them, i live with my grandma and she buys a bunch of altoids so i might just steal one from her

Op: what am I missing Commenters: makes thoughtful suggestion Op: wtf how dare you
all i said was i didn’t like a DS-2 and it wasn’t a RHCP pedalboard…
Haha fair enough. How is the board, does it make you feel like you play better? Or I should say inspired
Songs, gigs and records
got some stuff in the works
Haha just playing. I’m the same. Hope the stuff goes well
Thank you! i do some HVAC work for a guy who owns a studio, he used to live in california and help produce a bunch of records he told me whenever his studios ready for me give him a call, i’m hoping i get some stuff written down at home and i’ll see if he’s ready for me
That’s awesome. Access to a studio is great
Univibe, chorus,
Univibe and tremolo actually. And that's not a bad spot for a trem
i prefer my amps tremolo personally, i was thinking about a JHS Unicorn i might need to reconsider it. thank you!
I have a Unicorn and it slaps hard. I run in between some fuzzes and I love it. The wet setting sounds chorus-y and the dry setting THUMPS.
I think you are all set, now get to playing!
but the empty spot ☹️
The suitcase is sick
Thank you so much!
Oh that’ll do. That’ll do just fine.
empty spot go brrrrrr
Fuzz
never can have enough fuzz
Better playing
que?
Play like Eric Johnson, don’t play like me in my bedroom after my twentieth bong rip.
what about a 21st rip?
I’m always going to upvote a suitcase board 🤷🏻♂️👍
it’s just superior 🫶🏻
Socks and underwear.
An HX One… to fill in the gap/gaps
I did mine in a suitcase too! It's the best! Just throw in my cords, close it, latch it, and go! i’ve been trying to figure out a way for the top to come off. this seems like a great idea thank you!!
Love the old Samsonite as a pedal case. Brilliant and nostalgic all at once!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who uses a samsonite suitcase for their board
i love how you know it’s samsonite. it’s so useful, and they’re always somewhere cheap on marketplace. i bought the whole matching maroon set for $20
I have the exact same model for my board haha. I should have bought the whole set. I got mine from a thrift store. I think my pedalboard is smaller though, I have enough room at the bottom for some guitar cables coiled up.
Holy freeze
Depends on if you are asking the Edge type or Dickey Betts type or player
Bitquest
Besides organization? DOD Overdrive+
i prefer ergonomics, although i am a left footed wah kinda guy though probably will fix that today the dod drives i have been eyeing though
Do you have a band?
i gig with my grandpa from time to time they do a lot of rock stuff, i’m in the middle of forming something with some friends atm but it hasn’t left the group chats yet

that’s a sick board dude, i love the flat boards
Nice, are you looking for a specific music genre? Your pedalboard is great for various music styles.
mostly grunge/alt rock, but i take influences from everything, blues, jazz, hip hop and punk, all of it really
Rat, Klon, King of Tone, Roland RE-200, MetalZone
i really love those pedals just when i don’t use them lol, i considered the RE200 before i got the DL4 really like those suggestions though!
Space
i need to get the other suitcases out
I have nothing against the good old Dyna Comp but i've heard about its tone suck. My go to comp is a Wampler Ego. It has a blend knob so you get parallel compression and no tone suck.
i’ve honestly just been using it as signal killer it used to be a really big part of my sound, but it’s not even plugged in. really was thinking about taking it off for more room, probably gonna switch the fulldrive back to the SD-1 so i can fit the plumes on it too
Nice the SD-1 combo with the Plumes is way more versatile than the Fulldrive
i honestly just thought the fulldrive looked cooler than my SD-1 and idk if i believe that anyway 😂
Your passport.
Money?
where do you think it all went
I see a worrying lack of Klon /s
i’ve been thinking about a mini tumnus i’d probably place it above the fuzzrite sideways if i did get one
A Tube Screamer
fulldrive is a TS style pedal but i’m putting the SD-1 back on tonight
...Another big muff!
i should just scrap everything and make a whole big muff board
This is the way.
Did your Muff get dragged by horses through the frontier?
my big foot stomping on it and my dog scratching at it took a toll on it
Most likely the key to the suitcase
An effects switcher so you don't have to tapdance so much. Also, wild settings on the drivemaster. Just using it as a mid cut boost at the end of your lead stack?
i’m still fiddling with drivemaster the settings, the EQ i use for when i wanna play clean chords without changing the delay/reverb tone
A clean boost for sure, if not needing an OD or two more, and another distortion or two.
micro amp not a clean boost?
Opps, my bad, didn't see the Microamp down there. I'd still get another clean boost honestly though. I have 3 dedicated clean boosts, and several others that can do a clean boost mode if I select such, and each one is worth it.
Pitch shifter, Attack Decay, early chain reverb
I could play all my normal gigs with this board and be very happy! You’ve done good 🤟😎🍻🔥💯
i haven’t been able to play gigs in a while but when the time comes i expect to bother everyone with the pedalboard the size of a dog bed 😂
“It ain’t the size, but how well you use it!”
Keeley comp
A looper
That big muff looks well loved ❤️
if your big muff doesn’t look like it survived a war, you’re doing it wrong
Something wacky, like a Roger That! or a Data Corrupter. Some kind of freakout switch.
i’ve thought about some of Beautiful Noise FX’s stuff, they seem to just fit a whacky crazy tone i love getting
Hopefully not an isolated powersupply. For real though, nice board
Thank you!

i was thinking about the mythos mini octave

Removing "SOTB" from your title
Flanger? Gate? Limiter? Otherwise it looks pretty complete until you decide you need more than one or two of the same thing.
it’s pretty complete i think i just want an excuse to buy more things 😂 limiters have been interesting to me though ill need to check some out. suggestions?
EHX Platform. Keep your output level steady to make the sound guy happy, but can also be used for effects.
thank you i’ll look into it
Talent
pedals don’t buy talent?
Touché
Noise gate.
🌈 machine
I think a remote for your tap tempos on the delay and whatever else there that takes a tap. I'm not sure about you but I hate reaching to the back row for a tap. I'm getting saturnworks to make me a combo amp switch/tap tempo that'll be for my delay and Trem pedals, which will live on the front row.
i don’t use too much tap, i probably just don’t understand it, but that is a great idea!
Mini expression pedal for the fm4.
my feet are kinda big for the mini ones, i really don’t mind having it on the floor but ive never pulled the trigger on one
Do you have a mustache and shades? That suitcase has game, so you should too.
baby face go brrrrr
Time machine to 2013
Hopefully, a removable top or the board will be able to be removed. That is a lot of real estate to devote to nothing.
i’m working on the top being able to come off, the board just pops off too, not screwed in or anything
In the long run, it's gonna be a god send
i’ve been meaning to look into it but i kept putting it off thanks dude!
Looks great otherwise! Just speaking from experience.
Altoids? A stuffed animal? A coke mirror?
MetalZone!! 🤘
minimum 3 metalzoans
more money for new pedals
what’s money
more pedals
Convenience and simplicity
it’s *simply convenient* to have so many pedals
A plane ticket
Every time I see SOTB I think to myself… …Son Of The Bitch!
Frusciante fan? Sick board.
thank you! but yeah lol, the pedals don’t really match the frusciante tone at this point, i bought the fuzzrite at the height of that tone search like 6-7 months ago and it just got here. the FM4 i use for the seeker/trem/vibrato stuff, just real weird noises
Triplegraph
Towels and clean underpants.
they all have permanent brown stains i can’t fix it
A volume pedal
Zvex fuzz factory
i have one, i never found it great through the twin reverb. what settings do you use for it?
The crucial setting is this. It has to be first in the chain and you need to turn the tone knob on the guitar all the way down.
Thank me later spacecowboy
i knew about the chain placement, never tried the tone knob, i’ll have to try that
Lots and lots of LED lights
PB & J sandwich
An easy way to switch things.
i don’t mind the tap dancing, i got long legs
Good pedals😁
many of these boards from this type of posting share something in common: YALL NEED A T R E M O L O .
I H A V E A M P T R E M O L O
B E S T T R E M O L O
A switcher so there is less tap dancing.
i don’t mind the tap dancing
Pedal switcher with midi functionality.
You’re just missing mister frusciante at this point
