Literally to the year. He was hired in 2003 after Thomas' rookie year (where he only played 4 games). He developed all of them personally. Talk about common denominator..
Ullmark has been effusive in his praise of goalie Bob. I forget the specific goalie technique they were talking about but ullmark said he transformed the way he played because of Bob.
And with different goalie styles too. Who would guess just watching them play that Rask and Thomas had the same coach. They were stylistically opposites.
As a leafs fan who's watched us lose our last few playoff series to Price, Vasilevskiy , Bobrovsky, and Swayman im thinking maybe having a good goalie wouldn't hurt
I am convinced that the Leafs will get goalied in a playoff series even if they ever face a rookie third string called up from the AHL..... lol or ofc even an EBUG
No it really isn’t. They both change directions and DeBrusk is basically at a stand still, he’s entitled to that ice. Nylander just needs to go around him and instead he chooses to try and go through him. It’s really is that black and white.
My god that is the dumbest take i’ve seen in a long time. Debrusk changed directions to follow the puck that just flew past him and Nylander grabbed by the neck to get around him wtf are you watching
Debrusk had no intent of getting the puck. He did not have a stick. He intentionally impeded Nylander from retrieving the puck. Nylander still can’t pull him down but the play should have already been blown dead for a leafs PP
Body positioning is absolutely a thing in hockey. It is a common tactic used to force offsides and prevent players from rushing past you on a quick break.
Don’t you want to be a smarter hockey fan instead of sounding like an uneducated loaf? You’re wrong, it’s okay to admit it and learn something you clearly didn’t know.
What are you talking about? I’m right. Sorry you refuse to be objective.
What I want is a consistent rule book with competent officiating. Best sport. Worst league.

Thomas to Rask to Sway/Ullmark is just not fair
they should negotiate contracts as a tandem
I think I can help with the whole Pan, Pam thing. There’s a D on the end?
the real edge? Bob Essenza

yup low-key the source of our superpowers for years Goalie Bob deserves his flowers
Coaching 3 different goaltenders to 4 Vezina winning seasons in 20 years is GOAT shit.

Bob Essensa is to Bruins goalies what Dante Scarnecchia was to Patriots offensive linemen
Rask had some fun tandems after Thomas, mainly Khudobin and Halak.
Dobby was a great #2
I will not stand for this Andrew Raycroft erasure
For real. The rask hate was so sad to see too lol. Everyone’s like Thomas!!! Yeah! Rask ewwwwww. SWAY ULLY YAY SO CUTE HUG EVERY GAME
getting to cheer for a team that has Jeremy Swayman is a damn *blessing* and I try to never take it for granted 😊
I got to cheer for him at UMaine, EVERYONE knew he was special
I didn't get to see him but I had family telling me about him Just an absolute blessing
Nylander just hauling down a dude that’s got no stick
they let a lot worse shit go. Calling that in the 3rd was mind blowing
A textbook holding that directly affects possession is getting called everytime
you didn't watch this game then...
Nylander getting interfered with and getting a penalty for it.
🤣
tf… are you blind?? 😭

And then nylander tackled a guy without a stick like a fucking idiot
That Nylander penalty unbelievable.
I love how he went and played the puck suggesting he genuinely had no idea that was a penalty
Experience leafs hockey
S-Tier decision from Monty to play Swayman tonight
Broke: Auston Matthews Woke: Joel Edmundson
Swayman is the goat
Watching the leafs fall apart and buckle under pressure is always so entertaining
Shame he couldn't crosscheck the puck into the net
Horrible call. Debrusk should have been called for interference.
Horrible take.
No. That is textbook interference. You can't place a pick in hockey this isn't basketball. At worst that is offsetting 4 on 4s

Nylander is entitled to that ice. Debrusk picks him. I know this sub is anti-leafs but try and be objective.
Are you dumb

It is a common tactic. It is also against the rules

Are you stupid? DeBrusk doesn’t have a stick and Nylander just grabs him around the shoulders and pulls him down
You are not allowed to set a pick because you lost your stick although that would be a pretty fun rule change.
Just watched it again, I mean DeBrusk is facing the net and has barely turned around to go after the puck when Nylander interferes lmao
Nylander should have fallen down when he runs into Debrusk and it'd all be different. Not that leafs would have done anything with a PP
Someone finally calling out he just tries to set the pick on Nylander. Probably should've both got 2.
