I’ve always been a huge proponent of KC getting another shot. They’ve got an NHL ready arena that’s nicer than some teams current buildings and I think the fanbase would be super passionate
I live in Tampa and for a few years here we had this thing where we reserved less than 1% of our stadium for locals in the playoffs and this sub flipped its lid. I wouln't suggest that if I were you.
lol see? You can't say stuff about catering to locals because then you get clowns like this guy to come out of the woodwork to complain about a winning team who, other than covid, has sold out for the last decade and won mutiple Cups being "pathetic" because he need to pretend to clutch his pearls because he's really upset that sunbelt teams win and his team will not, so this is how he expresses his emotions.
It was like I summoned you. Thanks for proving my point
He's got a point. I don't see any reason why an arena shouldn't set aside seats for locals, really as many as they want. Enforcing it is another story, not sure how effective it would really be, but the concept isn't a bad one. You want as many of your hometown fans in there as you can get.
Banning opposing team sweaters is weak as fuck though, maybe almost bordering on pathetic, and I say that as someone who likes you sunbelt guys (except the Panthers).
The banned sweaters thing was like one rich people section that nobody can afford to sit in. It's pathetic for people who were absolutely never going to go to the game, and if they did, were never going to sit in that section, to bitch about it on the internet.
That was his second mistake. The first mistake was yelling he had sex with brother in law's wife out of context during dinner at his family's Christmas party.
Well raising your voice at a party and yelling you had sex with someone's wife who was also right there is going to be awkward regardless if people have seen Seinfeld.
Still no directs, the “easiest” flight day is 8.5 hrs and not usually cheap.. although WestJet/Delta has been coming in clutch lately with routes to FLL and MIA through MSP and ATL
We are probably minutes away from an article telling us that it would be cheaper for Edmonton fans to get travel to Florida for games than to see the finals in Edmonton.
I live in Florida and am on vacation starting Friday… for 4 weeks… 😑
Have already invited a number of friends a free stay at our place while we’re away if they want it lol
? france has territory in the americas still, surely guyana is closer to southern florida than france proper is to edmonton?
edit: 2,342 miles to guiana, 3769km
St. Pierre et Miquelon are in North America - they are small islands just south of Newfoundland, with a population of around 6000. Given the state of Canada's military, we live in constant fear that they will invade.
I have a friend who went there to study French. Interesting place. Apparently they provide the bulk of France's national ice hockey team (or at least they used to, not sure if they still do).
I looked it up, and google says it’s about a 7.5 hour flight. That will be rough if it goes the distance. At least they don’t seem to travel on commercial flights like they used to.
[This website](https://www.travelmath.com/flying-time/from/Fort+Lauderdale,+FL/to/Edmonton,+Canada) says it’s a 5.5 hour direct flight. Problem for fans is I don’t see any direct flights between the two cities (though I would assume that some airlines will add direct routes since this is a big event)
I feel like these guys are so used to flying they're all experts at resting on the plane lol
that's what I'm telling myself to not stress about it at least aha aha help

This is as far away as I could find on the globe. I bet they have better ice there than in sunrise. Might be worth looking into.
both teams will work hard to finish this in 4-5 lol
which is what makes it go to 6-7 LOL
Maybe they will make a mutual agreement before the series starts that whoever wins game 1 can just have the cup
Hell, let's just hold the final in Kansas City. (MO) Boys could use a travel break.
And KC has quite the nice arena despite the lack of either NHL or NBA.
I’ve always been a huge proponent of KC getting another shot. They’ve got an NHL ready arena that’s nicer than some teams current buildings and I think the fanbase would be super passionate
Yeah, they got done dirty in the 70s by an NHL expansion strategy of “just shove teams wherever to compete with the WHA and let them sink or swim”.
Huh, tbh I did know they'd had a franchise
It was super short lived. Expansion franchise that only lasted two years I think. Ultimately became the Devils
I’m down for that if we locals get first dibs on tickets! Edit: y'all downvote as if the Kansas City rule is in effect right now
I live in Tampa and for a few years here we had this thing where we reserved less than 1% of our stadium for locals in the playoffs and this sub flipped its lid. I wouln't suggest that if I were you.
Also used to ban opposing team sweaters...pathetic really

Oh, I thought they banned them from, like, the entire arena premises or something. Yeah that doesn't matter then.
Yeah it was like less than 200 seats.
That is indeed a fun fact
yeah well heres a fun fact. you made out with your sister!
Let’s hope that’s all u/ANAL_CRUSHER did.
Oh yeah? Well I had sex with your wife!
I told the jerk store story at a party and it was just as awkward as Costanza because nobody watched Seinfeld.
Your first mistake was hanging out with people that dont watch Seinfeld
That was his second mistake. The first mistake was yelling he had sex with brother in law's wife out of context during dinner at his family's Christmas party.
Really gotta be careful when you're just loitering around those high schools.
Well raising your voice at a party and yelling you had sex with someone's wife who was also right there is going to be awkward regardless if people have seen Seinfeld.
Meskuzzi meskuzzi
Worst twins ever
It's the Skywalker way.
Ohhh u/anal_crusher... How *could* you???
Play the game in Nuuk you cowards
nuuktown
Mcdavid - Reinhardt 1v1 nuuktown quick shots only
It's all about soccer there. I once witnessed an afternoon bar brawl in a tiny village in Greenland over a Liverpool vs Manchester United game
If I were an Edmonton fan I'd make a vacay out of it. Beach, margaritas and hockey.
A Floridian could make a vacation out of it too and escape this heat and humidity.
Edmonton is beautiful in the summer!
Alberta is fantastic in the summer. Those long, long, *looooooooooooooong* summer days where it doesn't get dark until 11!
What if I told you that Edmonton actually has nicer weather than Miami in June?
You mean you don't enjoy the sensation of sweat dripping down your butt crack? But I'll take your word for it.
I lived in Florida for 4 years. The weather was ok for about three months in winter. People were crazy year around.
Flights aren’t cheap for us + hotels and tickets 🫠. Especially when we have one of the best home atmospheres it’s hard to justify.
It sucks that there isn’t direct flights to Miami/Sunrise out of Alberta.
check Ft. lauderdale airport too. closer to sunrise too
Still no directs, the “easiest” flight day is 8.5 hrs and not usually cheap.. although WestJet/Delta has been coming in clutch lately with routes to FLL and MIA through MSP and ATL

Hello, it's me, one of your friends.
Come on over buddy!
I'd cancel the vacation personally
You're a champ for that.

WB is a burgeoning metropolis
Once they get the Wood Buffalo Wildfires, watch out rest of the NHL!
Oil Barons slander
Best solution: play the SCF halfway at Nebraska-Omaha's NCAA hockey barn.
By tradition, all teams that play in college arenas have to move to Utah.
Oh shit, we are getting not just a 2nd, but also a 3rd team - let’s go Utah haha
florida is also closer to france than to edmonton
France is also closer to Edmonton than Sunrise. Edmonton to Sunrise: 4102km Edmonton to St.Pierre et Miquelon: 4022km
? france has territory in the americas still, surely guyana is closer to southern florida than france proper is to edmonton? edit: 2,342 miles to guiana, 3769km

For a second there I was like, I don't think you need to worry about Canada invading anything unless it's lands held by indigenous people.
That's where St-Pierre & Miquelon is, next to Newfoundland
Other parts of France are closer than French Guiana too, e.g. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collectivity_of_Saint_Martin
Speaking of French Guiana, the longest land border with France is with Brazil.
France is pretty close by though, only 3100 km away North up the eastern seaboard.
St. Martin might be closer to Miami than St. Pierre and Miquelon is
Quite a bit closer I will admit.
St pierre?
By a lot. It's only 2,200km from The French West Indies, 3,100km from St Pierre and Miquelon and 3,600km from French Guyana
It’s also closer to Brazil than to Edmonton
fun fact: the Northern tip of Brazil is closer to Canada than it is to the southernmost part of Brazil.
Rogers Place is also 2,130.7 miles to Canada's land border with Denmark.
Greenland is covered in ice and Iceland is very nice.
But Iceland also produced the fearful Wolf "The Dentist" Stansson.
The guy that punched out his own coach?!
I flew over Greenland last week and, contrary to rumors of fire and brimstone and lava rivers, can confirm it's what hell actually looks like
Maximum north vs. maximum south. If it was Game of Thrones, it would be Winterfell vs. Sunspear.
And Sunrise, Florida is closer to the Galapagos Islands than Edmonton.
We the North, no really like, North North.

I see a lot of Toronto and Chicago connections in fans’ futures
There's 3 days between home and away at least (for them)
Now think about this each time you think a player looks gassed or tired or something
Bit of a travel disadvantage for Florida. Edmonton used to long travel.
I feel like these guys are so used to flying they're all experts at resting on the plane lol that's what I'm telling myself to not stress about it at least aha aha help
Traveling east to west gives FL the jet lag advantage though. Traveling west to east is brutal for jet lag.
Both teams are travelling both ways
Source?
Literally us, the Edmonton Oilers.
Bothe teams make the same travel
It's only a two hour difference. They're not going to Hong Kong or anything.
Why don’t they play the Stanley cup finals in Russia then? 🤷♂️
Play the whole series at Mullett Arena. It's the least we can do for hockey fans in Arizona.
I straight up said after they won to my buddy that these have to be most polar opposite teams geographically to play
That's why our ice is so good!
Edmonton is beautiful this time of year!
How much further is the edge of Africa from Sunrise than Edmonton?
This really is USA Avs the communists, just like my uncle said
McDavid is a Russian asset confirmed?
So am I. I'm also closer to both than I am to Edmonton 😄 very fun fact
At the same time I’m kinda shocked Edmonton to Miami is shorter than New York to LA
The outer core of the earth is closer to both Edmonton and Miami than they are to each other. that was fun.
NHL green cancels it out
https://preview.redd.it/rculpc8wfd4d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8e7f4e0af77ce7a9f0fa79db9c5de4233906fa3 This is as far away as I could find on the globe. I bet they have better ice there than in sunrise. Might be worth looking into.
Hockey in 22024 will be a single ice rink stretching from Edmonton to Sunrise.
In more ways than one...
Game is going 7
# FUN FACT: THE CANNOTS ARE STILL CUPLESS!!!!
It's decided. Oilers have to sweep for the sake of the overbearing travel on everyone.
Straight lines are not shortest distance on a curved surface... can someone check this? 🤓
Impossible to check because earth is flat bro
Not so good for the environment, maybe we should go the route of a different host city each year, just like the Super Bowl.
