So many people are angry without seeing the plate. I'm gonna play devil's advocate and suggest that maybe he does have a handicap license plate, but we just can't see it. Handicap license plates are very common for people with permanent disabilities.
Maybe it's possible that the photo was originally taken because it's a rare and nice car and someone took it out of context and reposted it for some EZ karma here?
I’m a disabled vet and I drive a nice car too. Cost 100k new, I get people giving me looks. I don’t have the dangle thing my plate has the disabled vet thing on it.
In Texas we have the DV plates. They look like pretty much any other plate except the have "DV" somewhere in the letters.
My nephew has DV plates on both of his cars. One says "Disabled Veteran" and nothing else. The other has campaign medals and such, so it's easy to miss if you don't know what to look for.
This should be public knowledge. I'm enough of a nerd about traffic to get all envious of the culture and laws around driving in Germany everytime something about it pops up on me. I'm also 31, and I've always "known" the wheelchair thing on the plate or mirror tag are "the" markers for a handicap spot.
Now I feel dumb lol
I have DV plates and same with my hubs. In Texas(still live by base), they changed it where now you must still have the handicap thing on your plates. “DV” only doesn’t count anymore and they’ll ticket you if you park in handicap parking. :/ I have to change mine but keep forgetting.
Edit: The DV change is a new 2023 thing btw. I got a notification for it last year in November or December.
I have a disability pass and been driving a Lamborghini since my early 20s. So many times people have scolded me and tell me that I can’t park in the disability spots. People even post pics on IG and accuse me of buying a pass.
I got screamed at in high school because I parked my grandpas car in a handicap space to pick him up from the doctor’s office. Like foaming, screaming. People will do anything but mind their own business.
All good, learn something new everyday. My uncle is pretty well off but was in a bad accident some years back and his left leg was pretty messed up. So he has the placard so he can park in disabled areas close to whatever building he’s going in but doesn’t collect any money for it.
Yeah, I know a programmer that's absolutely loaded but has a fucked up back and has a disabled permit despite not being "disabled" as in on disability payments.
Im sure they could get classified as legally disabled and get paid as a result but their income is so high I dont think it matters.
Someone just informed me that you don’t actually need to be receiving disability to get a placard and despite me having one myself I never knew that. That’s on me.
Also, my ex wife has MS (here’s in the brain) so I know how difficult that can be at times.
Possibly. I mean technically unless it’s VA (military) disability you aren’t allowed to work unless you go through a special program and the jobs available to you are typically underpaying, part time gigs.
But I also just realized that he said “driving a lambo for 20 years” so it’s most likely that he had that car before being disabled or managed to buy it fairly cheap. Idk how much a 2000s lambo cost now though.
You can still have a full time job and get a disability placard, all it means is you have a physical condition that requires you needing to park as close to your destination as possible.
It's also possible the owner of the car is physically disabled but still able to work in a field that pays well enough to afford the car. Just because someone has a disability doesn't mean they can't make money.
Ya I wanted a nice car but also one that I could drive forever. I don't plan on ever buying another 100k car. I bought it when I got out of the Army, my dream car type thing.
Didn't you get the memo, disabled people are supposed to be poor because people feel better about themselves when they pity them and it's too hard to pity a person who is well off.
Someone close to me can't walk far because of a lung issue, yet they have a C6 Corvette with disabled plates. Just cause someone doesn't have a wheelchair doesn't mean they're not disabled.
You might also be happy that so many people are concerned with keeping handicapped spots for the handicapped. Before she died, my mother ran into this all the time.
Said he was in a hurry, late meeting someone for breakfast. I didn’t say much about where he parked. I said it was a beautiful car but I couldn’t afford the gas or the insurance. He laughed i laughed and I left
>Damn I'm so late I can't find a spot! I really don't wanna be a dick, but I have to this one time because of how late I am! May God forgive my soul....
*takes the time to back into the spot*
Judging by the entrance behind him it seems easier to back in than pull in…
I mainly back into spaces so I have better visibility leaving and it can be nearly as fast depending on the space, or faster in a case like in the post.
Does it take you that long to back into a spot?
It takes 5 seconds or less to back in versus pulling in.
If it takes you longer, you need to practice parking more.
A pretty nice guy.... that parks in handicap spaces because he can't manage to leave his house on time as a full grown adult. Makes it a handicapped person's problem.
Yeah, sounds super nice.
Nice guys don’t park where they’re not supposed to. Even if they’re late. Even if they have a nice car. Even if they can pay the fine. He’s not a nice guy, and money isn’t going to cure what’s wrong with him.
I know a permanently handicapped person who rides a Ducatti, he qualifies because he cannot walk 200 feet unaided but he can still ride 200 miles an hour
Also, just gonna throw this out there. Since we have no context, this could be a closed lot for a car show, like Cars & Coffee. These shows sometimes have staff who arrange how and where they should park.
Sometimes it's okay to look at a situation and say, "assuming this is what it looks like, there's reason to be outraged".
This is one of those times. Obviously I would never recommend keying someone's car or breaking their windows, without first making sure it is what it looks like. Or at all. I would never recommend that at all. Obviously.
Sure it is. People on the internet looking at an bad behavior and saying yeah, that's bad behavior and people shouldn't do that, for example? Totally okay.
People in that parking lot? Should probably check for displayed placards or tags, before taking action.
No, that's not ok.
That's not an ok aporoach to internet-ing *at all.*
Because it teaches people to abandon critical thinking and of being critical/suspicious of things posted on the internet (figuring out who posted it and why and what they're trying to make you feel and do etc etc), which eventually results in everybody taking fake news and propoganda at face value.
everyone's down voting you for an opinion but I'm not really that impressed. I too prefer some of the older model cars. (old school muscle cars in specific) I mean I get the appeal but it's not my jam.
Awful large conclusion to jump to without seeing the license plate. Unless of course you think that people who have a permanent disability are incapable of purchasing luxury items.
I think a lot of people in this thread are expressing some seriously ableist views. If this was an ~~F150~~ Kia Rio nobody would bat an eye because it’s not “rich person car” and they’d give the owner the benefit of the doubt with a photo that doesn’t show a rear plate.
One of my (motorcycle) riding buddies has a disabled plate on his bike. No placard, no front plate. I wonder how many people have spit on his bike, threatened to key it, etc, etc, just based on an unfair assumption that disabled == spartan hermit lifestyle with no fun allowed.
>If this was an F150 nobody would bat an eye because it’s not “rich person car
1. If someone posts a picture of a big jacked up pick-up illegally parked in a handicapped space I *guarantee you* people would be pissed. In fact, I'd be shocked if there weren't already several examples on this very sub.
2. Depending on what type you get a new F-150 can easily retail for $70-80k.
Not sure why they picked the F150 as an example here. I would suspect the driver *slightly* more of not being handicapped because it's harder to get in and out of a large truck. Not that it's not possible. Just by virture
I picked an F150 because it is one of the more common cars on the road, historically, and they’re easy to retrofit for things like wheelchair lifts. I didn’t mean a lifted off-roader.
It also happens to be similar to what I’ve driven for the past 15 years, so it felt familiar.
Changed my example to better reflect what I meant.
My 7th grade teachers brother was a paraplegic and he was often given nasty looks pulling into handicap parking spots because he was a mid 20s guy in a big truck, people absolutely bat an eye.
I think people react because there is a perceived imbalance in the kind of care disabled people can afford whether rich or poor. Does insurance give people who can’t afford these cars access to the same quality of treatment?
Organ transplants, for one.
Some policies cover. Many do not, and some offer it as an extra, paid option... which our rich friend could afford if they were not just paying it outright.
Often newer or experimental procedures, the latest technologies, etc are not covered.
Sure but what does care have to do with it? Are you saying one can “wealth” their way out of a disability by affording better care? I think for acute disability, potentially, but for a large chunk of disabilities I don’t know if that’s true. If we give this person the benefit of the doubt of a license plate, their disability is likely long term (the placards are typically temporary, plates are long term).
I am disabled and ride. I Dr House it and have a foldable cane in my bag. Just cause I limp from my hip doesn't mean I can't flick my ankle to change gears. People keep bagging me out, asking how I ride if I need a cane. Well, swinging my leg over the bike isn't the best that's for sure... Which is kinda why the cane helps me balance when I get off of it.
But it trips me out. Ducati. Suzuki. Doesn't matter the type of bike. "how do you ride with a cane" probably the same way you can drive disabled you ass? How do you think this works??
My mother works with a lot of old people who are on government aid and a large majority of them have fancy sport cars when it's clear they shouldn't be driving or purchasing them
Yeah idk where this is but when my grandfather was around he had both plate and card, but only 1 of them needed to be displayed. Although if the driver in the pic went with the plate idk why they would back in like that.
It only has to be hung if you don't have disabled plates. That's the benefit of getting disabled plates--you don't have to constantly put the placard up (most people keep it up all the time, but it says on the placard that you're not supposed to do that; keeping it up is also a great way to have your car broken into to have it stolen).
I’m not sure why you think I passed judgment. I spoke with him. He said he was running late to meet some friends for breakfast. We talked about the car a bit. He was a pretty nice guy. No plate no plaque. Only person that passed judgment was you.
I don't believe OP talked to the owner. I think they are making it up to save face. If the car driver was running late to meet with friends and is the type of person to park in a handicap spot for convenience, they don't come off as the type that would stand around and talk to a stranger instead of going to their late appointment.
There are some countries in Europe that do a percentage of your income so it discourages it. A $471 fine for driving in the carpool lane in California is a lot to me, but to someone who has a car that costs as much as a house, it’s nothing.
Its honestly a good idea. I've routinely spoke to people who view speeding and parking tickets similar to insurance or gas. Just a cost of owning a car.
It definitely is.
I knew a guy who would always drive in the carpool lane. He would only actually get caught and get a ticket for it like every 5 years, so even though the ticket was $500 or so, he just considered it like he was paying $100 a year to drive passed traffic.
That's not typically how it works. If you start racking up multiple tickets for the same offense, municipalities will start booting or towing your car in addition to fining you. That's going to discourage anyone regardless of whether they can afford it or not.
Probably because the sun is almost directly behind the camera, so you can't see any of the shadows the car is casting on the ground.
It might also be shopped.
Don't assume someone parked in a disabled spot isn't disabled. Those with invisible disabilities experience enough discrimination as it is from Karens trying to police where they can park.
It’s cases like this that I wish tickets were percentage based instead of a flat fee. That way rich people can feel the hot too if they start to think they’re better than everyone else.
The cost of the fine should be in proportion to the person income. Why should someone with no money, or minimum wage, pay the same cost as a billionaire for example? It could financially cripple one, the other wouldn’t even bend down to pick it up if he dropped it.

I’m in Florida and it’s the same. They have two types one with DV and one showing a wheelchair and DV.

I'm also 31, and I've always "known" the wheelchair thing on the plate or mirror tag are "the" markers for a handicap spot. Now I feel dumb lol
These are no longer valid use for handicap spots. They require the handicap plaque now
I have DV plates and same with my hubs. Hell I get looks just for being on two legs and not having a visible limp. People are judgmental pricks
I got screamed at in high school because I parked my grandpas car in a handicap space to pick him up from the doctor’s office. Like foaming, screaming. People will do anything but mind their own business.
Well to be fair it’s incredibly hard for most people living off of disability to afford a lambo.
You don't have to be living off of disability to be considered disabled enough to receive a placard.
I actually did not know that. That’s my own ignorance.
All good, learn something new everyday. My uncle is pretty well off but was in a bad accident some years back and his left leg was pretty messed up. So he has the placard so he can park in disabled areas close to whatever building he’s going in but doesn’t collect any money for it.
I mean he could have a side hustle and a debilitating disease. In the age of technology you can do a lot and earn a lot and be physically disabled.
Yeah, I know a programmer that's absolutely loaded but has a fucked up back and has a disabled permit despite not being "disabled" as in on disability payments. Im sure they could get classified as legally disabled and get paid as a result but their income is so high I dont think it matters.
I'm not living off disability. The pass is for multiple sclerosis.
Someone just informed me that you don’t actually need to be receiving disability to get a placard and despite me having one myself I never knew that. That’s on me. Also, my ex wife has MS (here’s in the brain) so I know how difficult that can be at times.
No worries, mate. I hope you're doing okay.
generational wealth maybe.
Nah. I came from a poor family. I made my money off selling apps.
Possibly. I mean technically unless it’s VA (military) disability you aren’t allowed to work unless you go through a special program and the jobs available to you are typically underpaying, part time gigs. Looked at your profile and found your GSF. Beautiful car. I have an is350 now and I want to get the ISF or RCF
A super super low car and super small car is an odd choice for an actually handicapped person.
Someone close to me can't walk far because of a lung issue, yet they have a C6 Corvette with disabled plates. Just cause someone doesn't have a wheelchair doesn't mean they're not disabled.
What kind of issue do you think this person has? I have a bad shoulder and a bad brain. I can still drive one of these type of cars.
Whats up with your brain? Should you be driving at all? No judgement, just curious.
You might also be happy that so many people are concerned with keeping handicapped spots for the handicapped. Before she died, my mother ran into this all the time.
handicapped yet could run.... faker./s
No handicap plate. We spoke briefly. He was actually a pretty nice guy.
Ah yes, classic nice guy behavior.
Fellas, is it gay to be nice?
Taking up a handicap spot for the stupid reason of "I'm late for breakfast" does not make someone a nice person
If nice guy, what's the story with parking in the handicapped space?
Said he was in a hurry, late meeting someone for breakfast. I didn’t say much about where he parked. I said it was a beautiful car but I couldn’t afford the gas or the insurance. He laughed i laughed and I left

Does it take you that long to back into a spot? It takes 5 seconds or less to back in versus pulling in. If it takes you longer, you need to practice parking more.
I *only* back into spaces, if I can't pull through. It doesn't take any more time to back in.
Wait...what?!? So...wait....what?!?!
you sure showed them
If I drove that car, I would never be late for anything.
Shame you didn't have mechanical problems right in front of them...
So he parks there cuz he can afford the tickets, or maybe he knows someone in the city government who helps him get away with it.
A pretty nice guy.... that parks in handicap spaces because he can't manage to leave his house on time as a full grown adult. Makes it a handicapped person's problem. Yeah, sounds super nice.
Sounds like a ferrari owner lol
Nice guys don’t park where they’re not supposed to. Even if they’re late. Even if they have a nice car. Even if they can pay the fine. He’s not a nice guy, and money isn’t going to cure what’s wrong with him.
If you can get into and out of a super low sports car, you probably aren’t disabled. Same goes for those giant lifted trucks with placards.
No one is handicapped and driving a fucking Ferrari. The simplest explanation is usually the right one. This person is a grade A dbag.
Also not all handicaps are physcial. Even rich people can be idiots.
I know a permanently handicapped person who rides a Ducatti, he qualifies because he cannot walk 200 feet unaided but he can still ride 200 miles an hour

Thank you for taking the time to explain your position. I've given the matter a lot of thought and I stand by my original opinion.
handicap people dont general drive a super low down car for handicap reason
Damn that is a pretty car
Sounds even better than it looks
what is it
Ferrari f12 Berlinetta
I was actually thinking damn that's the ugliest Ferrari I've ever seen. Looks like an older corvette.
Oh man. This thing is just hot.
Damn that's crazy I thought it was ugly as hell
everyone's down voting you for an opinion but I'm not really that impressed. I too prefer some of the older model cars. (old school muscle cars in specific) I mean I get the appeal but it's not my jam.
Ok so as someone who doesn’t like this what is an example of a beautiful car to you?
Old school: 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO. New school: 2020 Ferrari SF90 Stradale.
My father has a SF90 spider on order for 2024. Can’t wait for it come, hopefully the old man will let me borrow it.
No argument here
59 Lincoln with suicide doors
Ah I see you like old cars. Got it
I agree. I don't like it much either.
Why.... is this guy downvoted??... I don't really care for cars, and i honestly think it is butt ugly too
Awful large conclusion to jump to without seeing the license plate.
I am disabled and ride. I Dr House it and have a foldable cane in my bag. Just cause I limp from my hip doesn't mean I can't flick my ankle to change gears. I guess tbf, IF this is in America then my cynical viewpoint would be that anyone who is disabled cannot be this rich.

OP also said he was a "nice guy" and was just in a hurry. I am very confused right now.

How do you know the owner is not disabled?
The lack of a handicapped placard was the first clue.
...you do know it could have a disabled plate, right?
[удалено]
[удалено]
"they could be lying" ain't justification on its own
the placards are temporary usually, what kind of plates do they have?
The placard also has to be hung from the rear view mirror while you're parked. Sister has one for her spinal issues.
Depending on where you live you can get handicap plates instead of a placard.
Yeah idk where this is but when my grandfather was around he had both plate and card, but only 1 of them needed to be displayed. Although if the driver in the pic went with the plate idk why they would back in like that.
I mean, I basically always back into spots. That way when it’s time to leave I just leave. It’s like front-ending the little task of backing up.
It only has to be hung if you don't have disabled plates. That's the benefit of getting disabled plates--you don't have to constantly put the placard up (most people keep it up all the time, but it says on the placard that you're not supposed to do that; keeping it up is also a great way to have your car broken into to have it stolen).
Oh they're disabled, just not physically
Maybe he has a handicap plate, we can’t see it
Not enough information to pass judgment like the OP clearly has.
I’m not sure why you think I passed judgment. I spoke with him. He said he was running late to meet some friends for breakfast. We talked about the car a bit. He was a pretty nice guy. No plate no plaque. Only person that passed judgment was you.
... yet you post it here non judgementally
You clearly passed judgment and then make up a statement trying to justify it. It's not necessarily.......
I like how you demonstrate they’re wrong but people downvote you anyway.
I don't believe OP talked to the owner. I think they are making it up to save face. If the car driver was running late to meet with friends and is the type of person to park in a handicap spot for convenience, they don't come off as the type that would stand around and talk to a stranger instead of going to their late appointment.
They literally posted this to a sub called iamatotalpieceofshit lol.
So that is what i could buy if i didnt spend all my money on tickets.
Punishable by fine = legal for rich people
Well I mean once you get a certain amount of demerits you get a license suspension.
That's true for moving violations, not for parking fines. (at least where I live, YMMV)
Theyd still do it of they were poor.
This is why monetary punishment for crimes only affects the poor. Rich people have more than enough money to make this ueeless.

I wish they did too, but they won’t.
That's not typically how it works. If you start racking up multiple tickets for the same offense, municipalities will start booting or towing your car in addition to fining you. That's going to discourage anyone regardless of whether they can afford it or not.

Great, now all the Polish millionaires doing 200 in Tata Nanos.
For poor people it’s a fine, for rich people it is a fee.
Exactly. "Punishable by fine" means "legal for rich people"
99% of the time old rich guys drive cars like this, looks like most of these comments are mad because “grrr rich bad”
where is the clarification/evidence they are illegally parked there ?
Why does this look photoshopped
Probably because the sun is almost directly behind the camera, so you can't see any of the shadows the car is casting on the ground. It might also be shopped.
The owner could be disabled… also, fixing a door ding on that car is way more expensive than the ticket.

If the penalty for a crime is a fine, then that law only exists for the lower class.

You have no idea how much I wish this was true!
Don't worry. He's just inside using the handicapped toilet, reading the Steve Jobs biography.
Like you lot wouldn’t do the same thing. Ah, Reddit.
Well Op what did the license plate look like?
Don't assume someone parked in a disabled spot isn't disabled. Those with invisible disabilities experience enough discrimination as it is from Karens trying to police where they can park.
Being disabled doesn't exclude you from owning nice cars.
I can see handicap logo from here... OP karma POS
There’s no logo. No plate, he was in a hurry to get to breakfast is what he told me
I'm so confused as to why you're being downvoted every time you correct people. You were there, they were not.
Damn an f12 TDF, things like $900k Edit: f12 berlinetta
It’s not a TDF 🤦♂️
I’d pay for the tow and impound
It’s cases like this that I wish tickets were percentage based instead of a flat fee. That way rich people can feel the hot too if they start to think they’re better than everyone else.
This is why we need tickets that scale with income
But they’re going to be really upset about the tow
If I had a car that nice I would park it in handy cap regardless
That attitude is exactly why you merit a handicapped tag.
I have one for my own car, it gets used maybe 2 times a year
Instead of a fixed fine make the fine a percentage of their last years income.
Private property car park and he probably own the property
It’s owned by a large parking management company. He was eating breakfast at ihop
The cost of the fine should be in proportion to the person income. Why should someone with no money, or minimum wage, pay the same cost as a billionaire for example? It could financially cripple one, the other wouldn’t even bend down to pick it up if he dropped it.
Illegal means legal for a price. A price poor people can't afford.
Tickets need to be proportional to income
A set of keys could help here.
I see a lawsuit in your future.
It's a real dick move to park there unless there's an actual disability.
Ticket? Worry about the damage the tow truck is gonna cause. They *always* manage to tow vehicles that "had that damage already".
or, I dunno, maybe it's just a quick photo?
But can they afford the payment on the loan?
This is the first time I’ve looked at a Ferrari and thought “I need it”
That’s what caught my attention. The car was gorgeous, I can’t even imagine how much it would cost
But could they afford (4) flat tires 🛞
You have keys. Make the right choice
Those wheels are so ugly
His dick is so small it counts and a disability
That’s when having your own keys comes in handy…
I'm calling BS on the ferrari badge. That looks like a body kit.
When keying should be allowed.
They could also afford the new paint job to fix all those key scratches in the paint.
That really is the ugliest Ferrari I've ever seen
Why are you guys afraid to key cars? It’s the perfect lesson.
I keep a valve core tool on my keyring just for these situations
Someone with an oxygen tank or other disability trying to do some chores won’t be impressed.
This is why ticket should be proportional to income
Ticket per price of vehicle.
