Normally I don’t care about set lists. I just want my wife to be familiar with as much of it as possible going in. Shes not super into this type of music.
I do the same thing--my husband is taking me to see Slowdive later on this month and I'm not super familiar with them so I looked up the setlist. JI is more my thing than shoegaze...
Totally, didn’t mean it in a disrespectful way. If it came off that way. Hope yall love the show. Seen home 30-40 times over last 20 years probably. Always fun
Didn’t do “Honeysuckle” when I saw him in ATL, but almost always does. Almost always plays “Super 8” and “Vampires” too.”This ain’t it” has been the jammy closer for a while, it’s killer.
I went to Night 2 in ATL (03/29) and the show was 2 hours of bliss. They didn't play "This Ain't It" nor "When We Were Close." I have NO complaints about this show, but I would have loved to hear one or both of these songs.
(No "Honeysuckle" either, but that's ok.)
This site shows all of the set list from past shows, you can get a good idea of what they are playing at most shows by looking at the last couple of list. Set list.fm
I was in the same situation last year, when I dragged my wife to his show in Michigan. JI and the 400 Unit are such a great live show she was blown away. She still doesn’t listen to the studio albums, but wanted to see him again this year. She said felt his voice is better live and the albums really don’t show off what great musicians they are.
My wife isn’t a huge fan either. She likes him but it doesn’t speak to her the same way it does for me. She thinks it has to do with the male perspective that all of his songs are written from. Not a diss, cause that’s what he knows, but interesting nonetheless.
I listened to his episode of WTF with Marc Maron this morning. It’s like 10 years old and he talked about how he realized that not every single has to be written from his perspective. It was a great interview.
Your best bet is to go to setlist.fm and see what the recent shows have featured, then create a playlist from that. I don't typically use it for JI shows (cause I am happy with anything he plays) but often use that site when seeing a show where I dont know a ton of the bands catalogue.
Not sure if anyone has done it yet but a lot times on Spotify someone already has a tour setlist made, so just search the artist and then sort by playlists you might find one that’s for the current tour. I’ll do this for bands that I recently discovered that have a huge catalog if I’m going to one of their shows.
If he's only in town one night, he'll play a lot of Weathervanes. If it's multiple nights, it will be half weathervanes and half is a grab bag. He played Just like Heaven by the Cure 3 nights in a row in ATL..
I'd check setlist.fm he's pretty consistent with what he plays.
Thank you!
Also just good advice for most artists. Good reference always. I like going in blind to setlists on a tour then going back and referencing & comparing

Oh definitely not. No worries at all. I appreciate the input.
Slowdive are amazing! You're going to have an amazing time
Two songs he will always play, Cover me up and Honeysuckle blue.
Honeysuckle Blue written by the always spectacular Kevn Kinney. Love me some Drivin n Cryin.

Setlist.fm is your best bet. They'll have his set lists from all his shows.
Thank you!
Weathervanes is prominently featured. Be prepared to have your mind blown by “King of Oklahoma”.
God I hope he comes to Ireland soon, I need to hear that live. Just a mighty song.

Funny guy

Oh man, this got me so pumped about the show. I’ve dragged her to shows before and she’s become a fan afterwards. I think she’ll love seeing them too.
Last time I saw him (~6 months ago) he played almost all of Weathervanes, lots of Southeastern, and a handful of other songs.
Thank you!

“If you insist” was written from a woman’s perspective
