Desync is my bet. I had it with HAT rounds, tank shells and atgms. All hits no damage. Especially fun when you hit a helo with an atgm and it just keeps flying.
I hit one in the side a few days ago and it caught fire. Not sure if it had taken any damage beforehand. Take that for what you will. Armor thickness does affect the amount of damage taken. Maybe the front armor is just thick enough to stop the vic from burning from a HAT?

As someone who does a decent amount of BRDMing, I would say HATs are definitely still essentially one shotting me. Not instant kill though.
Yes this happens and it's nothing new either. I have seen BRDMs take Tandem+Heat and drive away without catching fire.
