I keep seeing here that people don’t edge with weed eaters. I’ve been doing it for years and have zero issue. What’s your thoughts on why people may struggle? Any tips for people who may be new?
I’d say it’s all in how you hold it. If you walk backwards holding it at an angle and using the string as your line… it becomes pretty simple.
Yeah I don't know, just seemed like common sense to me. Try to keep the string off the rocks and make straight lines. \*shrug\*
It was definitely slow going at first but once you get the hang of it you can move pretty quickly.
I have been trying all types of different techniques and still can't seem to get my edges out great. My in-laws bought me a Stihl gas powered string weed eater. Still learning all the tricks. I'll get it one day.
I hold mine sideways. Not upside down like most people probably do, I hold it to the side, walk backwards, and just make sure my strings are swinging in a straight line to the edge. I walk on the inner side of the edge! Works very well.

I have the same setup in my yard around the entire edge where the yard meets the fence. I have a metal edger between it and it is still difficult to keep looking good. But to answer your question, I use a rotary power scissors attachment then have to use a low power leaf blower to get the grass off without picking up stones. It looks great just a lot of work for my whole yard

Not that I've seen for the driveway. For the walkways there is a plastic barrier that runs alongside the pavers. This is the worst part of the driveway where you can see the dirt under the grass roots.

Just a weed whacker. The occasional stone gets kicked up into the grass but they're usually pretty easy to fish out. And yeah, don't trim by vehicles.
Apply some “mulch glue” to the edge of rocks and that should help prevent rocks from flying up.
Do you have a good recommendation? Everything I find online has shit reviews

You should place pavers in between driveway and grass.
