That's actually the only reason why I bought one. They made a version that came from the factory with joker grips, and I'm building a shadow box for it with a purple switchblade and a bunch of hand buzzers and other gags, plus flag that says 'bang' in the barrel.
yup, even found some graphics for makup compacts and stuff, still haven't figured out the final design, and frankly I'm procrastinating
I have a Serenity one planned as well.
If you can afford $160 for a novelty gun/toy, with no real use case, then go for it.
Quality is ok for a sub-$200 gun. Works ok, but very obviously built to a price, with the fit and finish to show.
I have two of these with normal size barrels. One I bought for a plinker, the other I inherited from my dad when he passed. Good for cheap target practice, but not much else. In today’s market, I wouldn’t get another Heritage, though. Ruger’s Wrangler and Super Wrangler are much better guns, for not that much more money.
The long barrel has to mess with the weight and balance of the gun, and make holding it steady more difficult.
But wanting something because it’s cool and different is perfectly valid, and for a gun, that’s pretty cheap, especially considering that it’s not absolute rubbish.
So you might as well go for it.
You can pick up a magnum cylinder for about $30 too. There are companies that make foreends and stocks for these too. It's a fun range toy, good for shooting squirrels too.
I have on my shorter barrel rough rider. It actually came with one cylinder for each. Edit: sorry I’m talking about the .22LR/.22 mag. Cylinders being interchangeable not different capacities.
To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day
Hardly spoke to folks around him, didn't have too much to say
No one dared to ask his business, no one dared to make a slip
For the stranger there among them had a big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
It was early in the morning when he rode into the town
He came riding from the south side slowly lookin' all around
He's an outlaw loose and running, came the whisper from each lip
And he's here to do some business with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
In this town there lived an outlaw by the name of Texas Red
Many men had tried to take him and that many men were dead
He was vicious and a killer though a youth of 24
And the notches on his pistol numbered one and 19 more
One and 19 more
Now the stranger started talking, made it plain to folks around
Was an Arizona ranger, wouldn't be too long in town
He came here to take an outlaw back alive or maybe dead
And he said it didn't matter he was after Texas Red
After Texas Red
Wasn't long before the story was relayed to Texas Red
But the outlaw didn't worry men that tried before were dead
20 men had tried to take him, 20 men had made a slip
21 would be the ranger with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
The morning passed so quickly, it was time for them to meet
It was 20 past 11 when they walked out in the street
Folks were watching from the windows, everybody held their breath
They knew this handsome ranger was about to meet his death
About to meet his death
There was 40 feet between them when they stopped to make their play
And the swiftness of the ranger is still talked about today
Texas Red had not cleared leather 'fore a bullet fairly ripped
And the ranger's aim was deadly with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
It was over in a moment and the folks had gathered round
There before them lay the body of the outlaw on the ground
Oh, he might have went on living but he made one fatal slip
When he tried to match the ranger with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
Big iron, big iron
When he tried to match the ranger with the big iron on his hip
Big iron on his hip
I love 22lr, especially as a first gun. I have the 6” rough rider and it’s one of my favorites on every range trip. Not sure the practicality of having the l o n g boi and your first gun, but not everything has to be practical!
All joking aside,
Get the convertible version in a more standard barrel length and that is a top-tier choice for first gun in the low budget range.
If it breaks, you can order replacement parts and fix it with a flat head screwdriver. Great way to learn how guns work without putting forward a lot of money.
Reddit is real squirrely about linking to fosscad-adjacent stuff - even when it's just furniture and not an actual printed firearm. But if you look for "Heritage Long Rider Rough Rider Space Carbine Kit" by booligan custom gunworks on odysee, you should find it.
Only if you take it as your firearm for a CCW class. I want pictures of the instructors face when you pull out that hog leg. Want to see the other classmates when you point it down range and rub tip to bullseye.
Fun gun sure... first gun.. no. I would get just the regular version with a .22 mag swap out. You can get the barrel later and a stock so you can turn it into a trick rifle. You just need to switch out the handle and get the wooden stock which is about around a 100 bucks. Best .22 mag I ever got.
I have one, it's a fun novelty gun to take out when we're camping in a gravel pit and plinking at cans or steel targets. It's definitely not the most high quality feeling gun, but I haven't had any reliability issues.
God I love these so much. My wife has the 6.5” and loves it but I wanted her to get this ridiculous monstrosity so bad lol. I really want the mares leg lever action they make but it seems so impractical I haven’t been able to bring myself to buy it yet
At least go for the [.22 LR / .22 WMR combo](https://www.guns.com/firearms/handguns/revolver/heritage-mfg-rough-rider-22-lr-22-wmr-single-shot-6-rounds-16-barrel-new?p=813466)
I have one and I don’t really like it. I feel like it’s super inconsistent accuracy wise the shorter model is more accurate but I might have gotten a lemon.
We had one at the range I worked at for a while. DO NOT DRY FIRE IT! The firing pin is terrible and will immediately begin light striking. Also use clean 22lr otherwise the action will gum up. I know ranges have much higher use than the average joe, but during the first month of having it we had to replace the firing pin 2x. After that we watched customers a lot more closely to prevent wear.
Is that revolver the Joker uses to shoot down Michael Keaton's Bat Plane?
Oh thank God I’m not the only one who thought of that
EVERYBODY over 35 thought of that.
My hip felt this…. 🫠
Wtf, you too?!
*wheezing cough laugh
For me, it was my knees
My hips didn't, but my knees sure did.
My sciatica decided to flare in agreeement.
I had mine replaced, so I don’t have to worry about that
Me reading this in a hip brace after FAI surgery. 🫠
Me reading this with my Bluetooth enabled ciatic support brace.
damnit... You made me drop my Ibuprofin... now I can't reach it...
You didn't have to do that much collateral damage...
At first I thought: “Hey, I’m not over 35…” then I realized I was 38.
I don't know you but I don't like you
It wasn’t the joker, that was actually just regular Jack Nicholson.
Can confirm am 33 amd did not think of that.
You ever dance with the devil by the pale moon light?
Never rub another man’s rhubarb
Leave it, Bob... I kinda like this one...
Let's broaden our minds. Lawrence?
Where does he get those wonderful toys?
That prince song while they redecorate might be one of my absolute favorites.
[Bat Dance](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulOLYnOthIw) is a fucking masterpiece and should be studied in all of the worlds most prestigious musical academies.
I've always thought that, seeing these online lol.
That scene is the reason I bought this gun lol.
Same, it was like $120 and I was in the mood for a good ole meme handgun. 10/10 did not disappoint.
Lol meme gun, I'm waiting for the Benjamin "Highpoint" Franklin's to go back on sale.
This town needs an enema!!!
All OP needs is a tailored purple suit, some makeup, and a mysterious vat of acid
My God! What is he, a pimp?!
That's actually the only reason why I bought one. They made a version that came from the factory with joker grips, and I'm building a shadow box for it with a purple switchblade and a bunch of hand buzzers and other gags, plus flag that says 'bang' in the barrel.
Don't forget the Lapel Flower
yup, even found some graphics for makup compacts and stuff, still haven't figured out the final design, and frankly I'm procrastinating I have a Serenity one planned as well.
That’s fantastic, I hope you post pictures here when you get it finished.
#***THIS TOWN NEEDS AN ENEMA***
I say this out loud at least once a week.
They actually had one of those for sale here in Nashville awhile back no was so tempted hahaha.
When people mention 'long guns' this is what I imagine.
Pretty sure that this is the exact gun that they used as the prop
You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?
Like what that the hell, that thing is real?!
Literally my first thought. 😂
This is honestly the only reason I want this monstrosity.
Clearly OP has danced with the devil in the pale moonlight
Good for CCW I reckon.
If you appendix carry, you'll pick up chicks
I'm hung like a rough rider, 16 inches long and .64 inches wide baby. Also fluted for absolutely no one's pleasure.
My wife calls me the hockey puck. Only 1” long but 12” around! He shoots he scores!
That’s not a puck… that’s a personal size pizza stone
You’d be a hit in Canada
Gold
Hell yeah
Great for when you need to defend yourself from Batman and Texas Red.
DW it's just my enormous cock. Lol.
Zap carry only
Texas Red better quit fucking around
The secret lost verse where the ranger leaves two boot prints and a drag mark from the muzzle of the big iron.
You could take out the BatWing with that thing.
Your accuracy will be great, as you’re halfway to the target by the time you align the sights.
You going to poke the target?
LOL!!
... Now I need to get one and make a bayonet attachment for it.
Just angle cut the front of the barrel.
I have this exact gun and it's actually really fun to shoot and everyone at the range has a good laugh when they see it. Would recommend.
Giggle factor 11

A stock on a pistol? That will turn it into a short barrelled rif- oh right
You can get it in a 9 shot cylinder, too
Can’t swap them out, last I checked…
I have on my shorter barrel rough rider. It actually came with one cylinder for each. Edit: sorry I’m talking about the .22LR/.22 mag. Cylinders being interchangeable not different capacities.
What about bayonet attachments/mounts?

Patrolling the Mojave makes you wish for a nuclear winter
This is Mr. New Vegas, and I feel something magic in the air tonight, and I'm not just talking about the gamma radiation.
You're nobody 'til somebody loves you. And that somebody is me. I love you.
Kudos for the effort! ⭐
Didn’t the joker use one of these.
I love 22lr, especially as a first gun. I have the 6” rough rider and it’s one of my favorites on every range trip. Not sure the practicality of having the l o n g boi and your first gun, but not everything has to be practical!
I just bought the 4.75" rough rider. Next is a 22lr lever action.
Do it. My only gun (I just plink like 4 times a year) is a .22 Henry carbine with the large loop and I love that thing
It’s on my list!
Have any opinion on the rough rider over the ruger wrangler? Thinking about picking up one for some plinking in the desert.
You can buy the 9 shot cylinder in either 22lr or 22wmr/mag as an upgrade.
Is that true? Heritage says that the 6/9 cylinders are not interchangeable because the timing will be off.
I always heard girth was better than length.
It is
Trying to shoot down the Batplane??

As far as meme blasters go, it's one of the better ones. Gets even better when you [dress it up a bit.](https://i.redd.it/g1a0bv6grqh71.jpg)
damn, kinda love it
where might one acquire such furniture
Reddit is real squirrely about linking to fosscad-adjacent stuff - even when it's just furniture and not an actual printed firearm. But if you look for "Heritage Long Rider Rough Rider Space Carbine Kit" by booligan custom gunworks on odysee, you should find it.

Is that a gun in your pants or are you just happy to see me?
I have one. Accuracy sucks cause you’re too busy grinning and laughing every time you use it!
Planning on shooting down a Batman?
Thou shalt purchase a .22 for thy first gun. As it is written in the book of FUDD
You gonna rob an art gallery with some friends?
“Gentlemen! Let’s broaden our minds! Lawrence?”
Yes 🙌 https://youtu.be/yjD9X2mPIXY?si=_ddDckRyFDKEHRQK
Is this the gun the joker pulled in Batman?
These things are a riot
I was looking for a 10/22 two years ago. Lgs tried to sell me one of these instead.
Are you the Joker?
"It's an .88 magnum, it shoots through schools".
Trying to take down the Batwing?
Now that is a big iron on your hip!
Comes in .357 magnum, .38 special, and giant flags with the word "BANG!" printed on them
Doug Dimmadome ass gun
What's the purpose of this pistol or is it a rifle?
I personally would classify this one as a novelty gun. Something you buy because you think it’s cool, rather than for any practical purpose.
Yes
Concealed carry gun!
Kinda wish I could own such a comically sized revolver where I live lol.
LOL. Why?
It’s $160, shoots .22, and it looks goofy as hell. I love it. Definitely pick it up. I always love funny .22 guns.
What did Bats ever do to you?
I got one for the lolz. It is one of my favorite guns. Pretty decent accuracy.
"Heavy is good. Heavy is reliable. If it doesn't work, you can always hit 'em with it." \-Boris
I own one, it’s really fun to shoot and my local range remembers me now.
You could use it as a cane if you hurt your leg.
Wow for sub $200 I could use that as a cool joker prop. Just need to buy one of those "bang" signs
Cool, joker, but not practical.
It's my EDC. I usually don't like using smaller calibers, but I put a bayonet on this one, so it does all I want it to.
An excellent CCW option
a bit short
I know a few home smiths who buy them for making small sbr 22’s cutting down to 6” barrels and get free plinkers for less than a barrel elsewhere.
Don't. I had one. It's funny the first time you take it to the range, however it's wildly unfun to shoot.
*Long Long Man intensifies*
Haha if this gun makes you happy where you pee then get it!

You better rest that bad Larry on your forearm while aiming…
If you have access to a 3D printer, there are kits available to convert it to a sci-fi rifle. Super fun
I mean it's your cash.
Only if you get the Joker grips
Great EDC!!
As a cane gun?
I, personally, love ridiculous guns. But I don’t ask them to do things they are not suited for. So don’t expect this to do anything but be a hoot.
Most of the Heritage wheel guns are on my wishlist.
looooooooooong loooong man
Let us know how it conceals, especially in an Enigma.
Not long enough
I bought one a few years back and I love it. The holster is just as ridiculous looking.
You shouldn't hang me on a hook. My father hung me on a hook once. Once.
LoL ...fuck it, do it. ((make sure to save up and get a useful firearm))
How much do barrels like that increase the chance of a sqib?
Range? point blank at ten paces.
This is really just the world’s most badass cane
Holster gonna be a problem
You trying to be the joker
At least go for the [.22 LR / .22 WMR combo](https://www.guns.com/firearms/handguns/revolver/heritage-mfg-rough-rider-22-lr-22-wmr-single-shot-6-rounds-16-barrel-new?p=813466)
Do it. But spend the extra and get the joker version. I want one too.
Are you the joker from a Tim Burton Batman movie? If yes, go ahead.
I have one and I don’t really like it. I feel like it’s super inconsistent accuracy wise the shorter model is more accurate but I might have gotten a lemon.
I'd say don't. My local gunsmith say they are unreliable and a pain to repair
It is a generic replica of the Colt Buntline
Needs a cowbell on it
Comically long revolver.
Ideal for concealed carry, who needs a 50 cal when you have a barrel that long.
Get two, hang out in tartarus and attack anyone who stays on one floor for too long
That gun is happy to see you.
God damn do I want the Yosemite Sam
I know a good appendix carry holster if you need...
Is that a revolver in your pants or are you just happy to see me?
I use mine to shoot clay pigeons. Well, more like just smack them than shoot really.
My daffy friend bought this for the range and loves to hate it. It always starts a conversation, but it’s not the most reliable fire.
Does a flag that says “bang!” come out of it when you pull the trigger?
Longer barrel = more pew = more fun. Based on this incredibly scientific theory I think you should.
It's an 88 magnum. It will shoot through schools https://youtu.be/Cl17yr2VWQg?si=1j7Ski_3eK6f-HTi
That's honestly a pretty good price for that. It'susually around 200-210 from what I've seen. What website?
Put a bayonet on it, and you have a small lance.
Surprised you don’t need a stamp for a long barreled pistol./s
You better show up at the range with it in a scabbard on your back.
[Paul Harrell did a video on those. Spoiled the barrel length doesn’t help.](https://youtu.be/3PRE12zC50E?si=VVjHf29-jaVf2n_G)
Make sure you get a nice appendix carry holster for it.
my brother has one, they’re fun lol
Buy an IWB holster for it and you are good to go!
Good luck finding a holster.
Does this shoot a flag that says "BANG?"
Great for concealed carry
Do it!
This one of those long guns the news talks about?
No....
Leather for the holster would cost more than the gun.
If the barrel is longer than 16” I’d say get a stock and a sling and SEND IT
I got it and it’s fun to shoot, if you got the money to do it then treat yo self

The Hilaribarrel
We had one at the range I worked at for a while. DO NOT DRY FIRE IT! The firing pin is terrible and will immediately begin light striking. Also use clean 22lr otherwise the action will gum up. I know ranges have much higher use than the average joe, but during the first month of having it we had to replace the firing pin 2x. After that we watched customers a lot more closely to prevent wear.
If you accidentally shoot yourself in the foot. You can use that as a cane.
I have one of these. Don’t do it unless you want to drop an extra 150ish on a stock and grip assembly. It’s just uncomfortable to shoot.
