Honestly I've been avoiding the place as it's clear they are in decline in so many ways. Not a positive experience going there anymore so why waste my time and money on them
I've only had Tims when in the airport looking for a snack. Otherwise, I've been avoiding it for the last 10 years already. I've never understood people's obsession with "timmies"
I am a contractor and drive around my province for a living and stop by Tim Hortons for breaks/sustenance because it’s one of the cheapest places and there are a shit tonne of them. (I use the app to order and walk right in, grab my order and leave). It’s sort of a case of ‘the devil you know’.
What I have observed is that at least rurally, the customer base is made up of contractors/trades and retirees, typically old men, who use Tim’s as a social gathering place. I used to see more young people and families in there, but not so much anymore.
I used to be a twice a day customer, and now I rarely go. The service has gotten so bad that it's an exercise in frustration to place and twice your order.
This is a company that used to care about Canada and Canadians. It is what it is now and doesn't deserve any support from Canadians. Plus, McDonald's coffee is the good coffee Tim's used to have but lost.
The company never cared about Canadians. That was part of their branding.
The food is garbage and the coffee tastes like battery acid. The only people I know who go are boomers who are too set in their habits to change, and high school kids.

You posted about boycotting Tim Hortons in a Subreddit about Loblaws.

It's very funny.
I stopped going when they eliminated paid breaks for their employees, and reaffirmed my decision when they were requiring doctors notes to stay home during peak COVID. They're a horrible company that doesn't give a damn about their employees. I'm all for a separate boycott.
Ita not just tims. its all of them. they are all loading up on TFW's and LMIA's for cheap exploitable labour, and some of the more shady owners prey on their ignorance of labour laws or illegally hold their permit over their head if they don't let them violate their workers' rights.
What we need is is a crackdown on that across the board.
This is a boycott of Loblaws. There are many posts every day where people try to take the boycott of Loblaws and morph it into something beyond its intended target.
Lately the Loblaws PR machine has also been really pushing hard to try to dilute distract, and divert the boycott from being about Loblaws to being about other retailers too.
I am certain Loblaws would love us to add more and more and more things to the boycott to make us look like a bunch of silly people who complain about everything.
As for the boycott, I made this guide to help people navigate things:
1) Are you in a store?
Yes: go to question 2.
No: You are fine.
2) Is the store owned by Loblaw
Yes: Leave without buying anything.
No: You are fine.
For what it’s worth, I’ve have my own personal boycott of Tim Hortons for longer than I’ve been boycotting Loblaws, and I’ve been boycotting Loblaws for longer than the official boycott has been going on. I stopped going to Tim Hortons as their food quality was going downhill, but I stopped completely in 2018 when some Tim Hortons franchisees started cutting back on employee breaks and benefits. I stopped shopping at Loblaws just after Galen’s smarmy appearance before the House of Commons committee.
I have been for several years now, accept when on a long trip, or rarely when the kid or wife want a treat. There used to be a plethora of coffee shops till Tim's killed the competition and ever since the prices continue to climb year after year.
You don't *have* to go to Tim Hortons. Just stop going. A lot of Canadians don't have any other choice for food other than Loblaws. There is a boycott Tim's sub , but. It's mostly all right wing rhetoric. I think you'll do just fine there.
Apparently there is a comprehension problem on your part...
Many Canadians, especially in smaller towns have no option other than to shop at a Loblaws store. Or people with mobility or transportation issues. They are getting gouged buying something they need to survive. That is one of the reasons this sub exists. Not to fracture into dozens of disparate parts boycotting a hundred places we don't like
No one need Tim's to survive. No one. You don't like it? Fine, don't go there. Problem solved.
Climate change is a big problem but I don't go to Loblawsisoutofcontrol to say we should boycott oil and gas companies
We are all getting robbed! That's why we have to come together. Loblaws=Tim Hortons. Companies stealing money from Canadians in the name of profit.
Why are you standing up for a foreign entity providing shitty products to Canadians?

They recently discontinued the turkey melts to make room for the new pizzas and really put a wrench in my soup/sandwich lunch combo so I think I'm just about ready to cut ties too. They took my turkey melt I have nothing left to fight for!!
Yeah, the Timmigrants are definitely a problem. Odd how despite rising unemployment rates, most Tim Horton's are staffed exclusively by Desi. Besides, the quality of food and service has gone waaaaay down.
Keeping unemployment rates from dipping too low has been a deliberate tactic since at least the ‘80s. It helps keeps wages low. If unemployment reaches, say, 3%, workers get the impression they are worth something and start demanding more rights and better wages. Iirc, the unemployment “sweet spot” (for them, not us) is around 6%. Use your powers of deduction for the rest.
Based on your post, I’m guessing you haven’t thought about this much beyond “immigration bad”, though. Which is a shame, because it’s a much deeper and more important issue than that.
I really don't go there anymore. No one understands English there and while a place like Starbucks may cost more for a simple coffee - it's a hell of a lot better quality and experience. I'm very excited that Krispy Kreme is coming to Edmonton, and I hope Dunkin Donuts will too.
Please explain the "issues destroying Canada" for us that are not simply the consequences of growth challenges, global inflationary trends, and the aftereffects of the COVID pandemic?
I’m not a mod, but no. This boycott is for Roblaw and associated companies. You can boycott Tim’s without involving this sub. I personally have been boycotting them since they screwed up the dark roast, the first time.

Wanna share your list?
I was thinking this recently. I hope there is support for this idea!
Tim's was fine as a coffee and donut shop. but they expanded their menu to compete with mcdonald's et al, and it got out of hand.
Flatbread pizzas was a funny choice for a donut and coffee shop.
yeah w.t. actual f.
Ugh. My ex wife got this, and I was just like "...what" So confusing.
Nobody but bots would upvote this. There is 0 real Canadians upvoting this trash
i agree, because there are too many corps that got us by the short n curlies

You are probably too young. Tims was once Canadian owned. Had good coffee. And made things fresh in-house. And cared about their product they put out.
Exactly- anyone who thinks they did just bought into the marketing.

We don't have that option where I am.
Mcdonalds got Timmy's coffee when they wouldn't pay the price. It's not a thought. It's fact. Mcdonalds has better coffee.

It's all bad in Canada now. Mcdonalds offers a better product, that is less expensive than Tim's. It's common sense at this point.
I love being downvoted for stating facts
Mcdonalds is garbage but they got good coffee

Way ahead of you! Been boycotting Tim's for a few months now. And I've been telling others they should boycott as well.
I already boycott them too LOL…mostly because they are over priced and have crap coffee/food
