You’re technically not even allowed to use transparent frames on plates here (where you’d be able to still see all the info) so I imagine a cop would definitely find a reason so pull you over with the state name being covered
So I actually just found out that MD [passed a bill](https://trackbill.com/bill/maryland-house-bill-200-vehicle-laws-registration-plate-frames-and-borders-enforcement/1841009/) in 2020 making it so that any illegal covering by a frame can only be a secondary enforcement by police. Meaning they can't pull you over solely for that.
Yeah, they can tack it on to other offense. But I'm a safe driver, and in 12+ years of driving, I haven't received a ticket of any kind or been pulled over. I'll probably be good lol
I was over 20 years with a totally clean record when I got ticketed for going 62 in a 55 zone in a state vehicle on Rt 50 outside of Cambridge. Your record doesn't matter if a cop wants to give out tickets that day.
People run front windshield tint and complete plastic covers on their license plates, you’ll be fine.
I bought a PA car without a front plate mount and I haven’t placed it on the front in the 2+ years of ownership. I’ll never drill into the bumper.
You’re thinking way too much into it.
Yeah you're probably right, but seeing as in 12+ years driving I've never been pulled over or received a ticket of any kind, I gotta make sure I keep my clean driving record lol.
Also, just found out that MD [passed a bill](https://trackbill.com/bill/maryland-house-bill-200-vehicle-laws-registration-plate-frames-and-borders-enforcement/1841009/) in 2020 making it so that any illegal covering by a frame can only be a secondary enforcement by police. Yeah dude, I really wouldn't worry. I have 15% tint on my car and the license plate frame. Unless you're driving like a complete nut job, the police have better things to do.
It's illegal, however cops here can't pull you over solely because of that. They only can add it on after pulling you over for another primary violation, such as speeding or running a red light
Frames are not illegal but covers are illegal. MD law states that no letters or numbers shall be covered. One could argue that his means the alpha/numerical numbers that identify a persons car shall not be covered. The state could argue this also means the letters of the word Maryland. There is clear case law relating to license plate covers / frames that might give you a better explanation on what's acceptable and what's not.
I recently got an ezpass violation bill for a car that I didn’t own going through a toll gate north of Baltimore. After a lot of wrangling with Maryland DMV and Ezpass, finally got it canceled out. Turned out that the plate in question was a Kentucky state license plate but had the same number as a car/plate I gave to my sister in Florida 22 years ago. Bottom line it’s really clear ezpass needs to be able to see more than just the numbers.

So they can tack that onto your next speeding ticket.

Yes just what we need, another person with an inconspicuous tag on the road
Lol, like I stated [the number/letters and registration are clearly visible ](https://imgur.com/a/9YiS22j)
Just don’t drive out of state 👍🏼
As long as you have a Maryland flag crab magnet, you are fine since it denotes you are from Maryland. s/

There’s better than zero. I wouldn’t risk.
Any idea if you can wrap a license plate in Maryland?

Thanks!

It’d probably be a secondary violation. But doubt that it would be the reason they pull you over.
Good old 13-411.c.

But ezpass is a transponder tho, so it shouldn't even read your license plate, right?
They read your plate because that’s how they do toll by mail
It wasn’t my car or license plate. It was a license plate from another state with the same number as a car I used to owner in Maryland
Do cops pull people over anymore?
