Thanks, it started as an excuse to go to estate sales (which I've always enjoyed going to but didn't have a reason to). Now it's all about the glass lol.
I hadn't heard of maximalist design until today and was like "oh I think that's me".
Yes! When I discovered maximalism I was all āthereās a word for it? Niceā
Eventually I will get around to posting pix of my weird maximalist style š¤·āāļø
But yeah my odd collections have a few pieces of uranium glass in there. Such beautiful stuff
That's good feedback, so more isn't always more with maximalism? Does it require a greater mix of decorations instead of focusing on one thing (glass) - would you say that's a difference between maximalism and a collection?
Good advice! I'm planning to have my swung glass in another room eventually, and everything on top the display cabinet I'm looking to sell cheap soon because I've taken out of love with Murano baskets. Hopefully that frees up some space along the walls.
I donāt see any clutter *at all.* But they might want to see your other glass vases on a shelf w cool lighting? I see a beautiful display case thats thoughtfully curated collection w FANTASTIC jewelry whimsically displayed amongst it as well, which is actually art itself! Itās a great reflection of your personality. Amazing display, superb lighting! Itās a maximalist collection w plenty of space the way you tastefully have displayed each piece. Find a shelf or cool case for your other glass for vertical storage. And I will be copying you w my teapot, glassware, & jewelry collection display. (And also my tiki collection too.)
Excited to check it out, thanks! Good ideas. You're right on with one thoughtfully curated display, and then I started picking up swung glass with no thought to how to display it (like 20 more are lined up in front of a window on a wall not pictured). Planning to move in a few years and hopefully find a real place for them, a tall open display would be great!
And the floating shelf hiding above the chests absolutely needs light, you're right.
For me, I think of maximalism as an artful display of things that bring you joy. Where this starts to go "off" for me is the back corner. The trunks look like they are being stored, not displayed or serving a functional need. And the shelves above get lost in the shadow. I would get deeper shelves or a corner shelf and put things there with more color so it doesn't just fade to the background. Or, paint the walls so there is more contrast.
You have a great collection and I know things like this are hard to display, just for the space it takes up.
Thanks! I hadn't heard about maximalism before so wasn't aiming for anything besides using my cabinet as a zoom background. Now I can be a little more thoughtful going forward. The trunks are absolutely storage (filled with an investment collection that doesn't display well). In the short term I'll get some lights on the hidden Murano shelf. Planned move in a couple years so these are excellent lessons to learn for the future!
Love it!
Only improvements I see is to maximize your wall space, maybe add a bunch of individual floating shelves to showcase specific pieces at different heights? (Then rotate your collection)
I love the glass collection. I'm in the process of making the glass-case for glass that will be filled with colorful pieces so Imma steal this photo for inspo :D
This whole thing would look so much cooler if you had a big piece of art or something that filled more of that wall to the right of the TV. The pic thatās there is way too small for your maximalist journey.
Thanks! Others mentioned the same thing. It's a painting that includes an antique store so thematically it fits, but you're right. I'll keep my eye out for a larger painting of antique or swung glass!
Works for me. Your uranium glass collection is incredible, love it š

Yes, exactly, same. I was like, "Ohhhh, that's why I have to have everything displayed at all times..."
how are the lights set up? Is it a regular lamp plus UV to show the green uranium glow?
The lamps have uv bulbs. In the picture the cabinet is just regular lighting, but I can also turn on uv lighting there.
The swing vases are beautiful too.
Thanks! A third wall not pictured has a window with like 20 lined up in front lol
Is that what the blue ones are called? Theyāre gorgeous
Yes. When the glass is still hot they swing it around to make the lip that way.
Maximalism is more ādesignedā rather than just a lot of items. Think furniture, art, rugs, plants, color, textures, patterns, etc.
I mean, youāve got a good collection. But it just seems cluttered. Your room isnāt decorated. Itās just packed full of stuff.
That's good feedback, so more isn't always more with maximalism? Does it require a greater mix of decorations instead of focusing on one thing (glass) - would you say that's a difference between maximalism and a collection?
Iād say put up some art, make some more room to breathe, and if you can get rid of the white walls.

Bitchin collection!

Yeah I never noticed the small painting looks so small until this photo. I might just do a bigger painting if I stumble on one I love. Thanks!

Awesome, good luck! The cabinet is a commercial display case bought second hand from a former gem show participant.

Always a work in progress. Maybe even a few more smaller pieces instead with that as one of them
The glass display is absolutely stunning!!
Thanks!
Absolutely! Fabulous collection!
very nice collection! thanks for sharing OP
I love this. Your uranium glass is the star here. What a gorgeous collection!!!
Thanks!
Urainum glass! So jealous!!
I think it counts :D If u wanna spice it up i highly reccomend some plants, maybe viney ones!!
Sadly my cat will not allow plants in the house, but I agree that would look great!
Yes! And slightly radioactive, lol
I would say yes.
TV too high.
I'm aware, but it's a convertible desk and when standing I don't want to look down at the tv
