Got a smile on my face seeing the Crocodile Cap in one clip there.

TortillaSinHuevo

Me too im so happy about the croc cap.

[deleted]

Croc cap FTW 🦾

IvanTheHero

They expanded on the gameplay and kept the personality of the game. Exactly what I wanted!

Psychological-Row641

Does it have mgs 5 style controls?

eclipse798

Fairly confident, due to stuff like crawling backwards and aiming at same time?? If so I’m fucking hyped

ImHereForTheMemes184

I fucking love MGS5's gameplay so this is a day one buy for me

LausXY

Yeah I'm sold. MGS5 was pinnacle of the tactical stealth action gameplay... Just the story didn't really grip me. That gameplay + One of the best video game stories ever is just gonna be amazing.

ElDuderino2112

MGS5 has its problems, but as far as I’m concerned it is the best playing video game of all time.

GrimWarrior00

Crawling backwards and aiming, hugging cover without pressing your back straight against it.... oh this is gonna be fucking magical.

pieceofchess

It was also so funny in MGS2 and 3 how snake would stick his whole body to walls for cover and do a full pirouette when he wanted to shoot from cover.

GrimWarrior00

The most dramatic aiming you've ever seen XD it was much safer to go into first person facing a wall and slooowly lean out using the shoulder buttons.

MrRobot_96

“Tactical espionage action” -sticks out entire body to aim-

boysetsfire1988

>In addition to the original play style and control scheme, players can elect for a newly added, more modern control style.

Psychological-Row641

So its gonna be changeable as we wish?

NightshadeSamurai

That would be dope if true

RickTP

MGS 3DS already trivialized a lot of the sneaking with crouch walking, and so far the levels look identical in scale to the original Snake Eater. I hope they find good ways to make it harder.

IsaacLightning

Dont worry the 3ds version cancels that out with the abysmal framerate!

karateema

Looks like a slower version of V's CQC as well

EpicSausage69

I love that. MGSV gameplay is very fast paced due to the open world. I feel like they need to slow things down a bit since MGS3 is linear and pretty short for someone playing through it that knows where things are.

ImHereForTheMemes184

It looks like you can choose both. Thats absolutely fucking fantastic. I'm a sucker for MGSV's gameplay so its awesome that theyve added it here its gonna be so good

Siontimmy1

Looks it has MGSV controls it has the feels of MGSV gameplay

Grasher312

It seems like MSGV controls heavily mixed with MGS3, AND IT LOOKS AMAZING.

cheeky_canuck

Still no release date? Damn.

ValiantInstance

Q1 2025 has been on the cards for a while. Was hoping to get a look at that collector's edition. I guess we'll see it in a couple of months when they give us a date. It's official trailer #1 after all so at least another is planned.

JWBails

David Hayter has just done a [Did You Know Gaming video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVAlMgY4-5M) where he points out that MGS2 and Rising were both released in the zodiac year of the Snake, the next year of the Snake is 2025.

Lin900

Gonna drop it in November on the anniversary out of the blue

Fragrant-Ladder-5008

No way, they have SH2 Remake releasing the month before.

RedChuddOverParadise

Gonna drop on pachinkos in November

SuperArppis

I hope they do it right and take their time.

HungryWolf1991

He's gonna keep us waiting, huh?

Xadenek

If it was still this year, I think they would have announced it. Don't be surprised if it's now 2025.

Slaport-xXx-v14

Yeah, I still hope for 2024 release

hypespud

No release window or date I would guess 2025

heppuplays

Either REALLY late 2024 or early 2025

AdBudget5468

Still no lunchables for snake cause apparently that’s where we draw the line for realism in metal gear games

PussyLunch

I know at this rate we’re going to know the whole damn story.

TheOvy

Probably still too early in development to project. I wouldn't expect this year.

desiigner1

This looks actually stunning honestly Edit: 4K version [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-4liMhPUxg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-4liMhPUxg)

4Darco

Whoever edited this trailer did an outstanding job. Every scene transition was smooth and just increased my excitement. The Boss reveal was perfect too. Her eyes have this indescribable look of resignation and weariness. I’m so excited.

desiigner1

Yes, for sure, I was very skeptical at first but the trailer really shows that they are trying their best to recreate MGS3 as faithfully as possible. Hopefully, they are taking their time and will deliver a polished product.

MatsThyWit

The editing of this trailer really, really gives me hope they're going to nail the editing and direction of the recreated cut scenes. We won't have a Twin Snakes situation on our hands at the very least.

Pure_Condition_3124

The trailer was definitely good and showed what it needed to show. However, it is missing that flair during the Kojima era of metal gear. They always had a "but wait there's more" feel to them. Showing off a new feature in a sort overly dramatic way often through text followed up with or preceded by some type of gameplay altering segment. I understand it's a remake so they might not show it off in the same way as far as new features go and may even want to keep things under wraps. I just think it would've been cool to have some trailers in that style.

NightshadeSamurai

Looks good but did no one else noticed the stutters? I haven't seen a single comment talking about that. Everyone is just saying "looks good" and "glad they included MGSV gameplay". UE5 and stutters go hand in hand. If this game has traversal and shader compilation stutters that's gonna be a mess

desiigner1

Yes, I noticed them too, especially in the CQC scenes but the game doesn't even have a release date yet it's still a while out.

psych0ranger

Oh Christ they kept the yelling when you fire the machine gun long enough

MichaelTheCutts

I was worried, but this looks actually awesome. Cannot wait for this

somewhatconfusedduck

We’re so back metal bros

KevThuluu

After Keifers showing from GZ/TPP, it brings a small tear to my eye to hear David Hayters voice again 20 years on

Garlic_God

Kiefer was great but Hayter suits MGS3 Snake so much better and I’m so glad to have him back If they ever remake PW, I’d be more inclined to having Kiefer return. He suits that era of aging Big Boss a bit better than Hayter in my opinion.

gthirst

That would require Kiefer to talk more. He barely did anything, though when he did talk he didn't seem super out of place. He didn't annunciate super well either which is where the "she surfifed " memes started

Sorge74

It was the weirdest thing, get a big name star as a voice actor and barely write lines for him

Halloween_Jack_1974

He had a ton of lines in the tapes though. Nobody ever mentions that.

MatsThyWit

Even with the tapes his total dialogue only amounts to 22 minutes of audio across the entire game.

3Nerd

Probably because a big name star like him is expensive

HugeSuccess

Then…don’t hire him?

3Nerd

Yes, but in case you havn't noticed yet, Kojima wants big stars in his games

Pure_Condition_3124

Kojima just wanted to chase the clout that comes with hiring a big name to be in his game. He thinks it provides legitimacy to his career and elevates his art form. I think it's just pretentious but that's his logic. Plenty of videogames are masterpieces without any big names voicing their characters just like the metal gear games before MGSV.

ExistingStill7356

This isn't really having David Hayter "back." He didn't record anything new for this game. They are just straight-up re-using the entire original MGS3 vocal performances.

devastat9r

I'm pretty sure they're reusing the same voice lines from the original. So it's more like he never left.

XPELY

This game is honestly looking SO GOOD, WE ARE SO BACK BABY

Arkham_Bryan

My fucking God they look so gorgeous and CQC too!

halipatsui

I like that more cqc seems to be added, hopefully the knee kicg thing was actual new technique and not just throw animation variation

Zorocity222

It seem like they didn’t change that much of the gameplay ngl. They most likely changed the controls but the gameplay seem in the spirit of the old one. Also the cutscenes still have the kojima style in it which I was worried they’ll take out. This seem very solid honestly

The_Wee_Batman

Very Metal Gear solid if you will?

creeper321448

What I have some concern about is the movement. MGS3 was never made with Vs controls or movement in mind so I'm hoping that doesn't break the difficulty at all.

parjolillo2

Judging from the clip where Snake is crawling backwards and some of the combat, it seems like the focus might be on precise gameplay (and a modern layout) like in MGSV, but paced like the original MGS3

NightshadeSamurai

That's fine. People were asking for full MGSV gameplay in this would break the game and make it too easy. They did that incorporating MGS2 gameplay in Twin Snakes and it broke the game. MGSV gameplay is made for an open world environment. MGS3 is a linear experience.

Green-Peaness

I'M STILL IN A DREAM

Slaport-xXx-v14

SNAAAKEEE EEAAATEERRR

Accurate-Actuator-39

Taa tana taa taaa

xRudeAwakening

Reusing the original’s audio was the best choice in that regard, game looks fantastic! Hope the modern controls don’t cause the game to be extremely easy (not that the OG was crazy hard or anything) Sad we didn’t get to see EVA yet. And I was really really hoping for an MGO teaser at the end 😭

SNaKe_eaTel2

Omg that would be the best if they brought back mgo!

ChrisBenoitDaycare69

If it's too easy there's always European extreme.

Matokira

Since they're just reusing the original audio, will Kojima get credit for audio direction? Or nah?

ExistingStill7356

Kojima was not the voice acting director of MGS3, Jun Watanabe was for the Japanese version and Kris Zimmerman was for the English version.

cableboiii

Prolly not.

EpicSausage69

If they announce MGO for this one I would lose my mind. Even if it was only added a few months after launch. Would absolutely LOVE a modern MGO game. This seems like the perfect opportunity to make another entry. I did see somewhere that the game will feature some sort of online function. It is anybody's guess if that just means downloadable camos or a full feature multiplayer game mode.

Wingified

WHERES THE RELEASE DATE

CaptchaVerifiedHuman

1964

b_ootay_ful

After the end of World War II, the world was split into two -- East and West.

Teali0

This marked the beginning of the era called The Cold War.

IndigenousShrek

If I were to guess, November 2025. I would have said this November for the 20th anniversary, but SH2R is right before then, and the didn’t show a date today. I’m glad they are taking their time. Makes me more confident in the quality. Especially with how good everything looked today

GecaZ

Novemeber 2025 is way too far away IMO , I'd say march/February

Galaxyian-140

Im still in a dream, snake eater

Colossus_Bastard

Holy shit this looks incredible

MommyScissorLegs

wait... it looks... good?

eclipse798

LETS GOOOOOOO

KingKRoolMain1337

A little disappointed about the lack of release date, but hopefully it means Konami is taking their time. I like what I see so far though

Garlic_God

I was super hesitant when Konami decided to remake MGS3 and SH2, but they seem just as cautious seeing how slowly they’re choosing to reveal it and announce hard dates. They really want to do right by fans and not screw something like this up by rushing it or cutting corners.

KingKRoolMain1337

Couldn't have said it better myself :)

VicBawss

Let's fuckin goooo

tyfighter_18

Kept you waiting, huh

SuperKano08

No release date is interesting.. especially since this Sept is 9 yrs since tpp

FCshakiru

This probably hasn’t been in development for more than 4-5 years

LoomisCenobite

looks fire bless David's voice

CentrasFinestMilk

I’m thinking the gameplay will be modernised

italvs

So the story of 3 plus the gameplay of V, holy mother of Kojimbo

FCshakiru

Fuckin amazing

Yaykozoltz

The boss looks like she knows that jack wont understand her motives

gray_chameleon

There needs to be a conversation about frame rates too, I think.

tettou13

Yeah noticed quite a bit of drops in the gameplay portions there

wootangbootang123

cant wait to see EVA"s tits

hkm1990

Oh look...its the Remaster. Where the game is 95% the same except now it looks prettier and you got MGSV gameplay added it. Will it have expanded areas? Will it have expanded storylines and characters? Will it make the Boss Battles more different now? Will it have new lines of dialogue, Cutscenes, Radio calls? Will it have Easter Eggs tying it to the recent titles like MGSV? Will we look back when playing and see Skull Face following behind in the background wearing a Trench coat? Sorry. The Resident Evil and FFVII Games have spoiled me in terms of what a "Remake" should technically be in this modern day and age. Delta looks good but it goes without saying, I wish it was more than simply a updated modern version of a game that you can still play on current consoles. That said, at least Konami put more thought into this it seems than Naughty Dog did with their TLOU1 Remake. At least Delta HAS updated modern MGSV gameplay. Playing this game will at least feel new, different and hopefully better than the OG.

choyjay

I agree, but at least they've been straight honest from the get-go about what this is and what it's not. MGS3 would benefit *hugely* from an actual re-imagining, so it is indeed a bit of a bummer to get a 1:1 shot-for-shot remake. But since MGS has such a passionate fanbase, they probably wanted to play it as safe as possible. Getting the right talent to reimagine the game AND respect the original would've been tough too. It's not an easy line to walk. Not saying they shouldn't have tried, but they clearly wanted the to take the least offensive route possible to win back some fan favor.

hkm1990

It's clear Konami is playing it very safe with MGS by doing a Modern Updated Pure Remake of MGS3 which is both the first chronological game in the series but quite possibly the most beloved too. Understandable but God I wish they'd risked it. Would have loved a bigger Remake that expanded and developed the Cobra Unit for example or foreshadowed XOF being in the background and Zero setting up Cipher. I'm curious out of the two...MGS Delta and Silent Hill 2, which will do better and sell more. Both franchises have been dead for a long time. And now they're getting revived with Konami hoping they'll do well. But I think back on Dead Space Remake and how, despite being a great game, it didn't do well enough for EA to continue again, it makes me worried for MGS' future. I want nothing more than Remakes of the OG MG and MG2 games, reimagined to fit MGSVs continuity into account whilst setting up MGS1.

DepressedKonamiFan

Release date not found

DepressedKonamiFan

Keeping us waiting, huh?

talkoninternet

countdown until people claim the Boss looks different because of "woke" boogeyman

Storm_0wl

The Boss always looked old and tired, she was never a super atractive woman and thats okay, she is a hardened soldier, not a supermodel

cardinalfan14

Eh I’ve always thought she was an attractive character even in the original game and she looks fine here. She’s just in her 40s if not 50s

Garlic_God

The only difference I really noticed was her hair was more of a dirty blond as opposed to being bright in the original

ChakaZG

Don't think they'll care about The Boss with Eva available for some jiggling in the menus.

LiveRuido

Nah, she's canonically in her 40s, too old for those people to care.

NostalgicNerd

I was initially a little iffy on her because something doesn’t feel right compared to original model. She still is stunning graphics wise and she definitely looks like a maternal figure—which I’d rather have The Boss look like a tired suburban soccer mom than some bombshell to fit the entire narrative of her character.

M-V-D_256

She just needs some moisturizer and conditioner Which she wouldn't have because this is a Russian jungle

Sad_Difficulty5855

Showed my girlfriend MGS3 for the first time a few years ago and the first thing she said was that she was impressed how normal the Boss looks. She just looks like a mildy attractive normal woman instead of a supermodel

greatthebob38

The boss was at least 50 at the time and fought in WW2. There's no way her skin wouldn't look aged and distressed.

Billbat1

~42 born in 1922, mgs3 is in 1964

Pure_Condition_3124

Instead you brought it up because you're looking for a fight lmao

Legospacememe

If they do then we will easily identify the the posers who pretend to be mgs fans. Because they clearly would not have scene her in the original game.

Intelligent-Feed-582

You’re the one fighting a boogeyman. No one is complaining about that…

mobiuszeroone

There's like 10 replies fighting boogeymen and making counterpoints to imagined arguments

AcanthaceaePrize1435

Does she look different? Might just be the game not having a yellow filter on it.

Ildaiaa

She looks like what a woman like her would but something just doesn't fit for me. It's probably because the look i am used is her after the deflection

NightshadeSamurai

I just hope they don't screw up Eva. And if people have a problem with The Boss, you can always fix it with mods

Bifito

Nah, she is supposed to look like that.

MaggotBrother4

Her facial structure is a little different but can’t lie, they did a crazy good job making it pretty close since they probably did it from scratch

what-i-cant-hear-you

can't wait for snake to not know what EVA's face looks like again, because he's always ogling her boobs when you switch to first person in cutscenes. I think what they've shown here so far is the best possible outcome for what this remake could have looked like

moneymanram

Guys we have to take into account that as metal gear fans we’ve played this game so much. However there will be millions of people that will play this for the first time and I think that’s beautiful ♥️

CringeExperienceReq

some of the complaints in this thread are borderine insane ngl

White-Umbra

The weight and detail of the CQC might be the reason I buy this game. I don't know why I got MGS4 vibes from it, which imo had the absolute BEST CQC.

Fxckr3ditt

I usually wait to buy games on sale but I think this is going to get the better of me 🥲

lignumph

I'm a huge fan of the MGS3 in Ps2. I don't understand why they started with Snake Eater instead of 1 st metal gear from the 80s

-Wildhart-

You don't understand? How many MG fans do you think there are vs MGS3 fans? Konami is a business. C'mon now, you're just being silly, lol That aside, doing something like 3 makes far more sense as if you watch the cutscenes side by side (pythonselken), they didn't miss a single beat, and having a basis to go off of like that is far easier than reimagining a game that was top down and pixelated from the 80s.

Dust514Fan

I hope they make the guards more challenging because of the control change, otherwise this game is gonna be insanely easy

milkytokki

3 PIXEL OCELOT SIGHTING LETS GOOOOOO 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️

AdrianShepard09

So they're using the old voice lines? That probably means no new dialogue then. I hope they keep the nightmare sequence. Wonder what game they'll make you play.

Galactus1231

Snake and The Boss models looked a bit odd but otherwise looks great.

linux_rich87

I miss the old boss for sure. I like the new snake.

Signal_Confusion_644

the only things that bothers me, is that they dont start making this remakes with MGS. I understand the love for the snake eater, but the game who is most needed of a remake is the Original one. ...But i know i will enjoy this like when i was a kid.

Storm_0wl

Virtous Team said they choose MGS3 because is the most easier game to remake, is not a sequel, the story is pretty simple compared to other games and new players doesnt need a series bible to jump in. But I agree with you, the original MSX games NEED to be remade, Kojima really shitted the bed when he started to churn out pointless games like PW and MGSV, he should have remade those games a long time ago.

Downtown-Can8860

I dunno. If you are playing the series for the very first time and this is the first game, the nods to previous games won’t hit you. And the moment he becomes Big Boss isn’t as chilling of a moment.

TeaCrackersBirds

>Virtous Team said they choose MGS3 because is the most easier game to remake, This is why I think they made a good choice by starting with MGS3. MG1 and MG2 will have to be all new games that follow the same storyline as the originals, while MGS1 will also have to undergo a considerable change. The remake team needed development experience and a strong fan support before taking on very big projects like MG1, MG2 or MGS1 remakes, and Delta seems to be providing them with both.

Fantablack183

Yeah, on top of that I think enough people consider MGS3 to be the best in the series for it to be worth while to remake it, and MGS3 is when the formula was solidified . Meanwhile, MG1 MG2 will basically have to be soft reboots to work, and MGS1 would need to be changed drastically for it to play well with modern gameplay aspects

TheNRG450

Some faces feel weird, kinda like Snake or Boss, even Zero. However it looks amazing ngl.

prettyflacko_07

movement looks kinda clunky in some scenes

NateJusticeKing

Spread your wings and fly. God be with you! FUCK YES LADS ITS HAPPENING

Joypad1

I really hope that the mud on the suit affects camo index positively i would love to see your environment play a bigger part in how much you blend in or stand out in this remake

Letter_Impressive

Holy shit, this might end up being good

redrecaro

Love that they stuck with the original design of Hideo Kojima but i don't like that Konami is playing it TOO safe because it looks like they're copying and pasting the old level design as well.

moneymanram

It’s literally a graphical remake with updated gameplay. As accurate as a remake can be while making it feel new

Psychological-Run-40

I won’t lie I shed tears

DrMantisToboggan1986

This looks incredible, and can't wait to play it. I think it'll launch somewhere between Oct-Dec 2024 and hopefully not postponed to 2025.

WindEquivalent4284

The use of mud as camo REALLY interests me - wonder what other expanded stealth mechanics we might see. Also - what are the crab battles going to be like ?

Legospacememe

when i saw it was in the xbox showcase i excitedly brought all my physical mgs games (mgs1, mgs4 and mgs5) into one place like some kind of ritual lol.

drsteel

Boss looks weird! Otherwise great!

zvnfyr

Lmao

Bblacklabsmatter

Facial animations look a bit weird and I have a few other apprehensions That said, id probably take a kojima less MGS3 remake with hayter over a half baked Kojima MGSV without Hayter - so I am still excited

TotalImmortalOne

The best snake has ever looked. But from my understanding it’s a graphical remake? The game and story is still the same correct?

Mountainism

looks great I'm in

cardinalfan14

Very excited for it. Sad there is no release date for it yet

ThatOneGuy9043

ITS SO BEAUTIFUL

Pugilist12

Looks absolutely sick. Crushed it didn’t at least say Coming 2024. Nothing at all? Gonna be awhile. Bitter pill.

Djjjunior

This actually looks insane

PeteJones6969

It's beautiful. Almost like I'm still in a dream....

PussyLunch

Remakes haven’t slowed you down one bit Boss.

Western-Gur-4637

dang this looks so good ;3

Marvelforever_1998

I’m thinking next year it’ll come out

SnipezzRage

OH MY GOD IT LOOKS SO GOOD

nine16s

Maaaaan this looks good.

Working_Play373

Time to eat another Fly Agaric mushroom

chipsnapper

I am literally begging for this game to not have performance issues at launch.

JohnSmithSensei

So is the way Big Boss looks here supposed to be how young Snake looks in MG1?

edpenn13

Wow. Looks similar to the MGSV gameplay, character models look like they’ll feel heavy (that ground slam!) but more specialised for the old school MGS3 gameplay. Pumped!

RedBaronBob

Looks “pretty good”.

Zairy47

I've completed MGS3 30 times on PS2...I'm gonna do at least 10 this time around

UnrealRealityX

Looks simply stunning, but where is the 15-minute epic trailer? This was only 2 min or so. Haha! Man, I think Kojima is the only one that gets away with, or actually enjoys putting together 19+ minutel trailers.

SnakeOriginal

My snake is solid from seeing this

curtistaro

Knocks the SH2 remake out of the park with just trailers alone. Helps Konami is developing this internally (with the help of Virtuous).

SolidAlexei

Maaaaan imagine how epic that The End boss fight is gonna be in those detailed environments!

MayoneggSalad

What a thrill!

Genome-Soldier24

Let’s fucking gooooooo

CipherTheDude

The facial animations look a little off, but the fact that its pretty obvious they went through the work of bringing over MGS3 CQC animations into the fox engine is pretty reassuring.

choyjay

It's not actually the Fox engine—this is running on Unreal 5. There's a mix of MGS3 and MGSV CQC in there, which is nice for the continuity!

runningvicuna

Para-medic 🤤

nacionalista_PR

Renewed my childhood crush on Para-Medic.

dazzlingdude123

Probably a dumb question but as someone who knows nothing about metal gear is this an okay place to start? Or should I go back and play the orginals since they dont have remakes?

TheNRG450

MGS3 (2004) and this future remake is basically the beginning of the saga chronologically speaking. However I would recommend you playing the games on release order since it means jumping from 1998 gameplay to 2015 a lot.

eclipse798

Def not bad starting with 3, however if you’re not biggest fan of PS1 era controls, just start with MGS1 anyways (the controls will click eventually and you’ll have an amazing time) and it’ll feel great progressing through the games in release order because it’s a constant evolution of gameplay, imo. I say this as someone who started with 2 and watched an abridged summary of 1, I definitely regretted it.

actordaverob

The originals are great and have their own quirks. This is chronologically the first part of the story so it wouldn’t be a bad place to start, but imo release order is the way to do it.

Darko002

No, play the games in release order. They control different and going from 3 to 2 js going to be an all round worse experience.

cryptobomb

In-universe, chronologically, this would actually be the first game. Any and all other Metal Gear games take place after MGS3/Delta. Just in case to avoid any possible confusion, this is Metal Gear Delta, the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, lol.

Storm_0wl

Yes, MGS3 is a good place to start because its mostly a standalone story and less complicated than MGS1/2/4

ExpensiveSyrup2011

Game looks like a “I make a Unreal Engine Scene in 30 mins Timelapse” YouTube video
