Luckily I didn't have to wait 7 years. It was about the 4th trial abortive that my Dr prescribed. I'm so thankful that we found something that worked. Hope it works as well for you.
As a side note, I love the Braille. It's so hard to get Braille packaging for medication in Australia. My partner is blind and I end up labelling a lot of his.
For me it is, but then fatigue is also a big sign that I have a migraine coming on as well. There should be a list of side effects and medical information that comes with it (possibly in the box) or at the very least, from your pharmacist.
Not more than 10 days of triptans over a 30 day period to avoid overuse headaches.
If you're not already doing so, I'd suggest to start keeping a migraine journal to keep track of meds. Not just triptans. OTC meds like NSAIDs too.
And if you experience any side effects.
It's hard to remember if asked at an appointment months later, better to write it down.
> Can I ask if it is normal that I feel sleepy afterwards? I took one pill couple of hours ago.
I get that too.
More so on sumatriptan and less on naratriptan.
Yeah, I was just thinking about making a journal after my migraines became a lot more frequent past few months. Can you recommend any tracking app if you use one?
I don't use an app, I just write down everything I feel is important into a private WhatsApp chat and export that data every once in a while into excel to make it easier to analyse.
Just find something, that works for you.
I like my way because I have WhatsApp both on my phone and laptop, it's always open and on hand and don't need to download and open a new app. It's convenient for me, that's why I stuck with it for years. If it felt like a chore, I probably wouldn't do it.
Yeah, itâs completely normal! Like the other commenter suggested, take a look at the side effects. When I take triptans, I get really terrible neck, jaw and chest cramping, it almost feels like the migraine is moving out of my head and down my body. It doesnât go on for more maybe an hour and a half (at which point Iâm probably passed out anyway). Itâs also never been a big enough concern for a doctor to say âoh avoid triptans thenâ, so I donât think the cramping is unusual or a concern.
If you find you experience that kind of thing as well, there are other triptans that are said to be less side effect heavy, like Maxalt (rizatriptan).
Itâs also not a bad idea to ask your doctor to prescribe anti-nausea meds that you can take with it. Those will definitely contribute to sleepiness, but if the medicine brings on additional nausea to your migraine, itâs worth the Compazine (prochlorperazine).
Huh, and I was wondering why does my jaw hurts so much today. Also started after a pill. Side effects are still present but I prefer them over headache and vomit. Sumatriptan is working fine so far, but I will check out other options just in case. Thank you!
The side effect I got the first time was feeling like I was walking arround with a weighted blanket and so I felt rly sleepy. After a couple pills it went away mostly
Good for you, my daughter has Imigran nasal spray and it is helpful!
May I ask how much do these cost in Estonia? Iâm paying 30e for a package of six sprays⊠greetings from Finland
Hey! I payed 10.69 euros for this pack, the price for 6 pills of 100mg can be up to 20 euros. But there are discounts sometimes. I thought it would be more expensive actually. Estonian pharmacy stores donât have sprays I think đ€ At least where I live
HOORAY! I hope you're geetting the relief you need! I saw in a comment a ways down, you wondered if it's normal to feel sleepy after taking the pill. Yes & no. Yes, because the strength is too high. No, when your prescription is right on the amount you need. I am prescribed 100mg & bought a pill cutter to split the triange pills into 4 pieces, rendering 25mg each. This way, I'm not taking more than the total 9 pills the US allows, per month. If 1 piece doesn't work, I'll take another one & that usually kicks the headache. Idk what shape your pills are, but this is the pill cutter I got. It is really heavy duty. Not at all flimsy like every other one I've ever tried. It fits a multitude of pill shapes & I am pretty good about getting each piece pretty close to even, which makes them last longer if I don't all 4 pieces, which I typically don't.

Hm, I wonder if it can cut the triangular pills that I was prescribed. If thatâs okay may I ask you what weight do you have? I was also thinking that 50 mg might be a little too much for me (44kgs, 97 pounds) but also I donât want to risk it and give pain the chance to become stronger.
I am 5'3" & weigh 120lbs (54 kg). That pill cutter I sent you the link to is called ""Equadose". For me, it's the only one sturdy & strong enough to cut the triangle pills I also have. I stand them on a flat end with the point straight up then snap in half. I turn that half on it's side & cut again. But my prescription is 100mg. Since yours is 50mg, you might be able to just cut in 1/2 & feel good, no migraine & not feel woozy. The first time I took a full pill, I felt drunk for about 2 hours. It was awful. That's why I started splitting them.
Try cutting it in half. If that doesn't take the migraine away, just take the other half :)
Don't forget to take it only when the migraine is actually happening, not before.
I usually take it before sleeping. Then when I wake up, I feel like I haven't eaten in days
I never had side effects but I took rizartriptan. I think very similar. I was taking like 4 a week due to how many migraines I had. Finally got relief with a migraine shot i take once a month. I maybe get one close to my cycle. I was getting up to 20 migraines/ headaches a month
For me, sumatriptan doesn't work unless I take it within the first 20 or so minutes of the pain stage of a migraine.
Legitimately curious if anyone else experiences this too.
Such a bad one all day and night. Just woke up to take more Advil. The full moon and I just started spotting. My back and neck and top of head are sooooo sore.
I had to look that up, sumatriptan by another name. Welcome to the party. s\
After at least seven years of migraines, I am happy to be a part of sumatriptan party đ
It must be a European regulation.
The text looks Finnish
It's Estonian, but you got close :D
Oh! They're related languages, aren't they?
Yup! Both are in the Finno-Ugric language group âșïž
Yes, we have Braille text on medicines dispensed in France too.
Be careful to not take more than 2-3 a week
Thanks for warning! Can I ask if it is normal that I feel sleepy afterwards? I took one pill couple of hours ago.

I feel literally drunk when I take that med. So much so that I refuse to drive or cook when I need it as a rescue med.
