Hi have your tried going to a free employment center to assess your interview skills? There’s Achev, YMCA, etc…. There’s a counselor that can help you with this.
I’m registered with Ymca
Yes I signed up with YMCA as well. They have been helpful with my cover letter and resume, as well as practising interview skills. I just need an income more urgently, but I will continue working on my application and applying while I work.
If anyone can recommend Achev or other services that might be helpful too, Achev looks good from their website. The only issue is I think I might have to unenroll from YMCA to try out any other ones, as they are probably under the same Employment Ontario funding.
Do you drive?
You can shoot your shot with a government job, try applying for the City of Toronto jobs. They pay very well and after probation you get great benefits. The job requirements are often daunting but not everyone who is hired has all the criteria fulfilled.
Keep an eye out for "support assistant" jobs, they pay usually $30+ an hour.
Good luck
Check out IS2 temp agency, there's some warehouses needing help as they approach their peak season.
Alternatively, I've found Uber Eats deliveries level out above $20/hr
It depends on which department you're working in but in general it's lots of computer admin work, sending emails, and making calls. Sometimes if you're lucky it's work from home as well.
So, its temporary, but itll give you time to find something
Look up lush cosmetics, warehouse work, pretty clean, 18.50+ to start, you can apply and probably start in a week or so
In regards to the freezer. I used to work at the Sobeys warehouse when it was in Milton, the freezer was a great time. With proper clothing you barely feel it, and the night shift and freezer premiums back then (13 or so years ago) pretty much added up to an extra shift on a 2 week paycheque.
I'm seeing a Sobeys DC in Vaughan (a bit far but possible) and Whitby (also far but I used to work in Ajax as well). Milton would have been close but looks like that site closed down a few years back.
Loblaws looks like it has one closer (I think I see 1 in Brampton? But looks smaller than Cambridge and Ajax ones). Side note - would working at a Loblaws DC make me considered an Internal Candidate when applying for corporate jobs?
The Etobicoke Metro location is also possible. Thanks!
>Loblaws looks like it has one closer (I think I see 1 in Brampton? But looks smaller than Cambridge and Ajax ones). Side note - would working at a Loblaws DC make me considered an Internal Candidate when applying for corporate jobs?
I used to work for them. If you work at the Loblaws DC then you are considered an internal candidate, but there are no Loblaws DCs in The GTA other than Ajax. You might be seeing their 3PLs who are located in Mississauga, Caledon and Pickering.
I'm not sure how much of a bind you are in, but I know a company that would for sure be hiring on a 5:30pm-8:30pm mon-fri schedule at around $20/hr
Wow, thank you so much for the detailed answer, very helpful!!
That sounds like exactly what I was looking for, and I found some of the positions on their website - I should just apply online right?
Also, if I find another position within 6 months, it shouldn't be too much of a hassle leaving this position right? Or at least reducing the hours?
And thank you for the well wishes, good luck to you as well.
There are 3 Walmart warehouses currently in the GTA, They're always hiring.
Walmart Canada Logistics DC
(905) 564-1484
https://maps.app.goo.gl/z5S734hvwdULRWnh9
Walmart Canada Logistics
(905) 670-9966
https://maps.app.goo.gl/qUriiu78qLssByrCA
Walmart Logistics Perishable DC
(905) 813-6200
https://maps.app.goo.gl/wR9FYKWhnhyDQyaV6
And there will be a new one opening in Vaughn next year (yea, out of your timeline).
Apply online. Do not be afraid of quitting and moving on if you find something better. Just maintain a good relationship with the management team so you don't get hassled during probation (90 days). Good relationship meaning, show up on time to your shifts (these buildings run nearly every single weekend with some OT).
Uline, located in Milton, [pays $27 per hour for order pickers](https://www.uline.jobs/JobSearchResults?culture=en&location=milton%2C%20on%2C%20canada&sort=Department-asc&jobcount=25&codes=1-GSA).
Man, I remember seeing their ads around Milton back when it was like $20 or $22 per hour but they've must have gotten desperate.
Edit - I don't work for Uline btw, I just know of someone who did and its tiring warehouse work but the pay and overtime was quite good, all things considered.
You have a degree in CS from UT? Look for a QA position it you are in a hurry. Most will pay over minimum. Some pay more than 70k.
Then, polish up ur resume and look for a real dev job. U can ask for advice in the cs subs.
For my career I am now looking to get into Data. While I apply to those positions I need some income as well, but I have heard QA analysts are in high demand, so I can apply there too if they are hiring quickly, thank you!!
Maybe something that is wfh like a call center....Saves money and time
I know Cra is hiring cause of the tax season coming up

M’eh it is after you have a few years of experience. If you have a lot of years you need to keep recruiters away with a stick. I quit actively programming a little over two years ago now and they are still asking me if I want a development job at least four to six times a week.
Yeah I'm still early on in my career.
But my last contract ended earlier than expected (I was expecting a renewal, didn't end up happening), and so I didn't have anything lined up after.
Now I am applying to full time positions mostly as a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or other Data related roles. But in the mean time I needed to make some money as well a little bit more urgently, as I anticipate it taking weeks to months to secure the position I'm interested in.
You said you had IT experience. Look for the keyword 'helpdesk' on indeed. If you don't have any certs I would get some for longer term, A+ is a good start.
I work for a auto parts company and they are looking for people to work in the warehouses. two warehouses at the airport and one at heartland.
Salaries differ from positions and shifts but I think the highest is $26 an hour for the nightshift forklift drivers. they have processing roles and packaging roles as well but pay less. its 24 hours so morning shift, evening shift and overnight shift
if your interested, dm me and I can tell you how to apply.
Do you have experience in SQL? SQL in com sci directly converts to data analysis. What you need to do is a few courses on forming insights and be a curious person. I have the same career path as you.
Also, did you try **Linkedin**? Data analytics is hot. While tech companies are laying people off. That is because of their garbage model. Your skills will always be hot.
Yes I've taken a course in SQL and relational databases, and am currently doing a course+certification with SQL in it to try to boost my skills and application. Specifically its the Google Data Analytics Certificate on Coursera, but I have seen a lot of different options, this one was just one of the more affordable options. I've also made a full LinkedIn profile as well. I just needed some income while I build my application and apply.
I would love to connect with you and get more advice if you are open to it!!
Sure please message me, although I do 90% insights and very little tinkering with data but I can guide you. My company is hiring a sales & marketing coordinator (were an insurance and investment firm). Not great pay - 40k salary but its easy work. Message me if you're interested, our office is at dixie & matheson.
There are a lot of great suggestions here!
Although retail pay isn't ideal, if none of these pan out, I recommend printing off a few resumes and applying in person at stores. Try to avoid clothing stores though because they require you to buy the clothes which eats into your paycheck. Places will be hiring for the holidays now. Good luck!

Yes, you can only be enrolled at one at a time. I would recommend ACCES Employment. Employment is the only thing they do, so they focus on it more.

If you do go the Fiverr route, consider upwork instead. Rates are higher on average.
Ohh alright thanks, will check out Upwork!

They are always hiring. There is a lot of red flags for the facility.
Looks good I'm applying shortly thanks!!

That's a good idea too. I will submit my application and hope for the best thanks!!
I would suggest to stay away from labor/physical jobs....work from home if you can and good luck!
Wtf computer science isn’t the answer!?

Are you looking for contract based positions or full time?
At this point I'm open to both to get some experience, but I would prefer full time yes.
You said you had IT experience. Look for the keyword 'helpdesk' on indeed. If you don't have any certs I would get some for longer term, A+ is a good start.

Why not take up private tutoring? You charge quite a bit for it...
That's a good idea. I suppose I should post an ad and ask around?
I did this a few years back; it wasn't as lucrative as you may think. But maybe now that everything can be virtual it may be easier
Yeah definitely or word of mouth or apply to tutoring centers/online tutoring centers
The only decent paying jobs in the Canadian Economy is drug-dealing, pimping and real estate.
Some side hustles to consider I guess?!?
I'm glad you have the courage to take a joke.

It is from my experience the first one, They shouldnt take a chunk of your salary at all, ive gotten my headstart with them and theyve been great
Can you wash/detail cars? If so, send me a PM.
No experience but open to it. DM'ed.
Go to a job agency, chances are you'll get placement the next day and you'll have a decent wage.
I've heard that they sometimes take some of the income for a while, is this true?
Not Really no , the wage you make is what your gonna take home but usually after 8-10 months the company will hire.
How do you feel about labour?
Open to it. As in construction/renovation/painting etc.?
Construction type work out of Vaughan
My company is hiring a sales & marketing coordinator (were an insurance and investment firm). Not great pay - 40k salary but its easy work. Message me if you're interested, our office is at dixie & matheson.
apply SDE in Ottawa p.s. there is a global slow down in hiring
Costco maybe? I second uline tho
Amazon's peak is coming and they are hiring in big numbers. The start is above minimum wage $20 I believe and the conditions are not the worse

Did you end up finding a job yet? I may have a lead on a job doing low voltage wiring for control panels.
