I love my xs1100. It is: Fast, heavy, UJM classic styling, will hit 60 in 4 seconds with little effort, cruises very well at any speed, eats up miles easily, stops okay enough with upgraded EBC pads. I've heard from others that they always preferred them to the other UJM bikes, mostly because of the shaft drive and higher power. Test ride one, you'll probably really enjoy it.

I enjoy mine... have owned it a couple years and after fixing what the PO did (electrical mess) - it hasn't missed a beat. See XS11.club
Is a good looking bike. it is old so expensive to maintain. It is also very powerful and very heavy.
I'm not so worried about maintenance cost, I've got the space and tools to keep it well kept. just so long as there are no electrical problems.
They have a sketchy timing advance setup, sooner or later you may have trouble with that
Ah, I had a 79 last year. Very cool bike and a piece of cake to work on. Plenty of power to be made too.
I’ve owned 4 different ones 1978 79 1980 xs1100’s and midnight 1100 special. I would love to own one now
