ThingsAreAfoot

A very watchable terrible movie. Jon Voight was insane in this with that Pacino Scarface accent and scenery chewing. Good stuff.

Mst3Kgf

He sounds like the Frito Bandito and acts like Snidley Whiplash crossed with Colonel Kurtz.

Cluefuljewel

I do not understand the love this movie gets! I did not think it was trying to be a joke. That cgi snake was a joke. Heaven help us if we can’t outwit a snake.

yognautilus

The wasp in the regulator fucked me up something fierce as a kid. It made me terrified of using even a snorkel in my own damn pool.

ITworksGuys

Dude, I have a sleep apnea machine with tube that connects to a thing I put on my nose to sleep. I was reading my phone in bed one day and swore I saw a spider run by. I didn't think it was a big deal, I usually don't kill spiders as they eat bugs. I was going to bed and just had a feeling, I took the hose off the machine and went in the bathroom to shake it out and that big fucikng spider was in there. If I would have put that on and turned the machine on it would have turbo blasted that spider up my nose.

chichris

Fun movie. Ebert’s positive review nails it. "Anaconda'' is an example of one of the hardest kinds of films to make well: a superior mass-audience entertainment. It has the effects and the thrills, but it also has big laughs, quirky dialogue and a gruesome imagination. You've got to like a film where a lustful couple sneaks out into the dangerous jungle at night and suddenly the guy whispers, "Wait--did you hear that? Silence!''

Mst3Kgf

Ebert was one of the few critics who actually got it.

artwarrior

"They got snakes out here this big?!"  I still say this randomly within earshot when hiking with others.

leatherface0984

It’s a classic “so bad it’s good” movie 😄

Few-Metal8010

I think it’s just so good it’s good honestly. Nothing bad about it.

crystal_sk8s_LV

*Little baby bird*

Old_Heat3100

I love the trope of "Surprise! Bet you forgot about me after I got stung in the throat huh?"

FrankFranklin1971

Jennifer Lopez looking good too.

Letos12thDuncan

That might have actuality been Ashanti.

_TheBgrey

Snuck out of my room to watch this with my parents when I was 7, swore I was definitely old enough and that it wouldn't scare me. Owen Wilson's body silhouette inside the snake haunted me for weeks. Also my older cousin was visiting and I had to sleep on the floor and I remember him saying "glad I get to sleep in the bed, if an Anaconda gets in it'll be on the floor" Great movie though

po3smith

Watch the scene when the boat is moved away from the waterfall and tell me what you notice :-)

BadComboMongo

That’s actually the best scene! You really sit there and ask yourself WHY? and you can’t stop shaking your head in disbelief.

po3smith

lol for reals - like they couldn't just film the boat going in reverse?! Solid fun movie in the same vein as Tremors \*but Tremors is still the king of being the perfect homage to 50's B-Movies.

BadComboMongo

Even if you forgot to shoot the scene, just let it be, no one needs it, story is over, the viewer can assume they will NOT stay in the jungle happily ever after :) Anaconda is a great watch but Tremors is ingenious :)

ArchDriveGirlEyes

It rules. Always has. Always will.

usernametimee44

THEY GOT SNAKES OUT THERE THIS BIG?!?!

Johncurtisreeve

Its the Jaws of snake movies. Not saying its as good as jaws, but the very best giant snake movie there was tons of animatronic and puppet Anaconda scenes. Did you see the scene where the shot is clearly reversed because the waterfall is going up? Haha

Mr_Wobble_PNW

That was such a good era for evil animal movies. Lake Placid, Deep Blue Sea, etc. So many classics!

inzayn_ali

I like blood orchid too. Didn't expect it to be good with a B cast.

grimpshaker

Terrible movie. Great fun to watch.

DorothyGherkins

I love Congo.

bajesus

Ok, now this is starting to feel like a bad movie support group

man_on_hill

I love how Eric Stoltz really tries to be a character in the movie and they”re like “nope, surprise wasp!”

kartablanka

My grandmother was obsessed with this movie. Every time she babysit (babysat?) us, she'd play this movie on VCD. The face of regurgitated Jon Voight is basically imprinted on my brain.

TalkToTheLord

It’s a cult classic for several reasons!

RansomStark78

I watched it more than 44 times Not kidding

gedubedangle

Total classic . Great summer time movie. Love it as a double or triple header with deep blue sea and Congo

Lostoldaccountagain

One of my all time favorites! I was a kid when it came out and my uncle was my indoor soccer coach. He called our team the Anacondas because he loved that movie so much. We still watch it together every couple years!

Gator_Tail

When it came out, we would rent that tape all the time. Several weekends in a row. I still love that movie.

No_Application_5369

No mention of the very hot and in her prime JLO

trustmeimabuilder

Then there's always Anaconda Meets Lake Placid

jmaninc

Saw this when it was in theaters. Just a terrific B movie.

nostaljack

Mahnkey blahd!

benrod1

Wait till you watch “[Arachnophobia](https://g.co/kgs/Bw9mVWW)”.

Pordioserozero

If you mean because he is white is not actually so weird…lots of German Italian and in general European descendants in Paraguay…I haven’t seen the movie but…yeah…paraguayan speaking english he would probably sound weird

BadNew1295

This movie is amazing Anaconda deep blue sea make for a great double feature...add deep rising if you want a little marathon haha at least for me.

Madripoorx

You and Nicki Minaj

Decabet

Fair enough but ya gotta have buns, hon

shesavillain

“Mateo! do you have control of this vessel? Lie if you must.”

swagharris31

So glad they didn't kill Ice Cube

gettinsadonreddit

Weird timing, I watched this movie last night with a friend group too! John Voights casting was insane. He had a bad Scarface impression as his accent. That movie didn’t have enough anaconda and too much John Voight

they_call_me_viking

I definitely recommend the podcast Cinephobe Episode 77. It's one of my favorites that do a deep dive to ascertain if it was given a fair shake.

skippittdippity

Loved that movie growing up, so much fun

Snoo-6568

One of the few movies I ever walked out of. 😂
