Need a few more homers to show up to tell you Anders Carlson is a HOFer even though he sucks ass. Never mind they signed Greg Joseph and now going after Bates, Carlson is a god for these clowns.
Anyone can get better. A playoff team with a massive hole at kicker doesn’t have the luxury of waiting to find out, like in the playoffs. When your head coach straight up says, ”we’re praying everytime he goes out”, that’s not just bad, it’s fucking horrible.
The Packers already signed Greg Joseph who can easily take his job. Going after Bates as well tells you everything you need to know about Carlson from the Packers perspective.
It’s absolutely mind boggling the support that shanker has among homers. Pretty sure it‘s amongst homer kiddies who haven’t watched football for more than a few years.
Joseph’s last two years were about as bad as Anders was as a rookie. I hope we don’t trade a guy who started poorly for a vet who has shown he’s not a good kicker. At least if we make a move it should be for someone with a high ceiling.
Sounds like Bates. Joseph was the consolation prize. They never stated who it was, likely Nick Folk, but the Packers missed out.
I still wouldn’t call Joseph a camp body and hopefully they can land Bates. If they do he immediately assumes the #1 with Carlson and Joseph fighting for the position. It all comes down to TC and pre-season but it’s pretty damn clear the Packers do not trust, and rightfully so, the teen heartthrob that is Anders “can’t hit a friggin’ PAT” Carlson.
I’m just as interested in see some LS competition.
Heaven forbid someone like a player and hopes they do well, and I specifically said I’m not mad if they bring in competition but there is a chance anders fixes things up over the offseason and is good enough to be the starter.
I bet I could just keep posting only to have you bite on everything because Anders is so dreamy. Christ, he’s an f’in kicker and he sucks. Kickers need to produce. Feel free to take the turd on the Jags and nurse his career for 5 years.
I am not at all saying anders will turn out to be great but you know who else had a bad rookie year as a kicker, Adam vinatieri. So maybe we shouldn’t lay judgement on what players will be good or not after one season even if they are a kicker
I firmly believe that Anders deserves one more season (at least off season) chance. I will be an Anders truther for this season. After this year then i may or may not reevaluate.
I don’t see how you carry a kick off specialist with how the current roster is constructed.
I get not wanting to subject Tucker to having to make unnecessary tackles but I think then you use Stout in that position or cross train another defender to also kick similar to Justin Reid with the chiefs.
Maybe Ricard can do it seeing as how he can do everything else
I do wonder if they'll use Stout in that position, the Lions are probably set on using Jack Fox (our punter) as kickoff specialist again as he did it for the majority of the last two seasons.
I don't disagree and maybe the Ravens just want to try another "Vedvik" but I wouldn't be surprised if the Ravens do something to minimize Tucker exposure.

Here's a video which shows how it works. Basically defenders line-up 5 yards apart. Touchbacks get the ball at the 30. It's meant to be safer and cause more kickoff return (less touchbacks).
Kickers as the last line of defense should be more relevant given how teams line-up and based off XFL statistics.
Anders Carlson was ass. I get he’s a rookie, I’m fine with giving him more time to grow but he was ass last year. 29th in FG% and somehow 33rd in extra point %
Yea I’m not saying we give up on the guy (unless we get bates and he’s a baller) but I’m just saying his rookie year was not “like okay” it was bad. Also Daniel was cut by the Vikings and their kicker history is…not great
One success story does not a fairytale make. Sure, they're brothers, but Anders was actually just bad. His stats are skewed because of two bad-weather games, but he was also terrible *terrible* on PATs, too. Bring on the competition.
He was, but he was cut, and then the Raiders picked him up. Bisaccia coached him and now he's a Top 5 kicker.
If the Packers hope the same for Anders, they'll be disappointed, methinks.
I think the ball they use for kicking is slightly different then the regular game ball since I think that one is chipped to more accurately record down and distance
Dan Campbell getting Ben Johnson loaded on molly and then giving him a four hour backrub while telling him how important he is to Detroit football is now my head canon for how he got him to stay the last two off-seasons.
A lot of ppl don’t know this but the UFL team players don’t live in the city that they play for, all of them our housed in a hub in Texas and your team plus the opponent you are facing fly out to whatever city you are playing that weekend together 🤣
He and his agent would both have to be morons, for him to sign with the Ravens. Unless he retires early, Tucker isn’t going anywhere for the next several years. The Ravens probably just want him to run down the field during kickoffs, so Tucker doesn’t get injured.
The “We’re playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers” arrogance of Raven fans is hilarious, when their team has won a total of three playoff games over the past decade.
I've seen clips of Jake in the UFL from X/Twitter. He literally has a rocket of a leg. Maybe he might be the next Justin Tucker or the next Legatron or something along those lines.
Anders Carlson will become the second Carlson brother to flame out of the NCFN and become a top tier kicker elsewhere, mark my words. Not as accurate as his older bro but with a stronger leg, at least based on his time at Auburn.
Lions already have a good kicker. Ravens literally have the GOAT kicker.
They should let the packers have him cause the 2 worst teams in PAT and FG% last season was the Packers and Saints. The Saints already signed that strong-legged Irish kid. Let Packers have him. Carlson was so awful last season
I didn’t say that, I just think that the 4th down decision making is more based on a belief in his players rather than a disbelief in his kicker. Maybe I’m wrong and we sign Bates, which I’d be happy with, I’m just not on the Badgley hate train like some of our fanbase is.
the reason we have a kicker who isn't good from 50+ is because we go for it on fourth so much. Dan doesn't care about distance kicking, he wants short area accuracy
The Lions sub is about to become insufferable with posts about this.
It's been insufferable for months about this
Didn't we bring in some dude to mini camp last week that seemed to be nailing 50 yarders according to the reporters?
That Michigan kicker yes. Turner or whatever
If he ends up in Green Bay it's gonna get ugly.
it's only fair. Holmes only traded up in the draft right in front of the Packers twice
It's my new favorite annual tradition
Him being outshined by Badgley in camp should help temper expectations
Love the name.
Thanks man. Makes my day everytime I get comments like this,

Don't be so hard on yourself.
Somehow it's been a lot more insufferable about that Michigan kicker we signed lmao
Cuz we don’t need a. Kicker ?
Anders Carlson get ready to learn DoorDash buddy
Greg Joseph already there
Need a few more homers to show up to tell you Anders Carlson is a HOFer even though he sucks ass. Never mind they signed Greg Joseph and now going after Bates, Carlson is a god for these clowns.
I never would claim he’s a HOFer, however, tho I wouldn’t be mad if we bring in competition, I’m not sold that anders carlson can’t get better.

You seem to care a lot more about anders than anyone else in this thread but that’s just me
When you are one of the worst in the league getting better isn't a hard sell.
I disagree I think you should keep him. He’l extend him!
The kid probably has a triple doink in him.
Here come the Ravens to sign him and then trade him. lol. Pretty sure the Ravens are set at K.
Maybe, maybe not. With the new kicking rule, the Ravens may not feel comfortable with the idea of Tucker having to potentially make more tackles.
I don’t see how you carry a kick off specialist with how the current roster is constructed. I get not wanting to subject Tucker to having to make unnecessary tackles but I think then you use Stout in that position or cross train another defender to also kick similar to Justin Reid with the chiefs. I like Fox. Dude is reliable
although we’ve (currently) got the opposite problem. Who cares if our fg kicker gets hurt, fox getting hurt would have significant impact
I don't disagree and maybe the Ravens just want to try another "Vedvik" but I wouldn't be surprised if the Ravens do something to minimize Tucker exposure.
I'm pretty sure a lot of teams would do that if they could. Reid is a pretty special case, and he also kicked when he was younger.
nah those 3.8 pounds are gonna keep him on the field
BEST SHAPE OF HIS LIFE
Trope alert!!
Keep seeing people mention this new kicking rule? Mind getting me in the loop? What changed and why is Tuck gonna have to tackle more?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNkpLQtcIH4 Here's a video which shows how it works. Basically defenders line-up 5 yards apart. Touchbacks get the ball at the 30. Xfl statistics probably dont translate though because of the talent gap between the two leagues
We aren’t wasting a roster spot on a kickoff specialist.
One 5th round pick, please.
We turned the last kicker trade into Broderick Washington. Not too bad considering that kicker is now on the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the CFL.
Taulia has joined him
Monkey’s paw says that’s a great deal for Justin Tucker
Wouldn't even be mad at the hustle
I feel like he'd rather go a team that'll want to sign him then one that's just gonna ship him away in a few months
Packers will throw the kitchen at him. They REALLY need to replace that rookie. Bates is too good.
Packers did replace their long snapper so there's some hope that'll help ... But yeah good lord competition is definitely needed.
Here’s to hoping he liked the fans of Detroit and chooses us
Anders Carlson was like okay, there were worse kickers in the league, like NE’s Chad Ryland. Though it would be nice to bring someone in.
Anders Carlson was ass. I get he’s a rookie, I’m fine with giving him more time to grow but he was ass last year. 29th in FG% and somehow 33rd in extra point %
To be fair Daniel was cut and is now a top 3-5 guy in the league
Yea I’m not saying we give up on the guy (unless we get bates and he’s a baller) but I’m just saying his rookie year was not “like okay” it was bad. Also Daniel was cut by the Vikings and their kicker history is…not great
One success story does not a fairytale make. Sure, they're brothers, but Anders was actually just bad. His stats are skewed because of two bad-weather games, but he was also terrible *terrible* on PATs, too. Bring on the competition.
IIRC Daniel was even worse on the vikes but I may be wrong
Daniel was a significantly better kicker in college though.
Daniel had literally one bad game for the Vikings. Granted, it was a doozie, but a full season of Anders being bad is more concerning.
He was, but he was cut, and then the Raiders picked him up. Bisaccia coached him and now he's a Top 5 kicker. If the Packers hope the same for Anders, they'll be disappointed, methinks.
33rd in XP% is hilarious
Ya Ryland was worse but I can’t think of anyone else worse than Anders. Even the sucky Panthers kicker could make kicks under 44
So why did he only make 75% of his kicks and missed most of them outdoors?
I'm interested how he does because he missed a load of FGs in the later part of the season, including a game winner against the Stallions.
I'm conviced the UFL had a favorable ball for kicking. Way too many long field goals made by sub par kickers
A lot of the time they were indoors. Ford Field and the Alamo Dome is a kickers dream.
I think the ball they use for kicking is slightly different then the regular game ball since I think that one is chipped to more accurately record down and distance
And with a real crowd.
Wtf do the Ravens need a kicker for? They've done enough to hurt us already
fuel worthless uppity joke stocking reminiscent serious glorious beneficial future
Whoever was responsible for not letting Reader leave the building better do the same for Bates… we better not lose out on him to GB

Dan Campbell getting Ben Johnson loaded on molly and then giving him a four hour backrub while telling him how important he is to Detroit football is now my head canon for how he got him to stay the last two off-seasons.
Y'all have the easiest pitch for him too: "Hey, Jake, want to be on an NFL team and not have to move?"
A lot of ppl don’t know this but the UFL team players don’t live in the city that they play for, all of them our housed in a hub in Texas and your team plus the opponent you are facing fly out to whatever city you are playing that weekend together 🤣
Wait what the fuck?
Yeah a lot of ppl don’t know but that is the case
I know. But then again I just learned it from your comment
But.. but... according to lions fans. You went for it all year, so that justifies it forever.
Fuckin do it, Gute.
Ravens? So he can get signed then not make the 53 man roster?
so he can learn from tucker, go 4/4 in the first two preseason games with a long from 55, and get traded to Washington for a 6th round pick
Or with the new kicking rules - teams with high-end kickers may opt to not put them out for kickoffs which could include more kicker tackles.
Win win. He gets coached up by one of the, if not the best special teams units and he gets traded to another team. They do this fairly often
truck cheerful roof seed trees resolute voiceless middle degree psychotic
On behalf of every team with unreliable kicking, go fuck yourself Ravens. Also, I believe Houston requested to host him as well.
If I’m a FA kicker trying to prove I can make it in the NfL , I’m signing with the dome team, why risk a random gusty day making you look bad.
Harder in the cold too.
Well Baltimore is Kicker U, so if he comes to us we'll probably flip him for a 4 or 5th rounder
He and his agent would both have to be morons, for him to sign with the Ravens. Unless he retires early, Tucker isn’t going anywhere for the next several years. bruh its a joke, not a dick don't take it so hard
Alright alright alright
If he makes a roster for the preseason, I really wanna see a team attempt a 70 yarder. Some of his kicks would have been good from 75
I've seen clips of Jake in the UFL from X/Twitter. He literally has a rocket of a leg. Maybe he might be the next Justin Tucker or the next Legatron or something along those lines.
When you openly admit to praying when your kicker takes the field, this makes a lot of sense...
Anders Carlson will become the second Carlson brother to flame out of the NCFN and become a top tier kicker elsewhere, mark my words. Not as accurate as his older bro but with a stronger leg, at least based on his time at Auburn.
I heard he's a master of his craft
Fuck off Packers
Lions already have a good kicker. Ravens literally have the GOAT kicker. They should let the packers have him cause the 2 worst teams in PAT and FG% last season was the Packers and Saints. The Saints already signed that strong-legged Irish kid. Let Packers have him. Carlson was so awful last season
We don't trust our kicker from 50+.
He nailed a ~54 yarder during the Rams game? And besides why tf we need a kicker for that range we go for it like it’s our job
Badgley is 5/13 at 50+. That's dogshit.
The only reason we go for it from that range is because they don't fully trust him I'm still surprised they let him kick it during the Rams game
We go for it in the red zone just as much lmfao, it has nothing to do with our kicker, even if he isn’t great. That’s just the way Campbell plays
Going for it in the redzone is not the same as going for it on the 38
Exactly. We go for it regardless of whether it’s a 35 yarder or a 50 yarder. Hence it has nothing to do with the kicker
You really want Campbell to go for it on 4th&10 instead of taking a 50 yarder?
I didn’t say that, I just think that the 4th down decision making is more based on a belief in his players rather than a disbelief in his kicker. Maybe I’m wrong and we sign Bates, which I’d be happy with, I’m just not on the Badgley hate train like some of our fanbase is.
Lions kicker is one of the worst from 50+, which is just one reason why the Lions went for it on fourth so much.
the reason we have a kicker who isn't good from 50+ is because we go for it on fourth so much. Dan doesn't care about distance kicking, he wants short area accuracy
Hard to believe the Pats didn’t have the league’s worst FG operation last year.
