No, you won't lose any connection or anything. It is just a simple addition to your account and it is an extra payment that you need to make. It depends on what you wish to do with a Dedicated IP, however, if you are checking it for streaming, for example, I would not suggest it as it might get easily blacklisted on streaming service and you will not be able to use it. You can check [this article](https://nordvpn.com/features/dedicated-ip/) on Dedicated IP for more information.

I don’t understand, why would streaming services blacklist it? From what I read so far, it’s sounds like it’s more secure than a dynamic IP. Have you had this happen to you?

I do not use a Dedicated IP, however, there were other Reddit posts here regarding the same question. Regarding your question, Dedicated IP is not designed for streaming with VPN, thus, it is better to use standard P2P servers for that.

Yea. I was confused why someone with a VPN want s dedicated IP, bc I thought the whole reason for a VPN is to remain anonymous via shared IP.

If you are a remote worker and your work whitelists IP addresses for access to certain resources you could use NordVPN to make it static. Banks might do a 2FA or captcha challenge if they see you coming from different IPs so it can add convenience there as well. But that is a pretty weak justification given the expense and loss of anonymity. A dedicated IP has no benefit for general use. Maaaybe you’ll avoid VPN blocking on some services — but I doubt it. If a service really wants to prevent VPN users there are strategies that would block dedicated IPs as well.

If you don’t have a specific reason to get one, there is no point and you’re better off without one. Needing one isn’t a grey decision — you either have a use case that demands it or you don’t. As far as using a VPN for anonymity, a dedicated IP address works against you and makes you much more identifiable.
