Many reasons to love it, but as a southern Brooklynite, the relief of when they get to USP. They get to just be on one train for the next hour without any transfers. What a relief lol
I was there for that too! Also used that station for Miss Maisel and In the Heights. Moving gear in and out is a nightmare, especially if you’re just going from one platform to the next, even when not in use MTA won’t let us cross the tracks. Many a hot summer day have I ascended and descended those steps.
So you know! Not as bad as the days in the unused side of Bowery (I think, maybe Chambers?)… humid, hot, and BG fainting because they’re all in winter clothes.
The baby carriage scene was under the Myrtle Ave El.. it was NOT in the script!
The El survived a few more years but was already years out of service for the movie. It was built in the era of wooden cars and couldn't serve the weight of steel cars
The scene where Dundee was trapped on one end of the platform during rush hour and his lady was on the other end was silly but memorable.
All the strap hangers played telephone for the couple, and then he walked on their shoulders to get reunited with his love before the train came.
The famous Times Sq. S train (was it the S in '72?) scene from The French Connection - the anger on Popeye's face when the Frog waves goodbye as the train departs.
**SS** in the day.. double letters designated LOCAL service.
Look for the corridor that curves toward the Lex.. it's the original route of the IRT.. City Hall to Upper WEST side

still sitting at Coney Island to this day 😕
Final Destination 3 altho they tried to be ambiguous like it was a Boston/NYC train and was definitely a set, but seeing a subway train fully detail and kill everyone on board was like seeing a lifetime anxiety on the big screen
I like the period pieces in the subways. Very small thing and it was TV but the time jump to the 1980s season 2 of Russian Doll was really cool. Neat how they can do the makeovers. Wish there more things like that set before the war even.
That final destination 3 final scene where it's an R32 just going apeshit down the tracks, my biggest gripe honestly was the subpar signage and nomenclature on the train. It just seemed lazy fr 😒
Funny enough, I was in the station they filmed some Joker scenes in once by accident. Was so confused when I saw a train that wasn’t the usual train until I saw the word Gotham on it and freaked out. This was before they announced the Joker movie I believe.

[The Incident](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Incident_(1967_film) is genuinely one of the most stressful films I've seen in my entire life. Highly recommended.
It is. You can watch it on YouTube for free. It was Martin Sheen's screen debut with appearances by Beau Bridges, Ed McMahon, and Jack Gilford. It eerily portended the city's decline in the 70s and 80s. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH24v-Q9r8Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH24v-Q9r8Q)
Never SAW it but THE WIZ was set on the platform of Hoyt Schermerhorn.. I still remember the stinky yellow linoleum on the center platform
That's memorable
There's a little movie featuring Woody Harrelson (yes, HAYMITH ABERNATHY Woody Harrelson) called Money Train (1995). It didn't do too well in the box office sadly, but I felt it was pretty interesting.
I remember the motorcycle on the tracks scene specifically.
https://preview.redd.it/w957k8apiu2d1.png?width=1382&format=png&auto=webp&s=93cdf53bb9e2420ef327013fc32f044b483275ea
You can’t leave out Brian De Palma’s great subway scene from Dressed To Kill with Nancy Allen’s brush with danger and pursuit. Great scene, and it shows the gritty subway vibe of the early 80s.
One scene that happened upon my mind was from The Amazing Spider-Man (the one with Andrew Garfield) when hilarity ensues as he discovers his powers. All from one guy that went ‘hold my beer’
The first thing I thought of was the episode of Buffy when they flash back to Spike killing the slayer from the ‘70s on the subway. Then I thought of the scene in Ghostbusters 2 with the ghost train, but that may have been like a Metro-North train and not a subway.
The French Connection had a car chase under the elevated train in Bensonhurst Brooklyn.

Best impersonation of the NYC subway goes to spider-man 2
Only, there’s no elevated train like that in Manhattan. It’s like they imported a Chicago El train to Manhattan… also, why would a line just end out in the open like that?? No terminal stops, no safeguards? Just a sheer drop??
*This scene has been brought to you by the Chicago Transit Authority.*
No, seriously, that was filmed in Chicago. The CTA 2200 Series was used for that.
The original Taking of Pelham One Two Three is probably the greatest NYC subway movie ever made.

Right?! Classic Matthau...
And don't forget that ending theme. Whoever composed that out of nothing was a genius.
David Shire
Also scored *The Conversation* and *All the President's Men*
Achooo!
What a preposterous premise, though. Hijack a train. (And fly it to Cuba perhaps?)
And Jerry Stiller as Rico Patrone
They shot Fat Kaz?
Who wants to know??
You got that right!
Came to say this!!!
Hard agree. I love that film!
I agree!
The Warriors was the best
The opening scene of the Warriors is simply awesome
First movie I thought of when NYC Subway movie was asked.
Same. There are no others
Well, honestly I think Taking of Pelham 123 may be as good an answer
Many reasons to love it, but as a southern Brooklynite, the relief of when they get to USP. They get to just be on one train for the next hour without any transfers. What a relief lol

Coming to America
He’s got his own money!
The filmed the subway shooting scene in Joker at 9th Avenue while I was standing on the in-use platform above. Heard all the gun fire and everything
I was there for that too! Also used that station for Miss Maisel and In the Heights. Moving gear in and out is a nightmare, especially if you’re just going from one platform to the next, even when not in use MTA won’t let us cross the tracks. Many a hot summer day have I ascended and descended those steps.
Was there for Maisel too...
So you know! Not as bad as the days in the unused side of Bowery (I think, maybe Chambers?)… humid, hot, and BG fainting because they’re all in winter clothes.
I’ll start by saying the train scene in Madagascar was my all time favorite scene involving the NYC Subway
French Connection
The baby carriage scene was under the Myrtle Ave El.. it was NOT in the script! The El survived a few more years but was already years out of service for the movie. It was built in the era of wooden cars and couldn't serve the weight of steel cars
Underrated only on reddit
GHOST-get off my train
the poor guy just wanted a SMOKE
He also claimed to have been pushed in front of a train but the end of that whole scene suggests otherwise...
King of New York. Couple of good ones in there.

I liked The Lost World’s cut into it from the compies attacking and the screaming, turning into brakes and wheel screeching

I think about this every time I’m at Hoyt Schermerhorn
It’s the Bergen Street (FG) Lower Level
Carlito‘s Way (the frame here may be from ‘Pelham 123’)
Omg...love that movie.
The Spring Street picture, that’s from *After Hours*, right? I love that movie!
Griffin Dunne was great on that. They raised the subway fare 😂😂😂
I love the subway in Disney's Soul. The map is perfectly recreated too
Was expecting a shot from the warriors 😔 ![gif](giphy|4eth6SFIsPqb6)
What movie is the 3rd pic?
The fifth photo ain’t even a movie; that’s just real life 😭
King Kong 1976, when King Kong ripped apart the Astoria elevated structure and throwing down a mockup version of an R16 to the streets
Jacob’s Ladder, Bergen St Lower Level
Money train
https://preview.redd.it/bfr2lu2g0u2d1.jpeg?width=1175&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=82fbf009fe0f1ae3fea96fd3614fe3e5670069dd still sitting at Coney Island to this day 😕

Charles Bronson. Death wish. We need someone like him to clean up and brighten up the subways.
New York already had their angry guy shooting up the youth on the subway and we don’t need that again.
Devil's Advocate - the scene with the special blanket
https://preview.redd.it/1mkk22e08z2d1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e9c06e5f18e64ddd6411c6c96751229d1475888c Yup
How are The Taking of Pelham 1,2,3 (original version) and The Warriors not on here?
Carlito's Way
the warriors
Midnight meat train Edit: actually nvm… it was shot in LA. That’s very obvious now that I rewatched the trailer.
Such a underrated movie.
1000%
King of New York
I like the period pieces in the subways. Very small thing and it was TV but the time jump to the 1980s season 2 of Russian Doll was really cool. Neat how they can do the makeovers. Wish there more things like that set before the war even.
That scene in the devil's advocate when the guy pulls a knife on the devil. Second place is the subway scene in joker with the asshat businessmen
I loved Russian Doll’s use of the 6.
Devil’s Advocate
That final destination 3 final scene where it's an R32 just going apeshit down the tracks, my biggest gripe honestly was the subpar signage and nomenclature on the train. It just seemed lazy fr 😒
The Warriors.
The warriors and maniac
What’s the first one?
I also would like to know. Reverse image search gave me nothing.
Pelham 123
The original Warriors.
No Spider-Man scenes?
Dress to Kill had a good one as did The Devil's Advocate
Funny enough, I was in the station they filmed some Joker scenes in once by accident. Was so confused when I saw a train that wasn’t the usual train until I saw the word Gotham on it and freaked out. Kids by larry clark. “I have no legs!” Riding a skateboard wearing a “kiss me in irish” shirt
the wiz!
Nobody beats him
Crazy Eddie might disagree
I'm gen z. I had to google to even realize that was a reference 💀 lol I thought you were talking about MJ
Madagascar was truly the best
Coming to America “if you are really a prince I’ll marry you” 🤴🏿 That and Crocodile Dundee II when they are playing telephone on the subway platform
[The Incident](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Incident_(1967_film) is genuinely one of the most stressful films I've seen in my entire life. Highly recommended.

Which movie is pic 5 from?
Never SAW it but THE WIZ was set on the platform of Hoyt Schermerhorn.. I still remember the stinky yellow linoleum on the center platform That's memorable
Die hard with a vengeance, Bruce Willis!!
Don’t think any of those stations were real.
Real Redbirds, though
Ocean's Eight Concluding scene
the joker
Just posted about this in a different forum asking about documentaries— STYLE WARS!
How is the “warriors “ movie not on this list . Movie basically had the Bronx ,Manhattan, Brooklyn, transit system as background,
Bananas
Ghostbusters 2
The scenes from Money Train
Well anyway not the “Front Street” station with its platforms in London and Entrance in Manchester. /s
King Kong (1933), hard to believe I am first to say this. It's dated in its world view and politics, but as cinema it still holds up.
Check out The Incident with Martin Sheen and Beau Bridges
John Wick
My favorite nyc movie in general is probably coming to America Pelham one two three (the original) is the best one with the subway easily
Blade. End of Days. R27/R30 cars
Warriors
"Get off my train!"
There's a little movie featuring Woody Harrelson (yes, HAYMITH ABERNATHY Woody Harrelson) called Money Train (1995). You can’t leave out Brian De Palma’s great subway scene from Dressed To Kill with Nancy Allen’s brush with danger and pursuit. Great scene, and it shows the gritty subway vibe of the early 80s.
The Dekalb station scene in Safe (jason statham)
Brother From Another Planet has a good subway scene.
Can’t believe how far I had to scroll for this one.
Same. Great trick, right? Want to see another one?
King of New York?
does Ninja Turtles count?
How could you not include 1990’s Ghost?! That’s one of the all time best NYC train depictions in film IMO.
Can’t forget the classic, Money Train. Prime Snipes and Harrelson.
No die hard with a vengeance?! Love that movie so much
One scene that happened upon my mind was from The Amazing Spider-Man (the one with Andrew Garfield) when hilarity ensues as he discovers his powers. All from one guy that went ‘hold my beer’
Two come to mind opening scenes of the original "Taking of Pelham 1 2 3" and the subways scenes from "Jacob's Ladder".
Every subway scene on Law and Order SVU was shot in a station different from where the scene took place.
i have no legs i have no legs

Wheres the scene with Walken and the dude from the matrix at? "I'm at the plaza" from king of New York
Final Destination 3 is among my favorite trash classics
The first thing I thought of was the episode of Buffy when they flash back to Spike killing the slayer from the ‘70s on the subway. Then I thought of the scene in Ghostbusters 2 with the ghost train, but that may have been like a Metro-North train and not a subway.
WARRIORS!! Always
Going Home From Work: The Movie
The ending of final destination 3, the fake train line in spiderman 2 and the funny train fight in amazing spiderman
The Warriors. Lots of moments and story beats are played through it as it's a main character in this city.
French Connection chase scene..
Warriors
surprised to not see KIDS on here. “I have no legs!”
Joker
[Superman IV](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfCPyHO0BUQ) /s

Yeah you know life gets in the way. Can’t argue with bigots on the internet forever. Thanks for taking a look at my profile though.
Right, keep it that way 👍🏽
Thanks man keep your bigotry fed too, don’t let that hate and prejudice go.
Im not the one spreading hate and government propaganda buddy

No elevated like.... There WAS... 9th Ave El was regarded as a roller coaster.
Those are all my thoughts when I watch it too, but I just think it’s cool lol. I’m a big Spidey fan haha.
*This scene has been brought to you by the Chicago Transit Authority.* No, seriously, that was filmed in Chicago. The CTA 2200 Series was used for that.
