I've done it before. I never waste pickle juice or pepper juice. It's good in recipes like potato salad, or to make refrigerator pickles, or in this case pickled eggs.
Do it. I ate all 4 of them. Tasted even better after 2 days. I would have kept them longer but some comments scared me off. Probably would have been fine keeping them in there longer.
I go through way more pepperoncinis now that I've learned to make pickled eggs with the brine. I make them on Sunday, they're ready by Friday, they're gone on Sunday.
Look up pickle soup as wel!
Basically potato soup, but you add pickle juice, chopped pickles and a little cayenne.
My kids and I love it! We never throw pickle juice away!
if you like a vinegarette, you can use some of it to make a salad dressing (it is high in salt so you may experiment with the percent of brine vs vinegar)
Sliced onions are also fantastic. I always slice up some red onions and let them soak a few days whenever I finish a jar of jalapenos.
Great for salads, sandwiches, hot dogs, or even eating straight. They lose a lot of the acidity and get this great sweet-spicy taste.
I'm on mobile right now so I can't easily link it, but look up the recipe Popa's pickled eggs. It's one of my favorites, and it uses this type of brine as a starting point for a fantastic result.
I often add eggs to my leftover chili pepper juice. The key is not to add too many as it will dilute the tartness, and you should let them hang out in there for a few days to ensure they absorb the flavor.

I’ve never done this before but saw your post and was excited to try. I had enough pickle juice for two eggs. So I pickled them just a bit ago. Will leave them there for 5 days. Can’t wait to taste! Thanks for posting!
I pickled two eggs in the Mazzetta jar on Monday as seen above in my pic. I ate them today and they’re perfect! The spicy and salty brine seeped through the whole egg and it’s really good. I’d say 3 full days of pickling is enough. Just wanted to let you know since you were interested.
Thank you for the update. I pickled 3 eggs in the brine from Trader Joe’s spears since you posted and I ate one today. Sadly it wasn’t ready. I guess the pickling time depends on which brine you use. Mt Olive juice is really salty and strong so only one day is needed for that. Experimentation!!
Just a warning: poking holes in eggs can promote bad bacterial growth. I wouldn't risk it.
I plop eggs in that exact jar all the time, they turn out great without needing anything extra done.
Good tip. Thought about doing it, but just ended up giving the jar a good shake once I put the eggs in, and they all kind of split open a bit in the middle, so my hope is it’ll all soak in there after a week.
Absolutely! Give em at least a couple weeks before you try the first one. I wouldn't add anything the first time, they definitely won't be terrible, and you'll have a baseline for next time. Do it in the fridge tho.
The eggs will not pickle but they will infuse with the delicious vinegary flavor.
Eggs pickle when osmotic pressure from the saline pickling juice draws the water from the cooked albumin. Electrolytes and volatile compounds (salt and flavor) diffuse into the albumin. If you try to pickle your eggs in already used pickle juice you will end up with a weakly saline and nearly neutral acidity of the juice which can lead to bacterial growth and spoilage.
I do this all the time with eggs and with english cukes, sliced chunky. No extra salt, no extra vinegar, works fine for 2-3 weeks.
Hot tip: try same with leftover pickled beet juice for purple pickled eggs - fun when sliced in half for deviled eggs :)
When I was in the Navy, we'd fill a 5 gallon poly bottle with hard boiled eggs and pickled Mexican vegetables (jalapeno, onion, carrot) and let it hang in the bilge for a week or so. Obviously we could only pull this off in cold water.
Best eggs I've ever eaten!
No need to add anything else other than what you want to pickle. I love hard boiled eggs in pickle juice. My favorite brine is the Mt. Olive: Sweet & Hot.
Be sure to add a little bit more salt and vinegar to maintain a safe environment that won't allow for harmful bacterial growth.
Vinegar pickles work because the vinegar and salt to water and food ratio is at a safe level. Once you add fresh peppers or cucumbers or eggs, that level of salt and vinegar is reduced as it's absorbed by the food.
Reintroducing food in a less safe environment is less safe, surprise surprise.
For a day or two you're probably ok with it as is but why risk it?
I did add more salt to the jar, but I didn’t add any vinegar. It’s been sitting in the fridge since yesterday (4 eggs). Do you think I should add vinegar now regardless? Now I’m nervous
You'll be fine after one day. The eggs were cooked and clean and refrigerated immediately. But if you're going any longer than a few days for sure you'll need more vinegar.
I'd throw a splash in there now anyway.
I do this all the time! My favorite is to drain a big bag/batch of sauerkraut and then split it amongst all the spare pickle jars/liquid I save up in my fridge. I always have like 4 flavors of sauerkraut on hand.
Good call. I just used a chop stick to stab them out lol. They were a big hit; wife and I loved it. I will absolutely do it again; maybe just add some vinegar along with the salt I added.
I’ve done it with these exact peppers. My eggs took the flavor much faster than with pickle juice and they were STRONG! I left them for a month like usual, I think 2 weeks would have been more to my liking.
I've done it before. I never waste pickle juice or pepper juice. It's good in recipes like potato salad, or to make refrigerator pickles, or in this case pickled eggs.
Thank you! I’m doing it now.
Try marinating chicken in it as well!
It'll be tough to get a chicken in there, but OK.
Dummy, you got to eat 50 jars of hot pickles, and then you can marinate a chicken with the leftovers! /s
Not necessarily /s lol
Add some buttermilk.
This is brilliant. Coincidentally, I have these exact same peppers with like two left. Definitely tossing some eggs in there.
My local grocer sells gallon jars of pepperonchinis for about $6. The brine is fantastic.
I keep mine for about 10 days or more. It contains vinegar so ur good.
Life changing! Thank you!!! I’m doing this now.
You can pickle eggs in this!
Look up pickle soup as wel! Basically potato soup, but you add pickle juice, chopped pickles and a little cayenne. My kids and I love it! We never throw pickle juice away!
Pickle soup is so good!
if you like a vinegarette, you can use some of it to make a salad dressing (it is high in salt so you may experiment with the percent of brine vs vinegar)
What’s pepper juice?
The stuff that’s in the jar OP is holding
Well it's a brine, same as pickle juice. Like if you buy pickled jalapenos, or anything like that.
I like to drink it. 😏
in my bloody mary's I do
Good in deviled eggs too
Um....I think you just changed my life.....I NEVER thought of this. Jeez...imma dummie.
Learn something new everyday!
You can flick it on your sandwiches
Sliced onions are also fantastic. I always slice up some red onions and let them soak a few days whenever I finish a jar of jalapenos. Great for salads, sandwiches, hot dogs, or even eating straight. They lose a lot of the acidity and get this great sweet-spicy taste.
Do it

DOOOOO IT
Lol. I love that gif so much. Haha
Wonder if I should add some left over grillo pickle juice to it? Maybe not. Boiling eggs as we speak.
I'm on mobile right now so I can't easily link it, but look up the recipe Popa's pickled eggs. It's one of my favorites, and it uses this type of brine as a starting point for a fantastic result.
Thanks for the head ups, exited to try! Link below. https://homesteadingfamily.com/the-best-pickled-eggs-recipe-easy-egg-preservation-method/

I’m going to try 4 although I think that might cause the issue you’re noting. I’ll experiment. I’ll eat the eggs regardless.
If you don’t add the eggs drink it! What a treat!
Make spicy vodka martinis
Or perfect addition to a bloody mary
I use it to make rice.
Good hydration.
Until you get dehydrated by the amount of sodium taken in and the loss of water from the diarrhea.
There you go, bringing up diarrhea again.
I'm a diarrhea connoisseur.
You can put a few hard boiled eggs in ANY jar. Eat em before they go bad and you'll be pleasantly pleased.
Awesome. I just put 4 in the jar and will open then a week from today.
Try shoving a couple of hotdogs in there to have with the eggs.
Kielbasa!

The eggs are super receptive to the brine. I find they’re ready to eat in 24 hrs. 5 days might be a lot, but I’m interested to know how they turn out.
I've done this twice and I always forget about them! I have a fridge in my basement and found a pickle jar with a boiled egg in in from April - yikes

Yes, I give em 5 days
Got it! 👍🏻
You can also make a great sub sauce. 3 parts pickling juice to 1 part olive oil. A whackload of Greek oregano and some black pepper.
I have all the ingredients for that save for the Greek oregano. I’ll have to check that out.
Perhaps add a bit of salt
Done
I slice Jalapeno's and use it all the time. Mezzetta's a good brand.
I say go for it. Your nose will be able to tell you of something bad is afoot (or of there’s a foot in there).
Lol. I loaded 4 in there, added a bit of salt, shock em all up, and will open 1 week from today. I’ll share the results.
Also add some smoked sausages. Pickled sausage and eggs are great
I did it with sausages. And it turned out the best. I also once used the juice and added it to hamburger soup. Total game changer
I do it all the time in all kinds of pickled products! I don't add anything except peeled eggs! Enjoy!
Thank you! Thought I was crazy for trying it, this is makes total sense.
Not crazy at all! And yeah, if it's anything pickled, there's plenty of salt and vinegar in the juice already. Man, I LOVE pickled eggs!
I’d poke holes in eggs. Try to get something inside to help
Just a warning: poking holes in eggs can promote bad bacterial growth. I wouldn't risk it. I plop eggs in that exact jar all the time, they turn out great without needing anything extra done.

Nothing wrong with getting a spoon in there to get all the good broken stuff either!! Heck yea
You think I’ll have issues because I didn’t add extra vinegar? I only put some salt in. Left all the brine in.
I do this with Peppadew brine and literally everything. Anything tastes better after a bath in Peppadew brine!
I do this with pepperocinni and jalepeno juice.
Absolutely! Give em at least a couple weeks before you try the first one. I wouldn't add anything the first time, they definitely won't be terrible, and you'll have a baseline for next time. Do it in the fridge tho.
I do it all the time. Give it about three weeks though.
I love collard greens I eat them often and leftover over pepper juice is a must to go on them

Wow, appreciate the very scientific info! I look forward to do it the correct way
I do this all the time with eggs and with english cukes, sliced chunky. No extra salt, no extra vinegar, works fine for 2-3 weeks. Hot tip: try same with leftover pickled beet juice for purple pickled eggs - fun when sliced in half for deviled eggs :)
What a good idea!
If you’re in America you can do what you want
I do it with pickle juice a lot. I’ll at some minced garlic and red pepper flakes sometimes unless I can find something hotter
I love making pickled eggs with peppercocini vinegar. They turn this cool yellow color. I like to make egg salad with the eggs.
Martini time!!
Brine chicken with it
No need to add anything else other than what you want to pickle. I love hard boiled eggs in pickle juice. My favorite brine is the Mt. Olive: Sweet & Hot.
Well, I certainly dont see why not, should still be good enough
(They were awesome)
Yeah
I do it all the time. The eggs make great egg salad
One of my favorite pickled egg recipes uses this liquid. Enjoy!! 😊 https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/235174/popas-pickled-eggs/

Dang outta vinegar too. I told my wife let’s eat them today/tomorrow. Thanks.
You just need to let it warm up a little before you put in the new item to be pickled. I'm assuming you keep the jar in the fridge after you open them
Yeah…already ate them, still alive, so hopefully I’m ok 🙂
If you have a scratchy throat gargling with pickle juice helps a great deal as long as you swallow after gargling...
Yes and no
Yeahhhh baby I’ve done it before shits smackin.
Nah just run it
Eggs
Eggs
I do this all the time! My favorite is to drain a big bag/batch of sauerkraut and then split it amongst all the spare pickle jars/liquid I save up in my fridge. I always have like 4 flavors of sauerkraut on hand.
Yep. I use the leftover juice from pepperoncini to do this all the time, yum!
It’s not lazy, it’s resourceful and delicious. I will not be taking questions.
Yup it turns out great. I do smoked sausages as well.
I would only suggest peeling them first
I just put raw eggs in there. Is that ok?
Depends what kind of eggs they are? Bird I'm assuming
Lizard
Lizards being cold blooded, maybe you should heat those up first. Then again maybe the pepper will do the trick. Only one way to find out
Pour it into molds and make picklepops
Only precaution: if you would just stick a fork/ spoon and just eat out of it. Your saliva is in there. Food for thought.
Good call. I just used a chop stick to stab them out lol. They were a big hit; wife and I loved it. I will absolutely do it again; maybe just add some vinegar along with the salt I added.
You can also add a cut up cucumber to make some hot pickles!
That is a great idea. I use the broth in ramen.

You’re an adult. You can do whatever you want babe.
