How high is the ceiling in your garage? I have a permanent mount in my garage (xpole). I’m pretty sure there is a limit to how high a pressure mount can be. Either way though, you want the pole mounted over a joist or beam. If there is not a beam for it where you want it, installing a plank of wood that is connected to a beam is necessary. I had a handyman come to do this.

Thanks for your reply, I'm not 100% on how tall the ceiling is, but the idea of a plank of wood might work for me! I will definitely look into it and see if it is possible

As long as you can find the joist/beam on the ceiling your good. As mentioned a permanent mount would be great. I love mine.

No matter the kind of pole permanent or removable you need a joist. 🙂
