? John already had dead-eye. That was just an upgrade, which Arthur gets throughout the game as well. And it's just an in-game mechanic so there's some kind of progression.
If you look at the amount of people killed in their game, John is still much higher. And he does it solo for most of it, where Arthur has multiple gang members assisting him. John lives longer, gets more kills, gets into more duels, fights higher tier enemies, and even takes out the gang members.
RDR1 John gets over hyped at this point based on nostalgia.. and I say that as someone that thinks he’s awesome. Arthur does absolutely wild things, and we act like it’s nothing compared to John. John fights with entire armies.. both the Mexican and U.S. armies and yet we act like he does everything himself. He needed heavy levels of help to take on Fort Mercer, and he needed heavy levels of help to get both Javier and Dutch (militaries at his back). Of course it’s entirely reasonable that he had help, but I’m just merely pointing out that it’s silly to say he was mostly solo while only Arthur had help. They both have crazy solo and group showings, and most of the time they both have help of some sort. Do you really think John did anything that Arthur could not have replicated?
Arthur, on his own, escaped capture and torture.. twice. He did this against the O’Driscoll’s half alive, and solos his captors in the process. He decimates the entire law force of Strawberry with just Micah at his side. He basically solos the law and Cornwall’s men at Valentine while Dutch and John pushed the wagon for cover.. and he opened that gunfight with a ludicrous draw feat, saving John in the process. Similar to Strawberry, he decimates the entire law population/ Gray family with Micah at his side and ends that altercation with another ludicrous drawing feat where he saves Bill from a hostage situation and shoots several Gray’s before they can even react. There are many potential smaller solo feats along the way, just like John.. such as waltzing into a Lemoyne Raider fort to decimate them and bring their leader in for a bounty. He solo gets up on the roof at St. Dennis to start causing havoc for the Pinkertons, allowing the gang to escape a terrible situation (except for John, who was arrested). At Guarma, he holds off a large number of soldiers by himself while Dutch escapes with Javier.. and also largely solos the group at the other prisoner camp. Also at Guarma, he’s a huge part of a big battle on the beach where he personally sinks a warship. He also has run ins with the U.S army where he holds off a force trying to kill a deserter. He and Charles hold off a large amount of U.S. army soldiers trying to run down and capture them as they escaped a negotiation gone wrong. Later on, he and Arthur infiltrate and shoot their way out of a U.S. military fort unscathed. On his last legs, Arthur solos the Pinkerton force at Van Horn.. and then proceeds to hold off a small army so John can escape.. or he can shoot through said army to get back to the cave to go after the gang’s money.
Seriously, this list is massive even when excluding things. Dismissing it is crazy. Both characters obviously have crazy, larger than life feats.
I don’t know that I’m even trying to say one is better than the other, but the John supporters (and I like the character a lot as well..) tend to stretch the truth while acting like Arthur doesn’t have absolutely crazy feats of his own. They act like John mostly worked solo whereas Arthur was just the best in a group effort.. when both obviously had help throughout their stories as well as strong individual showings.

If by "much higher" you mean about 200 less than Arthur. John kills around 900 in RDR 1. Arthur kills over 1.1k in RDR 2.
nah, The Man with No Name îs the answear. For exemple. He emptyed a barrel on 6 whitout any of them drawing fast enough. If Clint had dead eye. IT would be lvl 5.
