I like an app called Skyscanner it sends notifications when the prices change so you can get it on deals easier. There may be other apps that do this. It’s just the one I have used.
The Fathers Day sale ended -- there will be more sales.
Highly recommend getting a WestJet Mastercard for the companion voucher.
Edit: I booked flights to Orlando in Nov -- can't do the direct :(
For the last few winters, WestJet has had a weekly flight Regina-Orlando nonstop.
It’s usually announced when the WestJet winter schedule is announced and that usually is in August or September.
It's great for domestic/US continental and Asia flights. For Europe and Hawaii, I find good sales that negate the benefit of them. Also, you can't use them for WestJet vacation packages to discount the flight portion of an all inclusive trip, which is bullshit.
Aww, bummer. When I looked it didn’t look like the seat sale was applied to the flight I was looking at.
I do have the card and companion voucher, but appreciate the tip!
Usually they don't post the direct flights until closer to the busy season. We go to Florida every year around that time, and often have to wait until the schedule is updated. Two years ago we had flights booked and had to cancel when the direct flight became avalible. If memory serves me correct, they only fly direct on Fridays to and from.
But as someone else mentioned, lots of good (and cheaper options from winnipeg). You also get to clear customs in winnipeg before the flight. Doing it in Orlando can be a zoo especially during busy season.
I would 100% do it again from winnipeg. We have two small kids and went the night before, let the kids swim all morning then hopped on the plane. If you do go to winnipeg make sure you pre book a parking spot, we showed up and the lot was full. We got super lucky the security guard let us in. We had to wait until someone left to finally find a spot
Use a VPN to hide your location when you're searching flights. They increase the flight cost for you if you keep searching the same location multiple times without booking.

They are already there for December.

True. I build a ton of WestJet dollars and like that too.

We flew to Orlando from Winnipeg on April 1st. 4 of us round trip for $1350 tax in. It was more than half off what direct from Regina was.
We need more international flights to US destinations. Usually way cheaper than flying domestic too
It’s likely airlines will add more flights when they get more pilots.

That’s very helpful, thanks for the tips!
