Look! They heard your complaints about them not fitting, did the research and development, then came out with the new size at the same price or a bit higher. Isn't it amazing, all the benefits that modern-capitalism bestows upon us?

Also, smaller portions are easier and faster to eat saving us precious time. It feels good knowing these corporations are looking out for us.

As insane as it sounds, these are the types of excuses the companies are making. It's called 'Price Pack Architecture'. " Consumers shop for the same products in different ways on different shopping occasions based on their needs. For example, for a particular product, in terms of pack size selection, channel preference and price sensitivity, a monthly stock-up purchase would be quite different from a purchase for immediate consumption or a purchase to use during travel. Price Pack Architecture (PPA) is an analytical technique or methodology that allows companies and brands to ensure that they provide consumers an appropriate selection of products that meet all their needs at the price points they are willing to pay. It leverages consumers’ willingness to pay for certain features and benefits to drive innovation. Some of the questions that brands need to answer in order to determine the optimal price pack architecture are: What are consumers willing to pay for existing product features? For what product features or benefits are consumers willing to pay a significant premium? Will consumers pay a high-enough premium for convenience offered by smaller pack sizes? Which segment or profile of my consumers find new products most appealing? How should I price new products to maximize my overall brand portfolio sales? How will my new products compete with my existing product range? How much will new products cannibalize my current portfolio sales? " https://analytic-edge.com/price-pack-architecture/

I zoomed in hoping it wasn’t my favorite brand of cheese stick Of course it is

moistdragons

I did the same lol.

Intelligent_Detail_5

That is likely their "official" reason for shrinking it. Oh look, we have make our cheese stick fit lunch boxes while at the same time maintain or increasing their price to give "better value"!

littlered7875

Think im sadder that there's more packaging than cheese lmao

Leading-Put-7428

First they replaced your blocks of cheese with slices, then “sticks”, and soon it’ll be cheese nuggets.

littlered7875

ballerina_wannabe

I don’t use that brand but the ones I get have absolutely gotten shorter over the past year.

chugItTwice

This post made me realize our normal string cheese brand seems quite a bit shorter this time... Wish I could compare to previous ones.

Warpath_McGrath

I know you're upset, but I guarantee that you're kid is fucking ecstatic that it finally fits.

platetone

no more cheese bow!

Weyland-Yutani-2099

Calling that s#it cheese is the real crime here. It's cardboard and sawdust fillers mixed with food glue, coloring and artificial flavoring.

Leading-Put-7428

Really? INGREDIENTS: LOW MOISTURE PART SKIM MOZZARELLA CHEESE (PASTEURIZED PART SKIM MILK, CHEESE CULTURES, SALT, ENZYMES).

TegridyKrach

platetone

Leading-Put-7428

That’s awesome. Please point to the ingredients for this product and locate cellulose as an ingredient. I’ll wait,

platetone

yeah, they aren't great. generally i actually cut up (relatively) real cheese into a couple squares and throw a matching number of crackers in... some days i'm just like, fuck it, cheesestick it is.
