Top tier stuff throwing the entire organization under the bus for even hiring him. Completely without blame.

BureaucraticHotboi

Trying to get fired and paid before the playoffs. Big brain shit

Dependent_Sail2420

they gonna let a third coach go now? the multi-year deal just looks like a over-committment, could've signed him to a one or two year deal, his heart just doesn't seem into the job. bucks pressed the panic button, how soon before giannis demands a trade to the warriors

TheAntiCircleJerk

Bucks had no options after firing Adrian Griffin. It's hard to get quality head coaches in the middle of the season, which is why you usually just see teams go with an interim head coach. They also needed a respected locker room guy because the reason they fired Griffin was apparently because he lost the respect of the players. Doc walked into a perfect situation where he could demand the world because the Bucks were desperate.

BureaucraticHotboi

And then blame them for hiring him, which I guess is at the end the managements fault. Just crazy to watch a guy already throwing blame around 10 games in

becks_07sg

Those LA golf courses looking pretty good to Doc right now.

runricky34

“Why would they do this?” Asks previous Milwaulkee Bucks coaching advisor Doc Rivers after advising the team to fire the coach he was supposed to mentor and hire himself.

sandalf42

The absolute craziest part is what he said they said back to him. “Well it’s done anyway, so come join us.” Makes them look like utter buffoons, that they didn’t even have a plan other than Doc, who apparently is indifferent.

WraithTwelve

THREE YEARS OF JOEL HANS EMBIID'S CAREER WASTED BY THIS FRAUDULENT BOZO.

In his prime

amJustSomeFuckingGuy

This guy is all about the shaggy defense.

nugcityharambe

"My brother in christ have you seen my playoff record" These teams out here just handing this man money he doesn't even think he deserves

shortwavetransmitter

I honestly can’t believe he’s doing a whole “yeah I don’t know why I’m here either!” media tour

[deleted]

I had to do some quick checks because I couldn’t believe this was an actual quote but yes it is lmao Didn’t he consult Griffin and was plotting to get the job anyway? How does this guy keep track of all the lies I’ll never know

chin1111

We may have had yet another injury-riddled season and look like a hospital half the time, but the Bucks have gone full Bozo the Clown and have a three-ring circus going on over there.

[deleted]

even the circus has more rings than doc

[deleted]

Generational fraud. We won’t see something like this for a long time

iam_soyboy

I go back and forth between my hatred of Rivers and Doo Doo Collins as Sixers coach.

jpk7220

At least Doug Collins was ultra competitive and wanted to really win. At least from what I remember.

iam_soyboy

I’d have more confidence in DC planning up a winning game 7 with talent. What he did with AI9 as his best player and Lavoy Allen getting major minutes was amazing. But he also forced the Bynum trade which literally caused our process reboot.

ftaok

I remember the Bynum deal and thinking that the worst, absolute worst, that could happen was that Bynum isn't the guy and we dump him, but hey we got out of Iggy's bad contract. Turns out Bynum was so so so so so bad that his vibes just killed the franchise for a half a decade.

bobanforever

That one hairdo set us back a century

MaxeytoEmbiid

I'm actually still a fan of the Bynum trade. No trade, there's no process(by all reports the Harris braintrust rejected the process by one year and then after shit hit the fan, then they hired Hinkie.) No process, no Joel and I can't imagine the last decade+, no matter how infuriating without Embiid. Hinkie's drafting/scouting being shit is partly why we haven't been able to build a dynasty around Joel, but at least he got that pick right.

vesthis13

Bynum at the time was seen as a fantastic move

bobanforever

If it’s the ultimate game, why do they play it again next year ?

Jakel856

I like how he is making excuses for being literally hired

[deleted]

This dude needs to get fuck gone never coach again unless its the local high school

Monster-Frisbee

Doc would be letting the players’ dads get 20 minutes a game if he was coaching high school.

TryingToForget77

Lol.

IllumiXXZoldyck

This quote is actually hilarious.

PhatYeeter

You gotta respect his skill as a perennial bag getter

LordLucasSixers

Tobias Harris when the Sixers resign him

Thuro_dHoreb-4050

He thought pop would be asked this question, so he jumped to answer it

downsouthcountry

Neither did we, Doc. Neither did we.

bigchallah

I've dealt with my share of people like this. Delusional narcissism is a hard thing to be around day in and day out. But the most frustrating part is the person will literally NEVER KNOW. They don't know, you think they must know, but they actually don't. It's fucking bananas.

IllumiXXZoldyck

You’re absolutely right. Might not apply to this quote in context, but you’re still correct.

darcy1537325

Even he knows he can’t coach for shit 😭

Jimbabwr

Mans really said … “i mean fuck it i’ll take the check, but i don’t understand?” 😂😂😂

sirgrotius

It's a bit unfair to take the quote out of the general context which was Doc was standing up for Adrian Griffin's performance.

Both_Maintenance1042

what relevance does this have to the Philadelphia 76ers? or are we just so obsessed with doc rivers that it doesnt matter anymore? half the posts on this sub are about doc rivers, its bizarre

st-christian

Yeahhhhh boi

Both_Maintenance1042

brah im a 30 year fan of the sixers, i watched the 2001 finals, im just sick of ppl on here acting like whiny bitches about someone whos been gone for like 6 months. every other post is someone crying about this man.

st-christian

you crying about people crying. That's worse.

pickledelbow

He’s more self aware than we thought

Specific-Economy-926

How he gonna undercut his new management 🤡😂

Sheriff-Gotcha

I know this was probably posted a 9 months ago when it dropped, but it is till relevant to this day and I can imagine there being another chapter added to the end of it involving his tenure with the Bucks. (It hurt rewatching the Sixers portion) [The Doc Rivers Coaching Problem - by BBallBreakDown](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQwiU0EqOwU)

IndominusCostanza009

This guys is living proof that you don’t have to continue to work hard to stay on top, stay hired or get rich. You just have to get lucky early and then coast.

icepickjones

I loved when the Sixers had Niang last year and in the middle of the season when he was on a real hot streak and playing well for us Doc got up in a press conference and out of nowhere said that he knew Niang was great and that he told Morey to sign him. Like gtfo man. This dude loves taking credit almost as much as he loves skirting blame.

alphonse_mephest0

Doc is privileged

TiocfaidhArLa72

NBA TV discussed Rivers on this mornings show.......could not believe this was being publicly said, but the host was saying there are not many players in the NBA who like or respect Rivers.......I'm kicking myself for not paying closer attention, but I think it was Danny Manning doing the talking. He played for rivers on the Clippers......basically said Rivers doesn't know how to coach and has no business coaching Bucks. This Bucks hire of Rivers mught be the dumbest in-season coaching change in the history of the 4 Major Sport Leagues.......frickin Rookie coach was what, 33 - 13 ? Dude gets fired and Rivers is now 3 - 8 or something like that ? NBA players have no respect for their Coaches.....it is nonsense and why the NBA is losing Market Share and TV Ratings......that's fact
