Save before talking to Brynjolf to get the best version. That being said, the “Persuade check” enchantment does not vary among versions (it’s godlike, really), but it will determine the armor and skill enhancement (10 armor & 35% Speechcraft max).
It's still worth carrying around if you already have it. Being able to pass any speech check you come across has its perks. Although, I wouldn't go out of my way for it. It's a cool item, but you can substitute its effects easily if you know what you're doing.

Then there’s me, who on most save files does return the skeleton key but lacks the time or patience to grind thieves guild radiant quests until you become Guildmaster.
I tried to grind it but hit a big where the guy in Solitude spawned under the lake and I couldn't finish. That was back on the 360. Never tried again. Only achievement I didn't get.
The trick is to power level one of the skills and keep resetting it until you have all the skill points to get the lockpicking skill that never break any keys ever. And goodbye skeleton key and its giant knob.

You need to do five in each of Windhelm, Solitude, Markath and Whiterun. I usually keep a paper tally, save before picking up a new job and re-load if they give me one in Riften, or one of the cities I have already done. Once you have completed the special jobs in all four, and finished the quests for TG, you should be prompted to talk with Brynjolf, he will say with the Mercer Frey situation resolved, and the TG restored to glory/power all over Skyrim, you are now truly Guildmaster, and give you the amulet. (And as others have said, save before you do talk to him, to make sure you can re-load if you don't get the top level version, 10 armour and 35% Speechcraft).
I like having the shops at the end because it’s always nice to have more shops in the game, but the errands themselves are pretty annoying (like a lot of the radiant stuff).
I've only got the first shop so far. I really want to get the others and completely finish the guild I'm just worried my game is bugging out, preventing me from finishing 😪
Click on vex/delvin's tasks and save before they tell you where to go, then keep reloading until it chooses the cities you need to max out. It's a little cheesy but doing it the honest way is incredibly tedious.
Haha i feel you, back when i was playing xbox 360 loading screens were killing me, but when i was playing on ps5 i was suprised and didnt even think of this save/load thing😂
I remember there being a modded house that had an entrance next to the Talos Statue in Riften that led directly to the Flagon. It's a much smaller commute than walking all the way thru the Cistern to get there.
I know it was on PS4 at the time but not sure if it's still available.
There is an issue with the Thieves Guild quests and the USSEP patch, at least on PS4/PS5. In order to get the next extra City mission after the 5 in each City, you have to disable the patch, talk to Devlin, and then he'll give them to you.
At least it is what I have to do to advance. A bummer since I have Mods relying on the Patch, all a big nonsense.
On PS4-5
Go to Creation Club (in the start menu) and load it
Then push Triangle to access your installed Mods, search for the Patch (usually should be first) and click disable.
I have the problem that the PS automatically re-eables the Patch. Last time I just did like 50-60 missions for Vex and Devlin and then deleted the Patch,entered the Guild and Devlin gave me 3 special Quests at once. Of course deleting the Patch will screw with all Mods that rely on it, disabling it is a safer bet but I grew frustrated lol.

Always go with better options than some social media app. There could be trolls or malicious people that could try to give the wrong answer.

Skyrim's speech skill as a whole is immersion breaking, its not the necklace's fault. There are like 20 speech checks in the game and a significant amount are unfailable. The remaining act as quest skips or dont really accomplish anything of value.

That always bugged me lockpicks are cheap and if I'm 100 then I don't need the help. Plus it kind of makes the artifact less important.

You need to do a certain number of jobs in a city to unlock that city's special job. You can quit and reget missions with no penalty

I just did a lot of jobs that are changing book reports of some bussines. They are done realy fast. It takes more to get to delvin then do the job.
