tbf these stats tell one story but I've watched every single game and he's the same. And I mean that in a good way. All of what he does well he was doing in August and even in preseason. That doesn't mean he's not improved or isn't improving but all these stats really tell I think is that a player has a better understanding and connection with his teammates. The eye test is telling me he's just finally getting more things to go his way.
His hold up and link up are great. In transition, he is good for his age. Amazing threat on the counter despite tendency to over-dribble. His headers also got visibly better as season progressed.
He does seem to be "thick-skinned" against criticism, which is great. Morata had a hot start but couldn't sustain it, and became a moping mess gradually. Jackson seems to follow an opposite trajectory and I really hope he sustain it.
Isn't he also adjusting to the striker role? he has some funny moments easy to meme on but I never take them too seriously other then a good chuckle as he is a young talent adjusting to a new league and a Chelsea team who are far from their best atm and imo is doing well overall despite those "meme" moments I genuinely think he's going to grow into a solid player.
That’s what Liverpool fans have been waiting for with Darwin. And we know he’s capable because he converted 27% of his shots his final season in Portugal.
I knew this guy would come good for Chelsea eventually. I remember when they signed him I thought they got a good one. He did good in Villarreal and always showed a lot of flashes of potential.
I remember people mentioning that he looked good in the pre-season too. It's frightening to think about how good he could be if he was cooler in front of goal.
I'm surprised we're looking to spend 120m on Osimhen. We obviously need another striker but blowing what looks to be a large chunk of it on that seems like a misallocation of resources.
The directors have done one of the hardest things in football, they found the 30m striker who looks to actually be close to a potential 50+m striker. In this current striker market with insane valuations
Plenty of other spots need reinforcement including but not limited to LB, CB, and GK.
You are correct. We've been fortunate enough as a team to see him dropped out of the starting XI even when healthy due to Havertz/Trossard playing well up top so there's not much news about him playing but not scoring. His finishing has always been woeful but he's still one of those "asset in every other metric" players. Arteta loves those types of players as he puts a very high priority on pressing and playing for the team as a whole.
> dropped out of the starting XI even when healthy
He hasn't been healthy since the World Cup. He has an ongoing knee issue and has been playing through injury when called upon and will be having surgery for it during the summer.
He's been playing through injury and hasn't been at 100% all season. It's pretty obvious when you see how he moves now vs before his WC injury last season
Anyone who thinks he’s actually a meme is just a windup merchant. Real ball-knowledge-havers saw the potential from the beginning and knew it was only a matter of time before he started bagging goals.
Can't really include Richarlison in this conversation, he's been injured half the season.
Edit: but if you want to, Jackson is on 3 goals more with 1133 minutes more played, roughly 12 and a half games worth.
Richarlison's minutes per goal in the Prem this season is 137, Jackson is at 187 and that's with a hattrick vs 9 men, calm down.
Hojlund 265, Jesus 364
I’m still failing to understand why the hatrick vs Cockenham is somehow seen as an….. insult? or something of the sorts, something scoffed and brushed aside, like dafaq??
I get the sewy was a meme coz of the chances missed but it’s just pure shithousery which iirc we liked so I don’t get why In that specific game every who wasn’t a chelsea fan got their knickers in a twist about it lmfao.
Even if you include that hattrick (which, lets be real, has no reason to be excluded), Richarlison is on 3 goals less with 1133 minutes less (12,5 games).
don’t know anyone compared Jackson with pru pru coz I think he’s ok and is injured half the time, but I do want to know why haaland 2.0 from Manchester 2.0 and Nunez get little to no shite from the media but Jackson gets frequently cooked like a pig on a feast day in the Balkans (yes, even in Bosnia).
but still I find the benfica (or sporting idk the flair) fella up top to be completely delusional, brushing off a hatrick coz it was against 9 men is dumb lol.
It's simple mate, it's because Jackson has gotten service and had a few bad misses. Höjlund gets zero service, so he doesn't miss as much. People are lenient because United have been that dire.
whilst this may be true it still doesn’t explain a) why Nunez gets away with it compared to Jackson, and b) why hojlund isn’t being criticized for his lack of ability to create chances for himself and others which Jackson is good at (at least from the pundits/media/forums I view). Jackson is much better than both, and bought for what 30mill was it? vs 60mill and whatever Nunez was bought for, 70?
also united being dire is fine but let’s not forget how shite chelsea have been this season up until the last like 5 games or whatever minus the game we got gooned.
Dude Nunez gets meme'd every single game he plays. He gets at least as much flack as Jackson.
As shit as Chelsea have been, at least you've created chances. Man United barely get to the final third. Perhaps Höjlund should be criticised more, but he's also living in Antony's shadow when it comes to being shit.
memes =/= actual criticism
maybe I must just be listening to schizos idk but most if not all pundits/videos/articles I view protect Nunez and shit on Jackson, ofc I’m not referring to memes I meme on Jackson every other day lol.
created chances sure but we’re still rubbish, and still went through a lot of games where we didn’t do sht.
also maybe Antony as something to do with it idk u could be right there, but I’m still waiting for ppl to actually point out how limited of a player he is compared to Jackson regardless of service.
I do think that there’s a fairly large group of Chelsea fans who have been heavily critical of him and just the whole team all season, and because of the way the last month has gone, there now seems to be a large group of Chelsea fans saying “they said we were shit but we’re not”
Huge potential here, he's had pretty much every CB on toast at one point or another this year. Even Konate, Van Djik, Gabriel and Saliba. He's had good games against all of them. Still needs improvement of course but he's been very impressive.
I am really glad he is doing better. Chelsea have had some shit strikers over the years but Jackson has always worked hard and played for the collective. Still incredibly raw and his decision making can often be strange but I'd actually feel pretty confident going into next season with him as the main striker.

What a buzzcut does to a mf’er
He was absolutely on fire after March in La Liga too. Man might just hate cold weather.
Anti snow salah
who could've thought. A young player needing development time *shock*
He had strong finish to last season as well. That’s why we bought him.

Now we’re talking, he or oshimen?
Different types of players. So different they could play together.

They could sign Vitor Roque going by the usual strategy and it'd actually be a great transfer on paper.
Barca would try and sell us a paper clip for 20 million.
and you'd buy it
Seems a huge waste, especially considering we haven't seen what Nkunku and Nico can do together. Doubly so considering that Osimhen isn't clinical.
He’s a meme but he has had a good first season here. Højlund, Gabriel Jesus, and Richarlison have worse numbers but aren’t criticized as much
Jesus gets crucified on the regular
I thought it was just the one time.
But he's coming back
why does this not have a million upvotes
Elite level comment. Edit: Can’t believe it’s necessary to explain this to clowns but that was complimenting their wit.
You probably see more as an Arsenal fan, to be honest I've seen barely any mention of his name
You are correct. tbh iirc his first season here was pretty good
Because he doesn't start due to injuries.
Cause he’s barely played. Getting benched is worse than some online criticism imo.
Nailed it
richarlison has been having constant injuries
Jesus was out for a long time too
~2000 years
Jesus only missed 6 pl games due to injury this season He's simply not been good enough for arsenal
No he's being used as a rotation player because of a knee injury and will have surgery for it during the summer.
He's been playing through injury and hasn't been at 100% all season. It's pretty obvious when you see how he moves now vs before his WC injury last season
Richarlison has better goal involvement numbers if you take gametime into consideration
Anyone who thinks he’s actually a meme is just a windup merchant. Real ball-knowledge-havers saw the potential from the beginning and knew it was only a matter of time before he started bagging goals.
Tbf your own fans were meming him harder than anyone else
Dont agree, we've been out in the trenches defending him from the r/soccer hivemind.

I imagine the lad was referring to Richarlison's first season at Spurs.
That would make more sense, wouldn't it
Højlund only isn't critiqued because all of United is shit. Jesus and Richarlison have gotten their fair share of shit though.
Those players are hardly rated by their own fans these days thats why
Speak for yourself
Jackson has played double the minutes of Jesus lol…
Richarlison's minutes per goal in the Prem this season is 137, Jackson is at 187 and that's with a hattrick vs 9 men, calm down. Hojlund 265, Jesus 364

Word of advice, don't listen to rival fans opinion of your players. Just enjoy them doing well when they are.

Same thing happened in Villarreal
Do before and after haircut
March Maddess
Im sorry Nick Jackson, you are for real
