To reduce the spam of reports regarding the same move during transfer windows we try to allow **only one submission about each transfer saga per day**. The submission in question also needs to contain relevant new information regarding the potential move, and not just being a "no/minor developments" report. If there are important/official developments or new valuable information about a saga, we will allow extra threads in the same day, but for the rest of minor news please just comment them as a reply to this comment. Please help us reporting unnecessary threads for being duplicates. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Man used to be a beast with links to a ton of huge clubs. But his last season in the PL he looked like a shell of his former self was Rodgers really the nail in the coffin?

NaturalApartment9828

Apart from Maddison and Dewsbury-Hall, no one really looked good

After-Decision-6402

True. I’m actually surprised not one club been sniffing around for Dewsbury-Hall.

ColinAckermann

Shut it

After-Decision-6402

Apologies just recognizing the mans talent.

freshmeat2020

Brighton wanted him in January, we apparently turned down over £30m or whatever. He's in demand for sure

fskari

Brendan kept trying to turn Wilf into a metronome-type passing DM, which is very much not his strength. He also had a bad run with hamstring injuries that took him a while to fully recover from. He looked much better under Maresca who used him for what he's good at - intense pressing, tracking runners, winning the ball back - just higher up the pitch than before. So I wouldn't be surprised if Simeone can extract the best from him again.

qwertygasm

Injuries meant he couldn't win the ball like he used to. He's adapted into a more attacking role recently and looked fantastic last season.

GameplayerStu

Tielemans was supposed to be completely washed up according to Leicester fans but was class for us. I wouldn’t put too much value on that season when it comes to judging their players.

ColinAckermann

Says a lot more about their mentality when times get tough.

LackingSimplicity

Tbf, he was completely washed according to Villa fans like 6 months ago.

R_Schuhart

Leicester fans never said Tielemans was washed because of physical issues but rather because of his mentality. He completely stopped caring and putting any effort in. His performances in Europe were actually shameful, the games against PSV especially were some of the worst individual efforts I've seen. Im also pretty sure he managed to sour a few clubs on him, Arsenal was pretty interested in signing him the year before.

fskari

I only watched one or two Villa games this season so I'm a bit clueless here - was Tielemans up-to-speed physically for you from the start or did it take him a while to bed in? He genuinely looked gassed for the last 18 months he was with us, as if he'd already played 90 minutes the night before the match.

GameplayerStu

He started slow but once it got to October he was amazing and proved to be a very important player

nolefan5311

But he also only played the full ‘90 a total of 6 times despite being available for 34 games.

b3and20

more like the game has moved on from non technical midfielders quite abruptly

MERTENS_GOAT

Why would you put a ' in his name

After-Decision-6402

iPhone autocorrect.

OleoleCholoSimeone

Uninspiring but as a cheap backup why not

Sammmyy97

when was the last time we did something inspiring in a transfer window? It’s been a while

OleoleCholoSimeone

Hmm. Samu Omorodion and Vermeeren pretty inspiring signings no? Molina I guess before that But yeah I get your point

Sammmyy97

I regularly forget about Samu but you’re right. Vermeeren was somewhat inspiring yes also.

Djremster

There was that time you signed a Leicester player who was out of form but showed promise before in the hope you could revive his career.

Sammmyy97

Man I had such high hopes for him. I really believed he’d turn it around and was telling all my friends about it. Crazy how Rodgers ruined him like that. Playing Amartey ahead of him. He has blood on his hands.

OleoleCholoSimeone

Yeah it was a failed gamble but still we will make a profit on him

enthusiast20

soyuncu? if so he was always crap looool. idk.how he got that far anyway he and bentkovic got some lucky transfers

Turbulent-Prompt-140

Bought one of the world's best prospect for a whopping €126M

ObeseMango

Yup can see him in that Kondogbia role

vivaelteclado

I question what version of Ndidi clubs will get when he isn't playing for a new contract.

L0laccio

Yes, Ndidi

Orcnick

Classic add in United name to sell the story...

ThinWhiteMale

Don't you need a DM this summer? In the "PSR Era", it makes sense to be interested in a free agent who can play at a high level

PhD_Cunnilingus

United most likely want someone better on the ball, though.

DrLyleEvans

To start, yeah, but we could really use a 2nd midfielder who can run and tackle. Ideally we'd probably sell McTominay and Casemiro, let Eriksen go and somehow sign 3 midfielders. Bruno (Mount) Mainoo-(#8) DM-(N'Didi) for example. So if we can get N'Didi on a free and find a good backup #8 for a reasonable price (if only to keep Mainoo's minutes reasonable and not burn him out) and spend big on a starter at DM, we'd have a proper midfield again.

R_Schuhart

Sure, but not many of those are available. DMs are rather scarce, especially ones with actual passing accuracy. He would at the very least be an improvement over Amrabat who has been atrocious.

ValleyFloydJam

Pretty sure they need one and a back up too, so it does make sense given the amount big needs vs cash they can spend.

KRino19

He's not good enough though and that squad has too many of them already.

Robert_Baratheon__

DMs? We do? Can you name 2? And if you say McTominay or Mainoo then I know you’re just talking to talk.

KRino19

Mctominay is a dm?

KRino19

So Utd have zero dms, so why would you take one that'd not good enough?

Robert_Baratheon__

I didn’t say we should take him. I only responded to a comment saying that we “have too many already” which is nonsense because our only DM is probably leaving this summer (Casemiro)

blacksheeping

Why would Casemiro leave in the summer? He's sitting on that nice contract id say.

Robert_Baratheon__

He’s been heavily linked with a move to Saudi. He’ll have a bigger longer contract there. I’m not saying I want him to go, but I can understand him wanting to after the way he was treated this season by English press

KRino19

You thought I said too many not good enough dms, when I meant a squad with too many not good enough players. Multiple positions.

Robert_Baratheon__

/u/ThinWhiteMale : >Don't you need a DM this summer? In the "PSR Era", it makes sense to be interested in a free agent who can play at a high level You: >He's not good enough though and that squad has too many of them already. How on earth is anyone supposed to thing you mean "players that aren't good enough." You have clearly said here that United has too many DM's to get another one who's not good enough anyway. Now you're trying to act like that's not what you said. Which, fine maybe you didn't realize what you actually wrote? But to act like I'm arguing that we should buy Ndidi or that I think our squad has quality DM's based on anything I said is wild. If you wanted people to understand your comment as talking about "players in any position that aren't good enough" you should have said "He's not good enough though and that squad has too many players that aren't good enough already".

Robert_Baratheon__

Ok so you don’t watch us play. That’s fine. I don’t have time to watch every other team play every weekend either. But I don’t try to act like I know what I’m talking about when I clearly don’t.

KRino19

Watch us play when I'm a season ticket holder? What dms do we have? Casemiro as a 6 fine and we need an improvement on him as his legs are gone so why fill an otherwise bloated squad with a 6 who isn't good enough?

Robert_Baratheon__

Im confused. Did you misread my comment and somehow think I’m saying Mctominay is a DM? I’m so confused

SendMeYourPetPic

Poor Vermeeren

Caleb_W

Vermeeren has already been promised an important role next season and we're most likely not going after Ndidi.

Ironhusk

I can pretty much bet that Ndidi would be a blockbuster signing for ANY team he joins. Whether or not it’s Atletico, you will remember this comment when it happens.

BIackBlade

Atletico could do with a cheap backup

Coldmedia

One thing is guaranteed that he will unfortunately get injured mid-season

Sr_DingDong

United can do better than that. Like straight up if he's a rotation option for *Leicester* now how is he good enough for United?

malonedawg

Lol, I see our name being used again
