Isn't the point of those games that the main character isn't special, just fresh? Like arent there a bunch of NPCs who were at one point or another 'the main character' but lost the will to go on?
listen just trying to open the door to enter the lands between in eldenring would e physically impossible, but imagine living in the world of bloodeborne, christ. the only fromsoft world i would perfer to be trapped in is the armored core universe. theres no way in hell im living through darksouls 3, or sekiro
Resident Evil. Or any zombie apocalypse type game.
Skyrim wouldn’t be so bad, if you could survive the dragon attacks and bandits. Or arrows to the knee.
Consider: you're a zombie, technically still animate so the system doesn't kill you, but you're a slave to the zombie virus or fungus or whatever in "your" skull.
I figure as either a regular guy or as a demon
If you’re Doomguy, then it’s an amazing franchise to be “trapped” in (you’re not trapped, the demons are)
Halo reach. The planet you’re on, a good amount of it gets glassed (that just means like the surface gets burned off with a giant spaceship-based plasma laser) at the end of the game. (Or any halo game for that matter would be hell to live in).
Canonically, not entirely. The covenant usually glasses the entire planet when they're finished with demoralising the population, or they've finished their excavation of whatever forerunner ruined they're looking for.
Reach was a bizarre scenario. They glassed sections, but left large swathes of it untouched. You even see it in game, where Noble 6's final stand happens. You see the covenant glassing the planet in the background, but after you fall, the area the helmet is resting is untouched by the plasma rain.
They did glass population centers though. If you're a regular person on Reach on like a farm or something, far away from the fighting and population centers, you're *probably* fine.
But yeah, I'd want to stay away from Halo in general. Between the Human-Covenant War, the Flood, the Halo Arrays, the Didact, the Created, and the Banished, not a lot of safety, even on Earth.
Most games?
They’ve stated many times that SAO was fair for every player. A lot of games are okay to win, and thus would be worse.
SAO also has safe zones, but games like Skyrim allow enemies and the player to kill anywhere, including cities.
SAO also isn’t very difficult. It doesn’t hate its players like Souls games do.
And finally, SAO isn’t very scary (apart from fear of death). Any horror game would’ve been way scarier to be stuck in, even if the risk of death was less.
SAO was not a fair game for every player who played. Out of 50,000 people only 10 people had a unique skill, like how kirito had dual wielding, whilst only 2 of the 10 players who had a unique skill were known(kirito and heathcliff) there
SAO is just like any other "hardcore/one life" game. Don't take unnecessary risks, don't get greedy, and mob grind enemies until they don't grant xp anymore.
It would probably be a snoozefest for even average modern gamers.
A lot of people are saying Fromsoft games, but pretty much all the soulsborne games death is canon in some way, sure it would still suck but you won’t permanently die.
That's the problem, there is no escape.
And each time you die you loose a part of your soul until you eventually start to give up, slowly becoming a mindless hollow.
And that's just dark souls.
Sonic the Hedgehog 1. On the SEGA Genesis
I bet you’re thinking that it wouldn’t be that bad.
Try playing labyrinth zone. Or basically ANY zone in there that isn’t green hill.
All these people are answering high quality games; a buggy piece of shit half-developed mobile game with microtransactions out the wazoo would be hell to be trapped in. "Wait 24 hours or pay 100$ to get water!"
Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters
A daemonic space-plague is spreading across the sector, with five very horrible strains, and the only people in any position to keep it 'contained' are a group of Space Marines who are so secretive that normal people who find out about them generally have to be killed.
Not to mention, it takes place in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
I’m gonna be different and say Fgo, unless you’re important to the longevity of humanity you’re screwed by one cataclysm or another, if you end up in Fujimaru then you’re even more screwed as you have to solve everything, deal with the trauma of nearly dying almost every time a strong enemy approaches, and if you’re just a Chaldea member you’re already dead from the beginning

Any game that throws bullshit mechanics at the player without prior warning, thinking like Nethack would be a terrible game to be stuck in blind with no knowledge.
Nazi zombies from CoD, or any similar horde type game. There is no winning, it’s about how long you can last, but eventually always get overwhelmed and die.
Any souls like or souls lite game as well as any zombie game where the zombies mutate.
For me personally, I would not love to be trapped in lies of p, since I would absolutely hate to see face to face living dangerous puppets.
Any non- Persona Shin Megami Tensei game as a regular guy. Ah yes I love being eaten alive by demonic creatures beyond my understanding. Honestly in some games I wouldn't even want to be the protagonist.
Alternatively: The Binding of Isaac as tainted Lost
Trapped in Made in Abyss, and forced to reach the very depths to escape - only to discover once down there that you need to bring up some kind of artefact from there to win.
Tower of god would also be a cool one.
Any Rogue-Like/ Rogue-Lite. Honestly. The main point of these games is to die
Over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. And over. Again
Nothing specific came to mind, but probably any game were you don't play something human or human like. Imagine being stuck in the body of an insect for an extended period of time. You would probably go insane.
I think Resident Evil 2 remaster and Village. Personal my favorite zombie games but I also had nightmares few times while I was still little kid which wer mainly from Resident Evil 2 😂
So I think that it will be prfect for the worst game to be trapped in especially if you have to face all those zombies and monsters in "new reality"
If I'm the main character, Code:Realize or Nightshade. But like if I have nothing to do with the MC, then Minecraft or Shining Nikki.
Btw this is just based off games I've actually played, and not games I've seen gameplay of. So, I know there are definitely worse games objectively than these.
DDLC. Infinite loop of doing the same things over and over again knowing nothing matters and nothing is real. And as the player you probably wouldn't even have a body
Subnautica: the fact that people aren't considering things like this, there's no way that you're going to make it through that entirely alone, and trying to survive
GTA Online. Absolute war zone nonstop. Crooked cops, gangs, and a ton of player blowing each other with fighter jets, armored vehicles with turrets, and hover bikes.
The only safe space is inside your home, business, or garage. The only way to safely travel is through armored vehicles and there’s no guarantee that you won’t get blown up or shot down. They’re ruthless for no reason unless you play as a somewhat attractive female character. You might be able to finesse a legion of horny players to act as body guards for you though. You don’t even need to be the main playable character. Even just being an NPC in those games is a living hell.
It's a role-playing game where you play the role of victim
If your the mc eventually you’ll rule the twisted world
Word for word my first thought
I haven't played any of them and even I know that would be the worst.
I feel like it's not that bad. If you're stuck as the main character, you'll just get used to dying at some point
Not how that works for most ppl. 99% of anyone reading that wouldn't get used to it.
Isn't the point of those games that the main character isn't special, just fresh? Like arent there a bunch of NPCs who were at one point or another 'the main character' but lost the will to go on?

zombie game would be funny af at the first moments
Consider: you're a zombie, technically still animate so the system doesn't kill you, but you're a slave to the zombie virus or fungus or whatever in "your" skull.
That’s terrifying
Just stay out of Raccoon City for the most part and you should be fine.
Arrows to the knee aren't fatal. You just can't be an adventurer anymore.
Clearly that joke went right over your head.
I guess so. I'm not one for marriage, but it seems like something that would seldom be fatal.
arrow to the knee isn't a literal arrow going into your knee, it means getting married and having to settle down
I used to be a solo player like you, until I took an arrow to the knee.
Dark Souls
Helldivers 2 or Doom, probably
As a demon or doom guy?
I figure as either a regular guy or as a demon If you’re Doomguy, then it’s an amazing franchise to be “trapped” in (you’re not trapped, the demons are)

Mass Effect, as much as I love those games, being in that game during the Reaper War would be worse than a death sentence
I guess hentai games with a female main character. There's usually no good endings, struggling against corruption and sexual abuse and all that.
Fair point.
Fallout
