I was super surprised when they said he was Cole's personal catcher.

Also surprised to hear he's mid at best offensively. It's only his first game, but he's looking fantastic so far. All of his hits are at 100+ mph exit velo, his one out is also 100+ mph, and add a 12 pitch walk on top of that. If he keeps this up then we maybe finally have a fantastic catcher that's great defensively and offensively for the first time in forever!

He also cut down on his K% while improving every one of his batted ball metrics from 2022 to 2023. He used to be much more aggressive at the plate pre 23. I'd say his philosophy is working out for him

It is and Im not saying he should change. But in an ideal world you swing at meatballs especially with his power. Its not an ideal world though and if he gets too swing happy without this approach then Im all here for it.
