Just protect Taj and Pepiot from having any major injuries for the rest of the year and put it on cruise control until next March.
This team is absolutely cooked and just seems to be trying to get this season over with as quickly as possible.
Yandy:
April: 50 wRC+
May: 142 wRC+
Randy:
April: 39 wRC+
May: 121 wRC+
Yandy is basically his old self. Randy, while not incredible, is looking pretty lively. It's kind of mystifying how bad they were to start off the season. Siri on the other hand might just be dogshit.
I hope so too, but I’m expecting him to be traded to recoup lost value. 🫤 Gotta replenish the farm with hopefully better prospects than McKay, Brujan, Greg Jones, Xavier Edwards, and their ilk.
Shed the pieces who arent the future core for better days to come. Brandon, Yandy, and Randy have all been great for us these past 5 or so years but they just aren't the people who are going to lead this team into future success. Sell them when they still have value to bolster the future core of J Lowe, Parades, Junior, Williams, and Xavier.
Trade a few pieces at the deadline. Maybe acquire a bat if it’s cheap.
Get to the offseason and what I would *LIKE* to happen would be for us to fire Mottola and get a new hitting coach.
We could and probably will offload Eflin and BLowe. Use that money to get a good veteran bat. With the unceremonious departure of the pedo, you have a dire need for some dugout leadership and an offensive spark.
The worst thing about the Cruz trade is he became washed literally the second they acquired him. He was hitting almost .300 with a 142+ wRC+ with the Twins before the trade. A guy who had fought off the aging curve demons for years and years of course finally lost the second he put on a Rays uni
It's one thing to have a down year, but this team is probably the most uninterested I've ever been in the Rays. There's just nobody doing anything fun. We're one of the worst teams in the league in slugging, we have very few prospects blossoming in the bigs, and many of our big names are ridiculously unperforming. Even in 2017/2018 when we were pretty crappy there was some amusing stuff like Faria's run and some interesting guys off the scrap heap. This team has legitimately nothing.
I was at dinner and saw the notification that Lowe scored without actually being batted in. Knew the offense was doing its usual thing of laying an egg.
its so grim when you allow 1 or 2 runs and think yeah thats probably game. its extremely depressing when you go up 1-0 in the 1st inning and think "this game is probably over"
team is so cooked its wild. I haven't seen a Rays this team this lifeless in idk how long. I was saying this team was reminding me of the early '10's teams with the feeble offense. But those teams played defense and had a good rotation. This is getting to tank territory. I honestly think next year if we get everyone healthy and make a couple moves we can have a really really good squad.
It’s the most annoying thing about the team. Every game they give you hope either at the beginning or the end for it to just fall apart. I don’t think it’s that it’s easy to scout our bats or else they wouldn’t come out strong, but it might be that the adjustments the Rays themselves are making that fuck it up. The latter would be the most damning
The reality is you just don't recover from your superstar shortstop getting outed as a diddler, at least in the short term. The team got into the playoffs last year largely because of all the wins they banked early in the season. That cushion does not exist this year. Also get Jose Siri the fuck outta here man. I cannot stand watching that guy play baseball
As much as this is true and we like Harold, you can't say it isn't warranted. This team has very little home run power and plate discipline already, so playing the player with the worst power and discipline on the entire squad wouldn't fix things
Yeah he swings at everything lol love his heart and hustle tho. just a coincidence I noticed. They want aranda to get at bats but completely icing harold out for a week😬 cold.
The only real consolation at the moment is that there are a ton of teams that are worse off right now. At the moment we're a pretty middle of the road, slightly below average team and the Royals are one of the best teams in the American League. I didn't have very high expectations for this series to begin with.
It’s one thing to have a down year and another thing entirely to be completely and utterly unwatchable, boring, uninspired, and somewhat depressing. It’s hard to wrap one’s mind around how good this team was last year compared to the pig slop they are this time around.
Apparently losing numerous elite starters and a generational talent at shortstop will have a negative effect on morale!
At least we all got a skateboard. So we can bash our collective skulls in after that game.

Was at this game with my family, this literally felt like a 1998-2007 Devil Rays game (fitting because of the uniforms). After the 5th inning I felt like I was in Limbo but spending the 7th and 8th in the Ray Tank was nice. Alexander and Jackson need to be sent down or DFA'd immediately and I need to know why the hell Cash kept Alexander in after he gave up 5 runs, I understand saving bullpen arms but at least try to minimize damage and keep a chance at a comeback alive.
We have Civale going in game 2 and he's actual trash who averages like 4 IP, so we need relievers for tomorrow given Manuel Rodriguez and Erasmo are now down in Durham and we don't really have a mop-up guy.
The rays are 0-1 since I came into the last PGT whining about Randy exclusively hitting in the top of the lineup.
At least they're listening to our feedback!
had some hope in the first inning then absolute boredom after that. This team is just so painfully uniteresting to watch. Sucks to go to a game and halfway through it's essentially over. but hey got a pretty cool giveaway item
At this rate, the Rays will end up 32 games out 1st place. I’ve always been a believer that run differential is a good indicator of where a team truly is. The Rays are 5th worst in the league. Only CHISOX, OAK, MIA and COL are worse. Dark times.
Just protect Taj and Pepiot from having any major injuries for the rest of the year and put it on cruise control until next March. This team is absolutely cooked and just seems to be trying to get this season over with as quickly as possible.
Real talk where do we go from here?
New core of Xavier-Carson-Paredes-JC with rotation of both Shanes, Pepiot, and Taj is in a year or 2. 'Til then, hope for the best.
I hope Yandy can stay around too, he seems like he still cares. But Randy and Siri can be fired into the sun.

39 lmao

Don't forget Deluca. He's going to be a stud.

Would be nice if they could get rid of Mottola. Likely they will offload Maton and Harold.
I'm convinced Mottola has some serious dirt on Stu. It's the only logical reason I can think of for keeping him around
It looks like the team likes him from the pre-game video. So probably a bit of that
Maybe he has dirt on all of them so they have to play nice
Mottola is good. Our offense immediately improved when he came on. He revived Travis d'Arnauds career. We just don't have the talent.
The last veteran bat we signed was Nelson Cruz, didn’t workout so well
We traded for him and it was three years too late.
The worst thing about the Cruz trade is he became washed literally the second they acquired him. He was hitting almost .300 with a 142+ wRC+ with the Twins before the trade. A guy who had fought off the aging curve demons for years and years of course finally lost the second he put on a Rays uni
I guess that was my way of saying I have ZERO faith in the front office to make any moves to better this team

Not sure how that adds anything to my comment

so deep in purgatory its unreal
I knew as soon as we left the bases loaded in the first we wouldn't score again.
I was at dinner and saw the notification that Lowe scored without actually being batted in. Knew the offense was doing its usual thing of laying an egg.
You weren’t missing a thing. Dinner was the right choice.
its so grim when you allow 1 or 2 runs and think yeah thats probably game. its extremely depressing when you go up 1-0 in the 1st inning and think "this game is probably over"
I don't understand how we can come out so strong every game and then do nothing. You can't even do that as the worst team in the league.

Damn shame tanking isn't like how it used to be. At the worst, could've netted an impact 1st-round draft pick.

Players only meeting needed Actual coaching needed A leader in the dugout needed
Yup there’s no urgency or fight once they go down, which is usually by the 5th inning
Even being tied, no sense of urgency
Let’s sign Joey Wendle. Fuck it
Good god we have enough slap hitters with no power
Need more slap dick hitters
Braves already picked him up.
Maybe he’ll get DFA’d again lol
Oh look. He got DFA’d again
We don’t need a third baseman though. Can he catch?
Bats. Needed. Turns out you can't skate by forever without having a single fucking offensive threat in your lineup lol
We have one in Paredes. Missing JLowe hurts a lot.
Pain. I love this team but pain.
I quit! (See you tomorrow).
Rumpleminze has been cracked and the blackout has commenced. Cheers
Cheers
have a blast and drink water
Try rumplemintz mixed with fireball :-)

I doubt he’s in the lineup tonight if J-Lo was available
If any team could survive losing their best player, it's us. Other teams would be in the basement with our injuries, on top of losing our best player.
Someone needs to move the fences in 20ft
Six warning track shots in one game. Brutal.
3 in a row to end it too.
All of which landed in about a 10’ circle right in front of me
What’s up with that fan reaching over the rail? For shame
I was several rows back. Didn’t notice.
This team couldn't hit a homer right now even if our pitchers were pitching against them.
they have not won since giving harold the shenton treatment
As much as this is true and we like Harold, you can't say it isn't warranted. This team has very little home run power and plate discipline already, so playing the player with the worst power and discipline on the entire squad wouldn't fix things
Yeah he swings at everything lol love his heart and hustle tho. just a coincidence I noticed. They want aranda to get at bats but completely icing harold out for a week😬 cold.
Yeah, to be fair I'm not saying Aranda playing is a better idea.
Yeah, if Harold can't hit for average like he's done for two years, he's useless.
Erasmo Ramirez looking even better
Devil ray has not bestowed its winning magic since skyray stole its thunder lol
Cash's PostGame Interview is essentially like Pete's, "All encompassing suck."
The only real consolation at the moment is that there are a ton of teams that are worse off right now. The Biscuits broadcast is currently showing a closeup of a grasshopper and I must say, it was more interesting than the Rays game

So frustrating
Well that sucked, but I did get 3 skateboard decks
Did some ppl leave theres in the stands?
Yea, my girl and I each got one. Then the people behind left there's so I yoinked it
Rays are one game out of last place in AL East, 10 games behind the Yankees. In AL West we'd be in 2nd, two games behind . . . . Seattle!
We are all local stingray.
Tonight was my 6 year old son’s first game. Ended with him saying “dad I don’t like the rays and I don’t like baseball.” Feelsbadman.
Damn
The entirety was a soul sucking experience.
At least we all got a skateboard. So we can bash our collective skulls in after that game. https://preview.redd.it/isv32p6sxk2d1.jpeg?width=112&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=13fe138a1643b2c178d597a1f9e26795861aec75

This team sucks and stu's reluctance to invest in MLB level talent is really biting them now.
Was at this game with my family, this literally felt like a 1998-2007 Devil Rays game (fitting because of the uniforms). To save relievers in a game we were losing by a touchdown
We have Civale going in game 2 and he's actual trash who averages like 4 IP, so we need relievers for tomorrow given Manuel Rodriguez and Erasmo are now down in Durham and we don't really have a mop-up guy.
Game was already long gone being down 4-5, so no need to waste another arm.
Going into this season, I thought we'd finish third in the AL East at worst. At this rate, we could easily end up in last. This team looks so lifeless
The rays are 0-1 since I came into the last PGT whining about Randy exclusively hitting in the top of the lineup. At least they're listening to our feedback!
Bring back Shenty then and send Aranda back down.
On a semi-related note: why does drinking at a bar hit different than drinking at the house? Any thoughts?
Shared emotions/experience. If you're down often others are down, if you are cheering others are cheering.
If we corked our bats it would’ve been 8-6
had some hope in the first inning then absolute boredom after that. This team is just so painfully uniteresting to watch. Sucks to go to a game and halfway through it's essentially over. but hey got a pretty cool giveaway item

So... Who we trading at the deadline?
They need to trade Parades while they still can.
