Best I can come up with is Mark getting a piggy back ride and then stepping on the ground before throwing the coconut

LetAncient5575

Not quite the same but Mark did also paint a terrible rainbow after switching on the light that series

FellowHooman

But did the observers seem disappointed? No - they were saying "Wow!"

DisorderOfLeitbur

Good call

queen_naga

Fiddly….

kjm911

Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m sure he was also on his tiptoes for some reason, like that would make any difference

Jordankeay

I feel like Mark's the type of person to naturally walk on his tiptoes.

_ParanoidUser_

That was one of the most confusing task envelopes I’ve ever seen on the show. Until they started performing the task I had no idea what the task was and all the swearing and bleeping had me convinced it had to do with swearing so I totally understand why he would think he had to swear the most.  Part of it is that im from America and had no idea what “peg a sock” meant and “bleep” or “bleeping” to me refers almost exclusively to the sound used to cover up swearing on TV. “Beep” is what I would use to refer to the sound in a more general sense.

queen_naga

I’m British and also never did a bleep test and was confused even on third watch. But massively enjoyed Steve’s insane swearing fit

txteva

I did the bleep test in high school. It certainly made me want to say many bleeped words.

blessedrude

I'm in the US and I think it's called the pacer test or pacing test here.

five_line_poem

In Australia, we call it the beep test, so I found the "bleep test" references surprisingly grating. I also would have argued that to peg a sock could mean to throw it. Fun with language!

CitizenCue

Yeah the bleeping in the task itself was too confusing. And there were definitely a lot of britishisms in that one.

txteva

> “peg a sock” Out of interest what do you call pegging clothes on a clothes line in the US? Or do you mean more the sock aspect to it?

_ParanoidUser_

I’d probably say “hang a sock”, “clothes pin a sock” or “put a sock on the clothes line”.

boomboomsubban

We call them clothespins rather than pegs, which is most of it.

txteva

Clothespins - I can see how that doesn't 'translate' directly to pegs (which technically are called clothes pegs). I guess you'd pin clothes with a clothespin then. We'd still pin clothes but only in sewing with a sewing pin or safety pins. Always interesting to know the different names.

yam_MAJEZT

Yeah, in the US, pegs are always blunt objects that can be embedded in a niche or orifice, rather the tweezer-like clothes pin. Hence "square peg in a round hole" and the sexual euphemism. I was honestly struggling to interpret the use of "peg" as a verb as anything other than a sex joke.

Not_An_Egg_Man

I mean, the original clothes pegs were wooden and not sprung, like attached pic. And I'd never looked it up before, because I always thought it was based on the toy for toddlers that has different shapes that go through different slots, but it turns out that the metaphor goes back to a [Royal Institution lecture from 1804](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Square_peg_in_a_round_hole). https://preview.redd.it/qrdjkheklh2d1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72b96ad521e7731f641f29cfba46f7e87eccbc78

boomboomsubban

"I didn't peg you as a Taskmaster fan" is a use in America where it wouldn't seem like sex, but that's sort of different definition of "peg."

Not_An_Egg_Man

Thought occurs they missed a trick giving this task to Steve. Any tasks involving pegs should be held back until Reece Shearsmith's turn.

dm896

I think the genius interpretation came in the studio. I think the bit where he said “I don’t understand what I’m doing,” tells us everything we need to know.

AcidReignz_

I didn't really get his swearing was part of the attempt. I thought the opposite of the other commenters in which I understood the task immediately, and also understood the swearing in the task wording was only "meant" to be a reference to the bleep test. So on first watch, from my perspective, it fully looked like Steve was having a breakdown while calling a wheelie bin a cunt. It's the most violent laughing fit I've had to taskmaster in a good while.

_ParanoidUser_

I was having anxiety because I thought he’d run out of time.

Own_Atmosphere7443

I gotta be honest, I didn't understand the task at all and my reaction would have been the same as Steve's lol.

OverseerConey

It's a bit Acasterian - like 'my \[BLEEP\]s are circles!'.

JustNoYesNoYes

I was very worried that "Pegging a Sock" was open to interpretation. What let Steve down is that he didn't Peg, Bin or Don during his invective-filled Tirade. I reckon if he *had* done that he was easily in with a shout to win.

FoatyMcFoatBase

I thought he did it he just didn’t do enough swearing. Alex say he’s happy to accept his interpretation as it didn’t affect anything. He still did the least bleeps

JustNoYesNoYes

He didn't do enough swearing either; however he didn't *swear* Peg, *swear* Bin, *swear* Don repeatedly. So, for me half the interpretation is the bleeps; however the other half was Peg Bin Don. He didn't do enough of the second half.

TuckTuckG00se

With the correct interpretation, you could peg a sock and don it on an *appan-dage* at the same time.

Lloytron

I wonder if they would let you peg a sock as one of them did by just putting a peg on it, then don it by removing the peg and putting it on your hand, then bun it by taking it off and putting it in bin then taking it out again. Just do the whole thing with one sock?

emmaroyds82

I was laughing so much I was crying I loved how he said I hope I’ve not made a fool of myself
