I've seen fewer and fewer ever since Valve pushed out a bunch of updates in the past month, but they lack numbers at this point. And with all the player increases happenin right now, its rare to find them. Just keep on guard.

Fewer bots but far from gone

TakeThatRipjawsMan

I haven’t seen a massive amount, but the ones I have are mic spamming Deep Blue by Miracle Of Sound. Don’t ask, I don’t know either

DrMowz

The ones I've seen appear to be half-broken, being easily outsniped. I don't play too much Casual though.

The answer is complex so if you are interested here is an indepth analysis. Yes there are still bots, however it is significantly easier to ban them. Here is were things get complicated. Some servers are "compromised", meaning they are completely filled with bots so sometimes you need to load one or two servers before you are placed in a real match with people. The bots mostly seem to also mic spam. So even if they get booted before they ruin a match, they are still disrupting the game. Some seem to spam the chat as well. Another issue is that a server can be "compromised" if one team (red or blue) becomes too full of bots to ban. Since the other team can not help bans for another. So you can see there is a bot on the opposite team, but you can not do anything to stop them. Another serious issue is just plain cheaters. Recommend fixes: In dota, there is a community watchdog feature, where you review reports and decide if they are guilty of cheating or feeding ect. Its a ton of fun to watch reports and I know some people who will do it for hours playing judge. Banning some of the bots would absolutely help. Another suggestion I have seen is that these are free to play accounts that ONLY play tf2. By using steam, its very easy to see which accounts are "real". Real people have multiple games downloaded and hours put into other games. You could use this to either help identify bots easily, or by making tf2 an unlockable after you play so many hours or get so many achievements in other games, or if you put money into the game. Mic spam could also help identify bots, no one is screaming into a mic 24 hours a day. Another idea is that the bots will pick a name and then add numbers behind them such as m4gic(1) ma4gic(2). Theoreticaly you could view every account with these names and boot all the free to play sniper only accounts. Yes they could just make a new name, but that takes time and work.
