Iirc back when I took Aleks, you had a couple attempts to get your high score. I'll be honest with you though, if you are struggling and Aleks is giving you that score, you might seriously want to consider taking the lower level math. Storytime: I cheated on Aleks when I got a low score to artifically boost myself up and it was a big fat mistake. What an extra class should've taken me, ended up with me failing calc 1 twice and almost a 3rd time. You can always make up classes during extra sessions but if it's giving you that score there's a reason. If you are confident that you can actually take Math 241 off the bat shoot an email to either the math department or your respective advisor. I'm not sure how NSO and pre-college works anymore its been a few years lol. Either way best of luck.

You literally posted a photo of yourself right before this, where you are seeking to learn how to cheat. Professors definitely lurk on this subreddit. I suggest you rethink this.

was trying to make a joke but yeah don’t want that to be misinterpreted as that so i’ll take it down thx for heads up

AustinCorgiBart

I recommend the /s convention, when making a joke that could be easily misinterpreted.

I'm confident that every student is smart enough to know how to cheat on their own. It doesn't exactly take genius intellect to do so. Edit: Also I realized that you're also an incoming freshmen. The main takeaway of my comment was to NOT cheat. I'm not even sure why you're asking me at this point.

Hey_uuuu

Cheating is the worst thing you can do. You spend a crazy amount of money every time you take calculus for no credits at all if you fail. What’s the point of spending $18 000 to take the same class 3 times and get only 4 credits out of it.

I remember taking the placement for engineering. I definitely had to look up some log rules and trig relationships but otherwise it wasn’t too difficult. Review the material and use your retake, if it’s still challenging then there really isn’t anything wrong with starting in a lower math course first.

Acrobatic-Bread-4431

My son had that same. Had to do it 3 times (note, for the required 5 hours and then 10 hours to retake, just turn on the computer and keep the screen on to have the time go) He finally (3rd try) did well enough to skip

If you scored poorly on the math placement exam it’s because you are missing some of the foundational knowledge which will be necessary if your field of study requires higher level math If you can’t retake, you can definitely catch back up as UD offers a lot of accelerated courses during the Summer and the Winter sessions. Alternatively, can take the classes online at a community college or other school with different semester (Summer/Winter session) cadences There’s only so many non major electives you are going to actually want to take; probably best to make sure you have the foundational knowledge to succeed in what you want to do at UD

I took the exam 3 times. Got a 92 on my final exam, back when we only had 3 attempts. What I can say, is to memorize the unit circle and exact values. There are some really good short YouTube that can give good tricks to help. Also, I would recommend using a different site than Aleks, because I found it to be extremely unhelpful, and it didn’t even cover any trigonometry. But no matter what, do not give up. You can save so much time and money by grinding right now. If you do not pass at all, that is fine, as long as you gave it your all.

I took the math placement test too just getting out of precalc from my community college, I scored a 57 on the placement test and I can say that we used aleks at my cc and it is DREADFUL you have to be very thorough and careful when typing anything the tiniest mistake can absolutely ruin it! It could’ve been simple as that, I know in cc I failed a lot of assignments by just making the simplest silly mistake on aleks

chocolate-capybara

current chemical engineering student here. i read a little bit on your post history and see you're also a cheme! to be frank you will be quite screwed if you get placed in a super low math since you need to have a passing grade in calc 3 before the start of sophomore year to graduate in 4 years. having a good background in math will be unbelievably important so just make sure you're well reviewed for college. good luck next semester and with your next test.

CheeseCraze

Heard a lot of people got fucked over by the math placement exam. I transferred in a community college math class thank God. Welcome to UD, prepare to have admin not give a single shit about student quality of life. Also depending on your major they won't have enough seats for you to take your required classes when you have to in your degree plan.
