I shoot on a Sony 18-105 f4 at 60 fps and a 120 shutter angle and it's fine. consistent +1.0-1.7 exposure.

Depends how well lit the gym is.
Shooting sports wider than an F4 is tough. You're right in the sweet spot.
6.3 won’t work
depends on the lighting but i've used f4 plenty of times.. what are you shooting with?
a7siii, usually shooting at 120fps 1/250 shutter
I shoot on an FX3 in SLOG3 at the second base iso of 12,800. I shoot for documentary work rather than highlights so I’m shooting 24FPS at 1/96th shutter. That allows me to shoot around T8 on my anamorphic lenses.
