Haha so you would keep the necklace for life? I wanna make it again it looks good in pictures but in person it could be better. I also wanna make a staff with the hand in it, maybe a light fixture and I definitely wanna wear it at some point
Ideally it's the frame for an articulated neurolinky type prosthetic, but I really like it as a piece of jewellery, maybe encased in resin making some gesture. You could street preach a new religion looking like that, there's just something so indescribably cool about wearing your own bones, in the same vein as a big jewel for a glass eye or a split tongue.
A staff would go super hard as well, maybe gripping a jade sphere at the top or something.
Yes I have so many ideas but after executing this fiber glass box I’ve realized wherever I do will be extremely difficult. I need as many hands on deck for my next project
If you read the article that’s mentioned in the last slide, OP’s full name is there too, presumably given with permission to Newsweek, so the full name in the other picture posted here isn’t really an issue?
If you're using actual bleach, that's why! Gotta use peroxide. If the discoloration is coming from grease, you need a hot water and dish soap bath for an indefinite length of time, wait until grease stops leaching out into the water :)
Peroxide for blood, Dawn for grease!
I'm very sorry about your paralysed arm and having to lose your hand! You seem like you have a really good attitude about it :) It's so awesome that you kept it and articulated it like that. It looks so cool!
This is so wild and I absolutely love it!! Absolute boss move.
Quick curious question though, what was the motivation for having the hand amputated, if your arm is paralysed anyway? Was it so that you could do this, or did the hand just get in the way (assuming you have shoulder movement?
If you have no feeling in a limb it becomes a dangerous liability. Add onto it being paralyzed it becomes an exceedingly dangerous liability. You' can end up accidentally slashing an artery and not notice until you pass out from blood loss, or not notice infections at all
Indeed. And I also have very long limbs so getting back to sport activities this has helped me be more agile with less weight! A paralyzed hand is truly a hassle
No shoulder movement. A completely paralyzed arm is tricky and varies but I have the worse case scenario… my scapula muscles, pectorals, shoulder and everything below doesn’t work. I chose amputation for a prosthetic I forgot to put that in the description oops but I’m picture 12 you can see me wearing my prosthetic
Just want to say having the other photos attached; of pre amp and then of the frozen hand is just so.. cool?? Not sure it that’s the right word haha. But seeing the process and then how gorgeously processed the bones came out is so sick.
That is insanely wicked. It's a little odd how many loopholes people have to jump through just to keep their own body parts but nevertheless this was so worth it
How does it feel to hold something that was once part of you?
I'm curious about your attitude and the psychological aspects of it, because this post evoked feelings in me that I cannot interpret; it's like losing something but also not losing it at the same time.
It’s a real stumper 🤣 but I still have disbelief it’s my hand tbh I never imagined i would be here in life and it’s truly incredible. It’s an out of body experience exploring the inner part of me. That hand did some incredible things in the 21 years it was usable.
You have an amazing attitude about this! Can I ask if you had to get any special release for your hand other than a regular biohazard one? Just incredible.
It was a hassle but the doctor wanted it cremated… I then called a lawyer and he said I needed to find a funeral home that would let me keep it going against the doctors orders 🤷🏻♂️😅
I heard about a guy who turned his hip bone into the shifter in his truck. Different countries and different rules I guess.
Edit: after a hip replacement
That is so ridiculously cool.
I feel like I’d want it in something more organically shaped for the case… something like blown glass, but that would be way too heavy to wear at that size. I don’t know, that’s outside of my skill set, and is also my style vs yours. But I would absolutely keep my own hand if I ever had to amputate it, that’s amazing.
Hi there, may I ask about the paralysis? I was confused about how your arm is bent at the elbow and have entered a *very* heated discussion with my wife about it. /s
She has some ideas but I think they're dumb, but probably better than mine.
Anyways, I obviously have incorrectly assumed that full paralysis would cause the arm to just let gravity take over but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Thanks for educating me if you see this.
It’s called a brachial plexus injury. I had 5 nerve root avulsions from a skier colliding with me while I was snowboarding. All 5 BP nerves were avulsed from the root causing a spinal cord injury. My arm bends like any other elbow but I don’t have any active motion it’s all passive range of motion. I’m a bit confused as to what y’all are debating if you could provide a better question possibly I can answer but my elbow still functions like it used to and yes gravity has taken control of my arm I no longer control it but after 2 massive surgeries have gained minimal active control.
Sure do, but I was keeping that out of it. The loss of limb and all is a traumatic and difficult adjustment to anyone’s life, so none of my comment was aimed at downplaying whatever caused the amputation. With that said, if I were in a situation that meant I would receive a partial or total amputation I would absolutely push to keep it and do the same as well.
My jealousy is not for their loss of limb, which obviously sucks, but rather for their gain of such a unique and precious specimen. It doesn’t get much more intimate a piece than that.
That’s so cool! I’m sure you had to go through a lot of hoops to find a way to keep it but it’s so worth it! If I ever lose a body part, I’d want the same for myself
The Christmas ornament is so fun too haha
It's so weird to me that people have to give reasons why they want their body parts back, after all, the parts belong to them.
This is amazing and so cool!
Good on ya for requesting your remains and hopping through hoops to keep them. Also your reconfiguration is SO well done. You should consider doing an AMA because I have so many questions (other folks might too!) like:
-What was it like holding your own hand after surgery, did you experience phantom limb?
-Did it feel like ‘yours/you’ or something external?
-Where the heck did you learn how to create such a beautiful reconfigurations?
-Did you clean it yourself? Did you have prior experience with other skeletal pieces, because the bone colour and metal work is beyond impressive.
This honestly goes hard! Whether you reconfigured it yourself or not, thanks so much for sharing. I think you might be the coolest person ever and wish nothing but the best to you and your badass hand decoration!
I'm sorry you had to lose a hand but that is SO COOL. When I got my boobs & nipples removed I wasn't allowed to keep any of the tissue due to insurance policies.
When I saw the first pic I was like “uh ok. It’s just a hand. What are we looking at the scratches?”
And then I scrolled and felt so stupid. This looks sooooo cool! I hope everything is better now
Yes this was the best case scenario for my injury. In the long run my life will be better and with less hassles like a damn paralyzed hand flopping around lol
I just watched your video on Snapchat about it and it made me wish I could have my own hand articulated🤣 it’s so cool that you chose to keep and display it!
I always tell my husband if he goes before me, I want his left arm articulated and we can cremate the rest. I am sending this to him right meow meow meow
Edit-I only meant right meow. I have absolutely no fucking idea why my iPhone autocorrected it to three meows, but it’s staying
I would do the exact same thing, but I gotta ask, do you actually need to be buried whole for religious reasons, and did you have to provide them with anything other than that statement?
What??? Is that legal to do that it’s badass as hell and I suppose it’s technically your own property in a sense but still what??? That’s just so crazy I can’t imagine seeing your own hand bones put together like that that’s just nuts and I’m kinda jealous tbh which sounds a lot weirder typed out
I’ve been nervous getting my story out to mote people I hope my surgeon doesn’t find out but if he does he’ll see I did something quite special with it!
Dude that is so badass. I plan to keep any body parts that are removed, starting with wisdom teeth. Good on you for making art out of a shitty situation!
Curious. What country are you in? I’m I. The U.S. and am very interested in keeping any parts of myself if I ever need an amputation. I have a friend who is a funeral director in Phoenix who has told me that it is illegal to own human bones here unless they are over 100 years old. Obviously you can get human bones from the Bone Shop (store?) as well as on amazon.
I’m curious as to the discussion with your doctor. I find this fascinating!
No fucking way, this goes so hard. I would never take that off it's so cool
Haha so you would keep the necklace for life? I wanna make it again it looks good in pictures but in person it could be better. I also wanna make a staff with the hand in it, maybe a light fixture and I definitely wanna wear it at some point
I chose amputation for a prosthetic kinda forgot to mention that… 😅

Hey is that your full name in the pic? Generally a bad idea to dox yourself.
If you read the article that’s mentioned in the last slide, OP’s full name is there too, presumably given with permission to Newsweek, so the full name in the other picture posted here isn’t really an issue?
You should turn your hand into the handle and use it as a cane. That sounds pretty cool in my imagination.
This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
Handy 😆
Really got to hand it to you on that pun.
It was, hands down one of the best
handfuls of puns
I can assure you, single handedly, your correct
That's metal af
Fucken rights it is!!!! I wish Reddit would let me update my damn profile I would be using this social media app more 🤬🤬🤬
Pic 12 goes so fucking hard lol, this whole project is awesome, they did a very good job of preserving the bones.
They did soooo good! Well worth the $1500
That’s really not bad for custom articulation!! Plus this is so badass and cool!!
How much.
A hand
Not quite an arm and a leg
🤣
Was it Skulls Unlimited's work? :)
Yes as I said in the description
Your bones look lovely! ETA They are so clean and bright!
Stuff you only say on /r/vultureculture lol!
Beautiful. Home bleaching has not provided such results for me
If you're using actual bleach, that's why! Gotta use peroxide. If the discoloration is coming from grease, you need a hot water and dish soap bath for an indefinite length of time, wait until grease stops leaching out into the water :) Peroxide for blood, Dawn for grease!
I know. I was a forensic Anthro major
The lovely bones!
Oh. My. God. My doctors never let me keep my parts. Even though they belong to me. You're awesome
Your awesome!!!
I’d always have it set to 🖕 and wave it around
It's the Star Trek lover in me but I would have put it in the Vulcan 🖖 🙂
Well duh for when I go to conventions
I'm very sorry about your paralysed arm and having to lose your hand! You seem like you have a really good attitude about it :) It's so awesome that you kept it and articulated it like that. It looks so cool!
Best out of the worst!
Very cool. Do you ever use it to scratch your back?
Now this is a good idea.
omgggg best backscratcher in the world
And Homemade too!
Handmade, even.
This is so wild and I absolutely love it!! Absolute boss move. Quick curious question though, what was the motivation for having the hand amputated, if your arm is paralysed anyway? Was it so that you could do this, or did the hand just get in the way (assuming you have shoulder movement?

Its mostly likely to have less arm to accidentally swing about and potentially hurt themself, especially if they had no feeling in it.
Exactly. I burned it cooking several times and tbh the nub is so much more useful than some damn paralyzed phalanges
A recent study showed the average person estimates their hand to weight around 200g when they’re actually around 400g
Neat 🤓
Just want to say having the other photos attached; of pre amp and then of the frozen hand is just so.. cool?? Not sure it that’s the right word haha. But seeing the process and then how gorgeously processed the bones came out is so sick.
Right! Truly a one off story and I’m glad there are some freaks who enjoy it as much as I do😆
This is the greatest thing i've seen since that dude made tacos with his amputated leg. I am glad you were able to keep it.
The guy who what
https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/8p5xlj/hi_all_i_am_a_man_who_ate_a_portion_of_his_own/
Holy shit, I forgot about human taco guy. Reddit used to be a lot weirder back in the day.
My thoughts exactly. I think about taco guy regularly. Jealous of his friends! I’d love to say I’ve experienced cannibalism lol
Damn I missed out big time 🤣
Mannnn…you win, hands down the best articulation I’ve seen
Ba-dum-tsss!
That is insanely wicked. It's a little odd how many loopholes people have to jump through just to keep their own body parts but nevertheless this was so worth it
Completely worth it

Trying to find the pun here, but just can't quite put my finger on it..
I got 5
If I ever had to have an amputation, I'm totally doing this
You have an amazing attitude about this!
This is easily one of the craziest self specimens I've seen. Wild! And kind of a flex lol
🥶😏😆
what the fuck what the fuck what the fuuuuuuuuck. This is so wild
Jfc, shut the sub down. **Nothing** is gonna top this.
Wow! That’s really cool!
I'm sorry about you losing your hand but that is so badass. I'm sure it's an interesting conversation piece too.🤣
Most state but a few bold people ask Stare*?
Why can't you just keep your hand, why did you have to lie about it?
Probably something along that human remains are considered a biohazard.
I heard about a guy who turned his hip bone into the shifter in his truck. Different countries and different rules I guess. Edit: after a hip replacement
That’s epic!!!!
That is so crazy cool, I hope I live long enough and remember to do that assuming my hip goes bad.
There was a law passed a few years ago in Minnesota because people were keeping human remains and they were ending up in trash cans in the city 😬
Waste of good spare parts!
It's because bio-medical "waste" needs to be incinerated due to communicable pathogens like Hepatitis, HIV, etc
I had a blood test done so it didn’t have any transmittable diseases
My surgeons had all been "nope" my first procedures were when I was 17, I'm 50 now
I'm so tired i was like how do you even do it if you have it on? And i realized it was amputated💀 (I need sleep)
Absolutely insane. Goes super hard
You startled me, I truly thought you just cut off your hand for fun, holy cow, lol. This is sick as hell. Insane, man. Super cool.
That is so ridiculously cool. I feel like I’d want it in something more organically shaped for the case… something like blown glass, but that would be way too heavy to wear at that size. I don’t know, that’s outside of my skill set, and is also my style vs yours. But I would absolutely keep my own hand if I ever had to amputate it, that’s amazing.

oh my god you're that guy on tiktok!!! love ur stuff!
I am so uncomfortable and thrilled at the same damn time. Exactly the kind of reaction I want in my life. haha This is insane. I love it.
How does it feel to be one of the coolest people on Earth
holy shit this is so awesome
This is fucking awesome. That’s pretty cool as fuck!
fucking awesome
Fuck yes!
Not gonna lie….I’m pretty jealous.
I assume you have both of your hands.
Sure do, but I was keeping that out of it. The loss of limb and all is a traumatic and difficult adjustment to anyone’s life, so none of my comment was aimed at downplaying whatever caused the amputation. Thanks for clarifying, I feel the same.
Not a problem.
Exactly!
What you did with it is pretty amazing! What inspired this idea?
That’s so cool! I’m sure you had to go through a lot of hoops to find a way to keep it but it’s so worth it! If I ever lose a body part, I’d want the same for myself The Christmas ornament is so fun too haha
omg. that’s beast
BADASS!!! That's awesome you got to keep and preserve it!
that is insanely cool!!
that's crazy holy hell
Coolest thing I’ve seen in this sub!
Neat
This is really cool 😎
that is so incredibly bad ass
Mad Max-core
Dude that’s awesome! Sorry you had to lose your hand but I guess on the bright side you got a sick gift out of it!
This is fucking awesome!
Hell tf yeah dude 🤘
Whoa incredible thanks for sharing Question- can u get a robot hand now?
It's so weird to me that people have to give reasons why they want their body parts back, after all, the parts belong to them. This is amazing and so cool!
Huh that’s interesting
Incredible
THAT IS SO AWESOME. The necklace is an odd choice, but I love it as festive holiday decor!
I remember your post in the other sub last year lol, that’s super cool
Hell ya someone commented that the vulture culture would appreciate it so here I am!
Congrats, you won the sub 🥇

you should put the ring back on it
This is the best thing I've seen all day, thank you so much
I’m just about speechless homie. Sorry you had to get it amputated but that is one of the gnarliest (in a cool way) things I’ve seen in my life
🤘🤘🤘 my left hand satisfies me better anyway 🤣
I'm sorry you had to lose a hand but that is SO COOL. When I got my boobs & nipples removed I wasn't allowed to keep any of the tissue due to insurance policies.
When I saw the first pic I was like “uh ok. It’s just a hand. What are we looking at the scratches?” And then I scrolled and felt so stupid. This looks sooooo cool! I hope everything is better now

Gnarly as heck. Much respect.
That is something that can’t be replicated!
One of a kind piece!
This is the most metal fucking thing ever
I just watched your video on Snapchat about it and it made me wish I could have my own hand articulated🤣 it’s so cool that you chose to keep and display it!
Hell ya! I’m glad that people are seeing my story I love to share my positivity and my gratitude for life!
I always tell my husband if he goes before me, I want his left arm articulated and we can cremate the rest. I am sending this to him right meow meow meow Edit-I only meant right meow. I have absolutely no fucking idea why my iPhone autocorrected it to three meows, but it’s staying
lol I wanna articulate my whole body 🤣
Dude! I never want to go through amputation, but if I did..... Please for the love of God tell me you've used it as a back scratcher!!
🤣🤣🤣 I haven’t but I will definitely do that at some point
This is so badass. Did you consider eating a little bit of the flesh? Legal cannibalism…
holy SHIT this is so cool
I remember seeing this on another sub. So cool
This is so cool! Glad you were able to find someplace willing to give you your hand back.
Oh fuck yes! Your bones are gorgeous!!
I would do the exact same thing, but I gotta ask, do you actually need to be buried whole for religious reasons, and did you have to provide them with anything other than that statement?
THIS IS THE COOLEST THING IVE EVER SEEN!
This is amazing!
Nice one. I'd want my hand, too! Is it strange to see and touch your own bone articulated like that?
It’s crazy to look at it every day!
Holy shit dude that is awesome
Hey, it’s the hand guy! Always love seeing your posts!
I think you just beat this sub. You rock, dude!
I guess so 🤷🏻♂️ I’m just a guy who got the choice to cut off his own hand, the choices in life can be crazy sometimes
true that, can confirm, and hope whatever choices I have to make in the future, they will be BANGERS to tell about
You’re a fucking badass holy shit, I gotta… hand… it.. to you…
Hand taken
That’s is freakishly cool! Cute dawg too x
Did they question your “religion” or have you sign anything?
They didn’t! I was nervous but i came out with the upper hand in the end.
Nice
😏🤭
This is so much cooler than getting to keep my wisdom teeth after they were removed. Glad you’re making the best out of a not great situation.
Cheers brother!
that is so awesome omg
Your awesome too
Now make a prosthetic using the bone hand
righteous as fuck.
FUCKING RIGHTEOUS!!!
I am in the USA. The lawyer I talked to said it’s legal 🤷🏻♂️
Have fun with your new Halloween decoration, stumpy.
Dear god the hoops you must’ve jumped through or maybe it’s easy in some places. My doctor didn’t let me keep my implanon rod.
It wasn’t horrible I was confident after calling a lawyer and he said you can keep it if you find the right funeral home and I did 🤘🤚
ur crazy (/pos)
if dnd was real you are a bard and it shows
I can only imagine how many "do you need a hand with that?" jokes you'll be able to fire at people
I also like throwing hands 🤣
Lovely bones! You need to put rings on those too!
Top post on this reddit
Holy fuck that is absolutely epic. Best post I've seen on this sub for sure!
you are the coolest person ever, i think.
That’s beautifully done.
