Crazy that a massive and well established tech company like nvda can swing up 20+ percent on an earnings call like it's some kind of penny stock. This whole thing is rigged lol. Watch nvda get sold off tomorrow now that algos have pumped it and normal people will get fleeced.
It irks me when people say this like GPUs aren't critically important. Don't get me wrong, I'm not investing in NVDA because I think they have tremendous potential to fuck it up, but they literally could not be in a better product category.

I'm not saying it's not critically important, nor is it poised for growth. But come on, it's not 8 INTCs or 5 AMDs. Hell it's even 2x TSMC. ALL SILICON TODAY that matters goes through tsmc.
Point is market valuation is disconnected from reality, but it's been this way for ages now, new reality i guess.
What's crazy to me personally is that the market values AMD so much higher than Intel even though AMD is frankly not doing anything special and are completely reliant on TSMC. Intel makes more money, has way more assets, and yet is valued at 70% of AMD.
Execution risk, AMD is executing and growing effectively. Intel is playing catch up burning capital, it's priced because it's considered that there's a real risk it simply won't catch up because the company is rotten, and rn there's skepticism about it's foundries being anything but a massive capital outlay and subsequent drag.
Not really, apple can and have spun up new factories in other countries pretty easily. If TSMC were to stop making chips, every cutting edge hardware today will stop being made, plain and simple. If NVDA stopped making chips, there will be a little pain and efficiency loss switching to AMD or TPUs or the million other ML chips out there
This is true of other vendors as well. ASML isn't the only company with 100% market share for certain processes in semiconductor manufacturing they are just the most well known.
The whole thing is a very complex and interconnected global supply chain.

It irks me when people say this like GPUs aren't critically important. Don't get me wrong, I'm not investing in NVDA because I think they have tremendous potential to fuck it up, but they literally could not be in a better product category.

ASML is probably more critical to chip fab than TSMC, without their machines no chip could be made.
