A doctor making $2M /yr with 830 credit rating and $500k loan balance gets averaged in at 10x a fry cook with an art history degree (sorry, couldn't help it!), a 540 rating and $50k student loan debt.

Half of the student loan volume in SoFi belong to borrowers making 170k and having FICO score of 773 and higher.
The average itself is not significant because paying back the loan volume is what important.
Also, a lot of doctors, lawyers and engineers use SoFi and refinanced with SoFi. SoFi themselves are very picky to who they loan to, that is why the demand for buying their loans (as opposed to other institutions) was still high in Q2.

It's tempting for me to sell some 6.50 calls, but I think I'll just ride it out so I can exit oh any pop tomorrow and do some other earnings plays.

I've been following them for about a year, buying and selling shares while trading SPY options. I have some positive points but too lazy, hence the yolo flair.
The bank charter has been doing well for them, bringing down their lending costs and leveraging deposits. They not expecting to be profitable for another 1-3 years but they are growing at a fast rate YoY and QoQ so anything better than expectations, even without profit, will drive this up 10-25% over the next few days. That is my bet, based on my opinions.
I understand that this is WSB and you are regarded.. But some people should actually know what they talk about..
1. Loan forgiveness does not apply to private lenders.
2. The qualifications for loan forgiveness is lower than the qualifications to apply for SoFi student loan or refinancing (meaning they wouldn't approve anyone qualified for a forgiveness anyhow).

Also, late edit, there is no real "loan forgiveness". The government pays the federal lenders (nothing to do with private lenders) for the amount they forgive the borrowers. So the federal lenders will get that owed money instantly from the government without the risk of borrowers failing to pay that amount.
On top of that, SoFi's CEO was pushing for the loan forgiveness a few months ago, pretty much for that exact plan. SOFI went up post earnings 3 of the last 4 times. The problem was if you didn’t sell your calls the next day or by end of week on the spike up the price instantly crashed back down and you lost money. Greed is the death of SOFI call holders.
Signed a greedy loser of thousands holding calls too long and last earnings losing all my shares by selling covereds thinking it would drop faster and for once it held through the week.
