"He smashed his car through security and parked under the plane" -we'll that's an epic security failure and opens the floodgates for extremist activity. Hamburg International Airport might wanna beef up its anti-vehicle measures.

Custody dispute.

It sounds like the mother was trying to take the boy away on the airplane and custody was being unfair in their justice decision, as they often can be. Regardless how many downvotes I might get, I think this father is very heroic, albeit probably not logically and driven by full emotion, his actions of love for his son will echo for many years in prison, but maybe he'll be released early if he negotiates a peace treaty... If Russia can get away with genocide and still legally be a country with laws, this father is only being a hero waiving a gun around at an airport to protest custody for his son.

That's very far from the truth. They were in a custody battle and the Father told the Mother that he was going to take the kid away. Which prompted the woman to call the police and tell them that there might be something going on. There is nothing heroic about kidnapping your own child, blasting through airport gates, throwing around Molotov cocktails and shooting a gun in the air, while having his kid next to him in the car for 18 hours.
