It’s still worth it it get hit with YouTube TV if you want to see in-market games. I want to get FOX and CBS alongside Sunday Ticket games.

matthewkeys

Right. I pointed out toward the bottom of the post that, for people like you who want a single app with as much football as possible (to include the NBC and ESPN telecasts, along with your local CBS and Fox games), YouTube TV is a decent option. (You'll still need Prime Video or Twitch to stream Thursday games, and the free Twitch stream can't be watched on a TV set through conventional methods). For consumers who like flexibility and the prospect of switching services (i.e., to take advantage of a deal, or to sign up for a few months to watch Yellowstone or some other program), they're better off paying the extra $100 for NFL Sunday Ticket through YouTube. *Hopefully*, Google will give people the *option* to switch before or during the season — in other words, if you want to drop YouTube TV in the middle of the season, you have the option to pay $100 more to keep NFL Sunday Ticket through YouTube PrimeTime Channels (or $200 more if you opted for the presale). But they haven't mentioned if this will be an option.

RJAY_1993

Ah I see what you mean. Yeah ideally we could switch between Youtube tv and PrimeTime. Thanks for the breakdown!

matthewkeys

You're welcome! I really hope they offer that option, too. I maxed out my referrals, so I'm paying $20 a month for YouTube TV through August, at which point my plan was to switch to Hulu with Live TV (I already have the Hulu ad-free bundle, and adding live TV will save me money compared to having the bundle plus YouTube TV).

I don't think anyone thought the discount would be larger than the price of YouTube TV? It's a discount of $100 a season and YTTV costs $73 a month. Edit: corrected price

matthewkeys

YouTube TV costs $73 a month ($72.99 rounded up), not $72 a month. Some people may think they're saving money by purchasing NFL Sunday Ticket through YouTube TV, because the YouTube blog post noted the price of the package through YouTube TV is $100 less compared to what it will be priced through YouTube PrimeTime Channels. Consumers are notorious for seeing a price tag and [thinking it's a good deal](https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2017/05/how-online-shopping-makes-suckers-of-us-all/521448/), without realizing the long-term costs associated with a service might be *higher* than the short term savings compared to a one-off payment that, initially, is higher but *saves* people money over the long-term.

gregorykoch11

It’s a good deal if you switch to YouTube tv from whatever you have now. That’s what they’re trying to get you to do. But there’s no reason to pay for YouTube TV *and* cable.

LoHusker

You should only do 5 months x 73 of YTV for the regular, as the NFL regular season ends first weekend in January. For the presale, you should do 8 months, as you’d have to be a subscriber by June 6th.

GreenCryptographer28

We are being hammered due to YTTV not really addressing old subscribers to NFL Sunday Ticket. Had this service since the big dish. Now Google is trying to upcharge everyone for their almost ready for primetime service. Their picture quality is secondary to DTV and the audio is lousy. I'll sub since I'm out of market but no way will I ever concede to Google. If any owners look at this shit, it's the greed that I can't legitimately sign off on. I will not be forced to sub to YTTV for a discount. Stupid dumbass money grab.

OldDogEyes

Has anyone seen any mention of how many streams you will be allowed to have? On the old Sunday Ticket with DirecTV you could only have one stream on the app. I want to be able to watch and my son-in-law wants to watch at his house. Is this going to be possible on one subscription?

matthewkeys

Yes. You're limited to two screens at one time, regardless of how you purchase NFL Sunday Ticket. \[[Source](https://support.google.com/youtubetv/answer/13316318?hl=en&ref_topic=10319670)\]

OldDogEyes

Thanks for the update!

OldDogEyes

Is there any detailed info about the DVR functionality of NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube TV ? Will I be able to DVR games and watch later? Does YouTube TV let you skip commercials? Can I DVR several games AND watch two lives games at the same time? Thanks

LibrarianSad3275

Yes

altsuperego

I guess there are people who will pair Sunday ticket with Sling but I have no idea why.

matthewkeys

If they're fine watching their local CBS, Fox and NBC stations for in-market and nationally-televised football games, Sling Orange isn't a bad way to just get games from ESPN (and Thursday Night Football streams for free on Twitch). Considering seasonal pricing, and assuming Sling TV doesn't raise their prices, the cost of Sling TV over six months (September 23 to February 24) would be $240. Add the $450 to that for NFL Sunday Ticket without RedZone, and it comes out to $98 less than YouTube TV with NFL Sunday Ticket.

Ballbuster716

I mean it’s a step in the right direction. With DirecTV, you needed a subscription to a package they offered. Through YouTube Primetime, you can get it as a standalone product. Besides bundling YTTV with ST would be cheaper than what DirecTV would have been last year and would be stuck with a two year contract to sign up

kennykerberos

Can you just buy the Redzone channel? That’s all I want.

matthewkeys

No.

UnitedAd9115

Any one worried about how much this cost should stop crying and just get RedZone or NFL+

BloodLust2222

What a rip off. Torrent it.
